What is the best way to get road tar specks off of wheels?

I have some tar and bug remover, but it's about 26 yrs old and separated. What is the best way to remove these specks?

Any mild solvent like white spirit or petrol. Do not use paint stripper or nail varnish remover ( acetone ), they will damage the finish.

Gas and a cloth works fine. Or WD40 if you have it.

Go to an auto parts store or hardware store and buy a can of Tar remover.

Orange oil,  like Goo Gone.  A solvent.

Give the tar remover a good shaking. It should still work. Use it with #0000 steel wool or BRILLO pads.
