Will an Accountant get paid $60 per hour?

I have a friend who lives with his other friend. Let just call my friend room mate Jake. My friend was telling me that Jake is an Accountant and makes $60 per hour. I major in engineering and i know that is lawyer, doctor, and engineers salary.

all depend on Location, Experience, Job difficulty, and Certification

Average small town new grad accountants with job requires no travel and without a CPA make around 30k to 50k

A 10 years+ experience CPA living in NYC that travel all the time makes 100K+ a year

Anyone can call himself an accountant. It is not much different from a bookkeeper. They do not make that much money. The higher income only comes with the degree - Certified Public Accountant or a Chartered Accountant.

He'd make more than that if he's self-employed.

$60/hour is $125k. If he's a good, experienced CPA I don't see why he wouldn't make that. He wouldn't be making that as a new grad though.

a C P A can probably charge that much(and more) but a regular accountant unless in a very high ranked position is not likely to make that much unless he is in business for himself

If he does work on the side for a few hours he can charge as much as someone will pay him.

Lawyers and doctors make far more than $60/hr. Many CPAs in my area make $125/hr and up.
