Can you grill tamales instead of steaming them?

    To properly cook the masa it needs moisture and the heat. It needs to be steamed.

    You could set up a steamer on a grill but to be properly steamed the lid must be tight fitting so it does not let out the steam in the pan.

    Once steamed if you want to grill them a bit to char the corn husk and give a little grill flavor that would be a better way to do it.
