Is it normal to feel nervous around  soon to be parent in-laws?

They are highly judgemental and I never feel like I can relax and be myself as they are monitoring my every word and action.

Yes it is very normal, especially when the in-laws appear to be critical.

My in-laws were that way, and i just ignored it. They weren't the sharpest tacks in the box, either. And they were all religious (the hypocritical kind). I just treated them like everyone else, and i skirted their judgments, changed the subject and was pleasant toward them.

Yes it is perfectly normal. My in-laws are Korean. I learned Korean to meet them. Can you imagine the pressure I was under? But the day I gave them their GRANDSON. I could do no wrong.
