Yes, contact your local "Department of Vocational Rehabilitation" for assistance documenting your disability. Otherwise you will need a case manager to help you through this process of applying for SSD.

I believe that schizophrenia is a government-recognized disability. The folks at SSI are pretty particular about there being a disability.

You will have to go to a psychological exam and a physical exam.

I was blind and paralyzed when I qualified, so Iqualified the first time w/o question, but I hear that people are often initially denied.

You must be persistent whenever you deal with the Social Security department.

Good luck. Holding a job with schizophrenia is not easy-impossible.

I can help I get SSI and SSDI you are eligible for SSI the initial process requires a ton of paperwork form the Social Security administration. 99% of people are denied their first time with an initial claim. You will need to appeal. An appeal can last up to three years. Also get a lawyer that really helps. I REALLY hope that helps you. If I helped you please vote me for best answer. Have a good day HUGZ Raymond
