How do I treat my bruised toenail?

I work in a warehouse, and I was laying out pallets for items to be placed on them. I had dropped this one pallet and it came down on my right foot big toe. It did hurt but nothing broken; so no trip to the hospital. It did bruise the toenail  where blood collects under the nail making it appear purple blue or black. I have been letting it heal naturally and the area around it did heal.

Today though, my toe is healthy and normal. But the bruise is still there. It does not hurt at all. Its just there. 

What do I do about this? I hope I do not need to get the nail removed (I know it will grow back).
