I will only be making $17 hr . I have one child. My question is, is $17 hr enough to support my child and I living in a cheap apartment?

That is 35,000 per year. If you get a child care subsidy or you get a reduced rate on child care, yeah. My cousin has two kids and makes that much and is living in a house.

It isn't a great house, and it is a 40 min drive to work, and back but she supports herself without help from my auntie.

It will also kind of depend on where you live, I mean if she lived in Manhattan or Hollywood..no...she would be on the street.

    That depends on your location.

Where I am in FL, $17 per hour is a pretty high wage. If I were in Miami, that wouldnt' be enough to live on.

Definitely. My dad raised me and my two siblings on $11 an hour, while paying $700 rent for a three-bedroom. Granted, we didn't have internet or anything nice, but we had electricity and basic television. I'd think that with only one child and only a one bedroom, you'll do much better on $17 per hour.

Well, it's better than $0 an hour for not working at all. You have to start somewhere and then work your way up. $17 an hour is a decent pay rate.

depends on everything else you have to spend money on... most importantly if you can say somewhere that is rent free UNTIL you have save 6-9 months of total expenses as an emergency fund, then could rent and now worry about what happens to you and your child should you lose your job.

It depends on where you live. I live in OK and it would be enough, but in CA or NY it would be difficult.
