Was jesus lying?

He is not lying because he states it more than once. Lying is saying something one minute and then opposing it the next. He is coming back. And for all we know it could be literal or a metaphor. Stars falling from the sky, sounds like shooting stars or something along those lines, take it into a different perspective. However, Jesus is capable of doing anything, he is above all, great and powerful. If he wanted to make the stars fall from the sky, he could.

Well, since Christians understand that God created all things, and that Jesus was the one through whom things were created, it is obvious that both would know that if a star, a sun, fell down on earth, nothing would be left.

The sign of Christ that is promised is supposed to be a sun-like object, perhaps a dwarf sun type object with the appearance of wings of a dove. This object may be accompanied by its own swarm of moon-lets, asteroids or meteors, in whatever case. When this object nears earth, the Bible predicts that the gravitational forces will nearly tear the earth apart. The same gravitational forces will as predicted cause some of the orbiting matter of that dwarf star to crash down on earth. In that sense, since these have been orbiting the star in stable orbits for thousands of years and only get disturbed at the approach to the earth, the word 'star' that Jesus used may have been the only one that fit without a large explanation such as I am giving here.

As such, since we do use the term shooting star, Jesus most likely was referring to a fairly large number of these that are associated with his sign in the sky, the sun-like object promised to come right after the great tribulation. Many of these shooting stars may impact the earth, and they may well be rather large. The earth is going to be laid waste, we are told, with most of humanity killed.

Just as His heavenly Father never lies, Jesus would not lie. A bit of research on the subject reveals this.......

Darkening of the Heavens. The darkening of the heavens or of the stellar bodies is often used to represent the removal of prosperous, favorable conditions, and their being replaced by foreboding, gloomy prospects and conditions, like a time when dark clouds blot out all light day and night. (Compare Isa 50:2, 3, 10.)

This use of the physical heavens in connection with the mental outlook of humans is somewhat similar to the old Arabic expression, “His heaven has fallen to the earth,” meaning that one’s superiority or prosperity is greatly diminished.

At times, of course, in expressing divine wrath, God has employed celestial phenomena, some of which have literally darkened the heavens.—Ex 10:21-23; Jos 10:12-14; Lu 23:44, 45.

Upon Judah such a day of darkness came in fulfillment of Jehovah’s judgment through his prophet Joel, and it reached its culmination in Judah’s desolation by Babylon. (Joe 2:1, 2, 10, 30, 31; compare Jer 4:23, 28.) Any hope of help from a heavenly source seemed to have dried up, and as foretold at Deuteronomy 28:65-67, they came into “dread night and day,” with no relief or hope by sunlit morning or by moonlit evening. Yet, by the same prophet, Joel, Jehovah warned enemies of Judah that they would experience the same situation when he executed judgment upon them. (Joe 3:12-16) Ezekiel and Isaiah used this same figurative picture in foretelling God’s judgment on Egypt and on Babylon respectively.—Eze 32:7, 8, 12; Isa 13:1, 10, 11.

The apostle Peter quoted Joel’s prophecy on the day of Pentecost when urging a crowd of listeners to “get saved from this crooked generation.” (Ac 2:1, 16-21, 40) The unheeding ones of that generation saw a time of grave darkness when the Romans besieged and eventually ravaged Jerusalem less than 40 years later. Prior to Pentecost, however, Jesus had made a similar prophecy and showed it would have a fulfillment at the time of his presence.—Mt 24:29-31; Lu 21:25-27; compare Re 6:12-17.

Only the future will tell what exactly is literal and what is figurative about that prophecy, but we do know that all of the prophecies given by Almighty God and his Son have always come true.

So, why do we have "fallign stars" and/or "shooting stars"?

Jesus was speaking in parables, using common daily terms to described uncommon Godly acts..

What Jesus was describing was a METEOR SHOWER, which LOOKS LIKE "stars falling to earth".

No Jesus was NOT lying, he never did.

An entity that never existed cannot lie but the fiction of man does!

The bible is what is called "Faction” A fictional story set in a factual time and place. Thus the time, place and real historical characters are all correct but the fictional characters and stories are not!

There is not one single mention of Jesus in the entire Roman record - that is right - not one! At the same time as he was supposed to have been around there were a number of Jews claiming to be the messiah - all of whom are well recorded!

There is not a single contemporary record from any source and even the bible mentions of him like all other references were not written until many years after his supposed death!

He was supposed to have been a huge problem to the Romans and produced wonderful miracles but still not one contemporary record?

Pilate is recorded in the Roman record as a somewhat lack luster man but no mention of a Jesus, a trial or crucifixion that would surely have been used to make him look brighter!

At best he was an amalgam of those others but almost certainly never existed!

Not one word of it is contemporary with the period and was not written until several hundred years after the period the story is set in!! How did the apostles write their books more than a hundred years after they would have been dead?

Christianity is an invention of the Italians and that is why it came from the Holy ROMAN Catholic church!

Please realize that those claims for the Old historians are worthless since they were not even born until long after everyone in the stories would have been so long dead!

She gave birth to an illegitimate child named Jesus. In Egypt, Jesus became learned in sorcery and upon his return presented himself as a god.

It means in the Shining of God's glory the stars charming will become unworthy. Their attraction will fall to end (earth). Moon's light and beauty will become fade against Him. Even Sun's light will also be nothing in front of His glorious charming light. Power of heaven will also become surprised seeing Him.

Doesn't it ALSO say that the serpent drew 1/3 of the STARS with his tail and FLUNG them

to the EARTH?

Here is one case I take 'stars' as powers because the serpent would never be interested

in shining stars....what would be the point? since this is war, and the serpent wants to

win, the serpent draws....sounds kind of like LUST....with his tail.

But there's enough detail about the sun and the moon, and we know things are

quite uncertain in our system. Jesus coming would disrupt the system because

He comes in glory, so huge amount of light....think lazar multiplied.

Meteor and comets have been called falling stars for centuries. Look it up.

The world is in the End Times prior to the Last Days. It is becoming more and more as it was in the days of Noah with violence and constant anarchy.

GOG/MAGOG WAR

1. There will soon be an Islamic war against Israel led by Russia, Iran and their armies. This army consists of Russia and the Islamic countries listed in Ezekiel 38:1-6. Ezekiel 39:1-12 describes that war where millions intend to attack Israel BUT GOD intervenes and kills all but 1/6th of them. Revelation 14:20 describes the place of battle as being filled with blood up to the horses' bridles for 184 miles. (Russian warships are stationed off the coast of Israel even now) This is the Gog/Magog war NOT Armageddon which happens at the END of the 7 years of Tribulation. 4. The 6th Trumpet releases the 4 fallen angels held in the River Euphrates and they lead a 200 million DEMON army (not men) from the Bottomless Pit that kills 1/3rd of mankind. See: Revelation 9:13-18

3. Universal war (when Christ returns physically to the earth)… Armageddon where ALL nations are represented, led by the Antichrist go against Israel and Jesus as King of kings. All of this army is destroyed. See Zechariah 14:2-4 and Zechariah 14: 12-16 for details. AT THE END OF THIS WAR THE DEVIL IS PUT IN THE BOTTOMLESS PIT FOR 1000 YEARS. Zec 14:12 And this shall be the plague with which the LORD will smite all the peoples that wage war against Jerusalem: their flesh shall rot while they are still on their feet, their eyes shall rot in their sockets, and their tongues shall rot in their mouths. (sounds like a scene from Raiders of the Lost Ark)

Zec 14:13 And on that day a great panic from the LORD shall fall on them, so that each will lay hold on the hand of his fellow, and the hand of the one will be raised against the hand of the other;

4. The last war is at the end of the Millennial reign of Christ led by Satan who was loosed for a time to gather all rebels against the saints of God. They are destroyed by fire from Heaven and Satan is thrown into the Lake of Fire where the Antichrist and False Prophet are. This is when the Earth is then cleansed by fire while all earth inhabitants are at the Great White Throne Judgment, either those on trial or as witnesses. Those in their natural bodies who have survived the Tribulation will be in the audience.

At this time all the great oceans will be dried up. There will still be inland seas, lakes and rivers. We will then have the New Heavens and New Earth. The New Jerusalem will be on Earth and God will dwell with men.
