Going to the gym and gaining weight?
I have been going to the gym since March religiously. I go 5-6 days a week and the only time I've taken off was 3 days for vacation (which I worked out while on vacation) and 1 week for an injury. When I started at the gym I weighed 133. I now weigh 139 and I find myself even hungrier than when I started. My eating habits haven't changed except that about an hour after I get home from the gym I'm starving and I'll usually eat something light. I don't indulge in heavy food and I've eliminated snacking from my daily diet. My current pants still fit without a problem but yet I am getting heavier and also getting discouraged. What's going on here? Am I doing something that I need to adjust? Thanks for any advice!

How do you feel? If you have gained 6 lbs and your pants still fit, you're gaining muscle. It sounds like you're doing everything right so congrats and keep it up! It's normal to be hungry especially after a hard work out. I like to eat smoothies with yogurt, milk and fruit or some string cheese. It's important to eat plenty of protein while you are building muscle.
Don't get discouraged. You're doing well!

Like many people, you do not understand that your bodyweight fluctuates throughout the day. A 5-6 lbs fluctuation is normal. What you really want to do is to track the range of your weight over the course of the day. You weigh yourself in the morning before breakfast and then again before bedtime. That gives you your weight range and that is what you track.
You can lose 5 lbs just from sweating and you can gain it back just from drinking water. If you are eating properly and limiting your calories, you should not have any problems. Furthermore, if you are between the ages of 13 to 21, your body is still growing and that means more weight - it should be gradual but it will increase.

try having a trainer at your gym do a fit test on you, measurements with bmi and all that fun stuff. Just because you are gaining on the scale does not mean its fat. It could very well be you gaining muscle and bulking up. As for diet, you should be trying to eat 5-6 smaller meals a day, so snacking healthy should be part of your daily intake.

It sounds like you are gaining muscle. Muscle weights a lot more than fat. Also snacking is good for weight loss. Try staying hydrated and snack throughout the day good ideas ar sugar peas, melons, baby carrots etc...
