Am I a bad person for not caring about my dad?
I haven't seen my father in 2 years almost, I always hated him as a kid and as an adult I basically cut off contact with him. He was never a dad and he made my child hood hell, he never did anything for my mom, sister and I and he struggled so many times because of how selfish he was. Eventually for the best my parents got divorced and I just never was very fond of him. He has disappointed me in every walk of life adult and as a kid.
My older sister texted me today telling me they found out he has lung cancer, and to be honest I could not give less of a dam. I am a 23 year old guy and to be honest i don't feel one bit of sympathy for him.

i don't think so. not all of us are blessed with the best parents. i don't care for either of mine altho my dad's much better than my mom. he's just a bit ignorant and authoritarian and is my abusive/sociopathic mother's faithful puppy dog.

Have you ever done anything for your dad before? Like celebrating his birthday, buying him a drink or a meal out of your own pocket?
Sometimes life is not what others do for you, but what you do for others. They may not have thought of you, but you thought of them.

Ur not 'bad' for not caring its understandable in ur case. However in this life we only get one biological father, so if u dont go see him then u MAY regret that in the future. BUT if u do go then theres no scope for regret IF (god forbid) he were to die from this.
