Is this a stress fracture or something else?
My foot started hurting about a week ago. I had just started running regularly again (15 miles/week) and I noticed pain in my heel. My first thought was a stress fracture, but now I'm doubting that. I've been reading that most stress fractures are in the metatarsals (when they're in the foot) and this is definitely lower heel. If my heel was a clock, I would put the pain at about the '8' on the clock face (left foot) I stopped running almost a week ago just to be safe. I have a 1/2 I would like to do later this summer, so the prospect of resting because of a stress fracture is depressing.
Oh, and I actually don't really notice it when I ran on it.
I will go to the Dr if it persists, but I just thought I would throw this out there. Any thoughts appreciated, thanks.

Stress fracture can only be ruled out through an x-ray on your ankle.
Depending on how you are landing on your feet, it may or may not be a stress fracture or could even be an early onset of achilles tendiitis. It's good your staying off of it but do remember there are other exercises you can still do that aren't as weight bearing as running such as biking or swimming.
