Could my cat get fleas from our Christmas tree?

We have a fake one and keep it in the garage. Could that have caused her to get fleas? I think I saw one on her

No. Fleas need blood to survive. A fake tree or even a real tree obviously has no blood. It's possible there was an animal in your garage that had fleas that somehow got into the house and found it's way onto your cat. Very unlikely but much more plausible than fleas being in your christmas tree.

It is possible that the tree has an infestation from being a hangout for flea-infested animals in the garage. But that would require that the tree was infested, which means that there would have to be flea-carrying animals frequenting the area of the tree. the odds of there being a flea population on the tree otherwise are very small. It really wouldn't be any different from bringing pretty well anything inside that had been outside. A box that a cat slept in would be a lot more likely to have fleas than a golf bag stored in the garage, say.

I highly doubt it. Fleas need a host body to suck the blood and reproduce. Your cat likely got fleas from being outside or with other animals that may have fleas. Not from a fake Christmas tree.

If your tree is fake, then no, its not from the tree. to be safe, check your Christmas tree out, you honestly do not want fleas roaming around in your house. A garage has many things stored in it, so fleas and bugs and insects would definitely be an option to be aware of, but I'm sure your cat picked it up from outside or from your garage

I doubt a flea would hang around long on a fake tree, or even a real one. It's a possibility. Either way, just pick up some flea treatment from the store and get her treated!

If mice or rats had access to the tree when it was in some storage place, yes, it COULD have fleas on it.

If you are not sure, do not worry. If you have a flea problem, you won't guess; you will know very shortly.

    Good luck.

Fortunately for you, fake Christmas trees are only capable of producing fake fleas. If you notice any real ones, they're probably coming from a different source.

The fleas came from your brain; the fleas sucked so much blood from your brain that you've gone stupid and think fleas come out of Christmas trees.

Flea eggs can sit on anything & wait very long periods of time before hatching. It is entirely possible that this fake tree had contact with rodents (mice, rats, squirrels, etc...) while in storage & with that carries the flea eggs left behind from the fleas that were on the rodent.

Now, the flea eggs on the tree have started hatching & with this there are fleas seeking anything warm blooded to feed from.

If there is 1 flea on your cat, there are likely 1000 fleas in your household. You need to get proper flea control from your vet & you also need to completely & totally treat the house (including garage) & yard. Flea eggs can survive in the tiny grooves of hardwood floors & tuck in the baseboards, so you have to be very thorough to get this under control before it becomes a major infestation

Probably not, but if you're worried about fleas in general, you should buy a flea comb so you can check your kitty to be sure. Or, take the precaution of getting flea drops from the vet.
