Sounds like a plan to me. The 70/30 can waver across the day, when short acting ends, long starts, stops. If you're not REAL DILIGENT on when you eat, etc. Doing more shots across the day helps the insulin keep up with the food, glucose, keeping a shorter leash per se? Did about the same thing umpteen 100 years ago... Good luck!
