My dog has a stick stuck down her throat?!?!?!?

Me and my dog went on a walk and she loves playing with sticks. But when I threw the stick she picked it up and it disappeard into her mouth. She won't open her mouth even if I try give her food. She's shaking and gagging and crying, she is breathing okay at normal pace but I'm really scared that something's wrong with her, she's usually so happy and running around but she's sat in a corner curled up looking really sad. I've tried the vet but their all booked up for today

I'm only 13 home alone until my mum gets home from work I told her and she's coming straight away. Her work is about a hour away

But please please help me this dog is my best friend I got her for my 11th birthday

She means the world to me please

Unless your dog has actually collapsed and isn't able to breath at all, wait for mum to get home. If it's more of an emergency, you'll have to get hold of a neighbour and get them to take you both to your local vet. Let mum know so she can contact your vet and arrange for payment

Don't, unless it's easily possible, try to get into the mouth - not only might you get bitten because the dog will be hurting and frightened, but you could do more harm than good.

For others - NEVER EVER THROW STICKS FOR DOGS. This is exactly why!

why are you not in school?

anyway, there's nothing you can do until your mother gets home. try calling the vet again, they should have emergency hours or options available for moments like this.

don't try to stick your hand in your dogs mouth and pull the stick out, as that may cause more harm then good.

Update: Did your dog survive OK?

Even adults allow their dogs to play with sticks, however this is very dangerous. Thousands of dogs get injured because of this. They can puncture the roof of their mouths, choke and die as a result consequently she must be taken to the vets now, it's an emergency.

Tell the vet it's an emergency or just go there with your dog and wait.

this is an emergency. Your dog has a penetrating injury.

Your Mum can phone the vet and get them to pick the dog up from your house if they have an ambulance service, or call a neighbour.

You are probably too young to take a taxi without an adult, can a neighbour go with you?

    Have you called your mother?

Call mum to take the family dog to a vet asap, ER vets are open 24/7 and will take you in immediately.

Hope the dog will be okay.

At what point do you finally realize that this is a vet emergency and that you should have put her in the car and gotten both your asses to the vet clinic with an emergency appointment? They take emergencies immediately.
