  • Working out but not losing weight?

I've been working out very religiously for about a month. I've watched my caloric intake as well for about 3 weeks. I typically eat gluten free cereal for breakfast and then one other meal (gluten free pasta if I am splurging, but most generally a serving of meat and some vegetable side). Thus far, I've been doing the elliptical for 45 minutes half-max incline, 5 days a week. I've lost one pound and am feeling pretty discouraged. What do I need to change/add to see a difference? Thanks in advance!

  • Going to the gym and gaining weight?

I have been going to the gym since March religiously. I go 5-6 days a week and the only time I've taken off was 3 days for vacation (which I worked out while on vacation) and 1 week for an injury. When I started at the gym I weighed 133. I now weigh 139 and I find myself even hungrier than when I started. My eating habits haven't changed except that about an hour after I get home from the gym I'm starving and I'll usually eat something light. I don't indulge in heavy food and I've eliminated snacking from my daily diet. My current pants still fit without a problem but yet I am getting heavier and also getting discouraged. What's going on here? Am I doing something that I need to adjust? Thanks for any advice!

  • Am I being shallow?

I got out of a serious relationship last year and didn't want to date or even consider seeing anyone for about a year. I am 32, and recently a family member has been badgering me to go on a date with a guy who is 62. This is the third time this has happened. She also wanted me to go out with a guy who was 55 and 58. Am I being shallow for having turned her down because of the guy's age? I feel like me and the guys she wants to set me up with have nothing in common and there is no attraction. We are in VERY different places in life. Or, is my attitude too shallow? Thank you for the help

  • Need some dating/relationship help?

I got out of a serious relationship about a year ago with a guy my age. I am 32 and was pretty devastated about the relationship ending. Well, since then I have been on a few dates but here is the thing...all of the dates I have been on are with men that have been twice my age nearly (one was 55, the other was 61!). I try not to be judgmental so I thought, well I'll at LEAST go out once but I felt like they needed something to 'start their engine' so to speak.

Obviously, it just didn't work. Nothing in common, and not even similar life goals. I have never been married and I don't have kids. I have 3 college degrees and a great job so I figure I have at least a little bit to offer someone. My question is this: NO ONE and I do mean no one even close to my age has crossed my path or even shown a glimmer of interest in just hanging out (I mean, I'm not asking for a marriage license here). Everyone is much older. I'm seriously starting to wonder if that's all I'm able to attract into my life! My mom says "well what do you expect? Everyone your age is married with children and all that's left for you are the leftovers." At first I thought she was just teasing and joking around but over time I found she was quite serious. When I asked her why I can't meet anyone close to my age (or within 10 years of me) she again stated a similar comment about "men my age" "already having their lives". I'm feeling really defeated."

    So, is my family right?

  • I need weight help badly?

Okay, I am freaking out...I think even on the verge of a panic attack and I just need some sound advice and a listening ear. I have been dieting for the month of July. working out between 6-8 hours a week. I began at a weight of 138 (height is 5'5") and lost the weight very quickly, to 132. I was very thrilled with my progress. Well, since then I have been on 2 mini vacations. I stuck to my diet very well but the only things I did differently was 1. not work out every day 2. I had low calorie cocktails on both vacays (wine and vodka/diet sprite). I did not have any cocktails/alcohol upon my return from vacation. Well, tonight I stepped on the scale and I weighed...138. In the month I have been dieting I have weighed myself frequently throughout the day (sometimes up to 6 times a day) as well as watch my calories tremendously.

I am beyond discouraged right now and I feel like a beach ball. I could literally cry the rest of the day because I feel like a failure with my diet and myself. I know I am overweight for my height and am working so so soooooo hard to fix this. I feel like I'm going in an inevitable circle. Did drinking on vacation sabotage my diet entirely? What have I done wrong? Thank you and also, thank you for listening.

  • Diet advice please?

My typical diet/fitness routine is this:

3/4 cup high fiber cereal, skim milk in the morning

I drink water, diet soda, or light juice throughout my work day (I don't take a lunch)

dinner is typically a small serving of black bean soup/other vegetarian soup or grilled vegetables/ 1/2 cup of brown rice (I am a vegetarian so I don't eat meat unless it's the occasional shrimp)

A once a week splurge for me is either 1/2 cup of cottage cheese or 1 ounce of cheddar

I drink more water etc. until bedtime. If I feel like I need a snack, it's typically 40 pretzels or Activia light Greek yogurt.

I do my very best to not exceed 1200 calories tops.

I exercise every day after work, 1 hr, 45 minutes on Monday/Wednesday (tabata, yoga) and 1 hour on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday (tabata, hip hop class)

I very quickly dropped 7 pounds but am currently stuck at 133 pounds. Do I need to trim more calories or is there something else here that is sabotaging me from losing more weight? My goal is 123 pounds. Thanks in advance for suggestions.

  • My Weight has plateaued?

I need some assistance because this is driving me crazy. I currently weigh 133 pounds and I'm 5'5". I eat one to 1 1/2 meals per day, both of which total approximately 1000 calories. I dropped 6 pounds quickly but have been stuck at this weight for about week and a half now. I have been exercising between 6-7 hours a week. I need some suggestions as to what to do. I feel hungry approximately 80% of the day. Please help me know what to do to get my weight loss rolling again. My goal is 125 pounds. Thanks!

  • Recipe for Cole Slaw that uses an egg?

My grandmother used to make slaw (or perhaps it was the slaw dressing) on the stove top in a little iron skillet. All I can recall is that the finished slaw product had vinegar, sugar and she somehow incorported an egg. Unfortunately, she is no longer living and this is one recipe she didn't pass on to me. Does anyone else know what kind of slaw recipe I am referring to? Could you help me out in sharing any recipes you have that may be like this one? Thanks!

  • Need some help transitioning cats?

I am moving in about a month and I have two cats, ages 5 and 6. What are some things I can do to help make the move as easy on them as possible? I am going to start saving as much dirty laundry as possible about 3 days prior to the move so that I can put it in the bathroom (where I will start them out) and they will have a familiar smell. What other steps do I need to take to help them be comfortable?

  • I need some weight loss help?

I am very very discouraged. I am 5'5" and I currently weight 136. I am down from 145. I realize I'm still overweight and my goal is 10 more pounds. I am eating two meals a day and I don't snack in between. I have an under active thyroid and so it's already difficult for me to lose weight. I feel like if I eat anything at all it's going to turn into fat on me. I, getting to the point where I'm scared to eat anything and I am aware that I am prone to eating disorders because I've battled them off and on for years. I drink a lot of tea and water throughout the day. I am desperate to get this weight off by the summer. I'm in the process of moving and so I haven't been to the gym in about a month now. I guess my biggest question is whether my weight loss problem is my choices or lack of gym? I just really need some help in how to get this weight off and thank you!

  • Why am I not losing weight?

I am practically starving myself. I eat a bowl of cereal at around 6:30 before leaving for work. I don't eat lunch. I drink water pretty much all day until I get off work at 3:30. I eat an early dinner (balance dinner of mostly vegetarian items) at around 4-5:30. The only difference is that I have not gone to the gym for the past 3 weeks because I've been caring for an injured family member. I currently weigh 137...My goal is 120. I know it is a lofty goal but I'm down from 147. I don't snack during the evenings and I usually have 1 glass of wine with dinner on Fridays. Is the gym factor working against my weight loss? And suggestions and thanks!

  • Need help with a home speaker system?

I am getting ready to purchase speakers for my home and was hoping to go to an all wireless system. However, am I sacrificing sound quality in doing so? Should I go hard wired or wireless? I will be putting speakers in 5 rooms of a 2600 square foot house. I had a hard wired Bose system at my previous home but hated that the amp was connected in only one room and you could only really feel the power of the Bose speakers in the one room where everything was wired (I used this system before wireless music, before iTunes, before Pandora, etc. The amp powered a CD player and DVD/Blu-Ray player...yeah I'm old haha). I want to be able to listen to music without jeopardized quality and have the option of using just the speaker for the room I'm in or all the speakers. Thanks so much for suggestions and input!!

  • How do I restore my MacBook Pro to factory settings for resale?

I am wanting to sell my MacBook Pro for the newer model. I purchased this in March 2011. This may be a silly question but I've never "wiped" a Mac for resale and I'm use to doing so on PCs. What is the best way I can restore factory settings to this MacBook for resale?

Also, would it be easier to backup my Mac on an external Hard drive or to do a Mac to Mac transfer before restoring?

Sorry for the 2 part question and thanks!
