Is this a bad or unhealthy idea for my cat?

I've been looking into getting a harness and leash for my 2 1/2 year old mutt cat. The thing is, she's an outside cat, but I almost never see her go beyond this one line of trees on a hill above our house. I feel like she'd like to go on walks with me and see new places with someone she trusts. Would this be a bad idea since she's an outside cat? would it hurt her somehow?

My feeling is that if a cat doesn't want to venture beyond something, like a line of trees in your case or a doorway in my case, then forcing it isn't a good idea. Let the cat explore at the rate that she wants to. If nothing else, that insures that the cat knows how to get home.

Bad, bad idea, cats hate leashes, if it wanted to go further it would go further, leave it alone or get a dog, you can walk that!
