Newly adopted kitten acting strange! HELP!?
I just adopted a 4 or 5 month old black kitten yesterday! He I so cute and so beautiful. I named him Alex. He was super friendly at the shelter. He even went right in the cage. He came right to the door when my dad and I there. Now that he is at our house he runs when he hears someone open the door or footsteps gets scared and hides. The foster lady said he is SUPER FRIENDLY. He never acted like that before that I know of. But he is very affectionate towards me and my father and sister. Is he taking time to adjust? If so how long will it take.

He is just trying to adjust to his new surroundings. This could take days to maybe a week or so. I've had cats that were perky the first day I brought them home then there were those that took anywhere from a couple of days to no more than a week. Give him time and space, he will start to come around when he feels ready.

He's most likely getting time to adjust. Cats adjust time to time and he'll get used to it or that he just doesn't like the strange sounds that come out of nowhere. He's probably cautious to these unusual things.

It will take a few days to get adjusted to his new home. Have some cat treats at the door and give him a few when someone walks in.
