You can start and run it just long enough to get it where a tow truck can grab it... 20-30 seconds. Expeditions are very sensitive to loss of cooling and will reward impatience with failed head gaskets.

You can run it until it quits running... At THAT time, you'll have to replace more than just the water pump.

Bad water pumps leak coolant way too fast to take the chance on driving the vehicle. When you get an air pocket in the cooling system the temperature gauge is not accurate and you will over heat your motor and cause an additional $2500 worth of damage. Don't be stupid. get a ride to work and have the water pump replaced before driving the vehicle.

You should not run a car that has a bad water pump. the reason is that when a water pump goes, it is usually the bearing and water seal that go. this failure lets the drive shaft on the pump dislodge itself from the pump housing and then it always jambs itself into your radiator. then you will not only have to replace the water pump. but the radiator will also have to be repaired. so if your water pump has gone, don't drive it unless you have lots of money to spend on it!

You can run it until the engine burns up - - if you want to buy a new engine
A bad water pump can also cause broken metal to circulate through the engine and cause invisible damage

A couple of minutes or until it seizes. You will probably get ten minutes +, but you may not.

Don't. The pump circulates the hot water from your engine back to the radiator to cool before moving coolant back to the engine. If it overheats you can crack the engine and you'll need to replace it...the engine. Go buy a new pump if that's the problem. It's cheaper.

Why bother. Replace the pump then start the car.
