Is it legal to work in oregon and not be counted twords tax.?

For example I worked at friends store just part time and he paid me in cash for working there to not count me twords tax...is that legal..

    No, it's not legal, but a lot of people get paid "under the table."

    Although in most cases, it's not worth the hassle of reporting it to the IRS because you'd get any taxes that you would have paid back as a tax refund anyways.

    No. However, if you earn under a certain amount a year, you don't owe taxes and are not required to file. Check the tax instructions to see what that limit is- it changes all the time.

    Not filing payroll taxes ( with holding, work mans comp. etc) is a violation of Oregon State laws and Federal Internal Revenue laws.

    In addition, if you are injured on the job and he has not paid his Workmans Comp premiums for you, He will have to provide you with income for life or until you are rehabilitated.
