What s a good way to get my foot in the door in the medical field?

I m a junior at the University of Cincinnati doing my undergrad (with a hope of graduate school for PT.) I want to start getting my foot in the door in the medical community.

I m wondering: what are some hospital/ outpatient jobs that someone with no (licensed) experience can do for a hospital?

Any and all help appreciated. Thanks

You want to get some volunteer hours doing anything you can in the hospital. If you can get into the rehab department, so much the better, but your chances of that are better when you have some experience as a volunteer with them first. You can also ask for shadowing/observation time with a therapist at a clinic or skilled nursing facility. You won't be likely to find paid work that is useful for PT school admission. At most you can do reception, transporting, or office work without training. You'd be best off with time spent directly with PTs.

Your best bet is to get with a clinic and shadow a surgeon. The hospital that I work at has pt students with doctors all the time. There is not too much you can do actually working in a hospital that doesn't require some certification that would also provide any real benefit to your aspirations.
