I am confused why do people unemployed not have to do any of this now?
When I was unemployment last year I had to drive 12 miles each week to attend workshops or else I would be cut off! I also had to have a resume on Illinois job link and go there and look for a job and it kept an automatic record to show if you applied or not for any and you had to do so or else again lose your UI. Also had to check in with recruiters and not turn down any jobs without a real good reason, and on and on.
These people this year are getting a LOT more money on Unemployment than I ever did and they are not going to workshops or having to have resumes any where or do job searches and they are turning down jobs right and left and refusing to go back to jobs they had as they are getting SO much money sitting at home!
AND they are getting SNAP food cards with an incredible amount of money on them. Meanwhile people that work like me are getting nothing! I cannot even get SNAP food cards to help me with buying food even though prices are going up! Why are people now getting much more money and not even having to do any of these things like the rest of us had to do?

And now us workers lose our Social Security! People are turning down jobs and not going back to work. Job agencires are begging me to take jobs and people out of work wont! They have it easy now sitting home getting all of this free money WE are paying for!

Unemployment Insurance policies have always been different for different people.
We can surmise that you are in a low end common career.
You attended workshops to increase your skill level and make you more employable. You had to have a resume on job link because you would be able to perform most any job.Except for "I can't turn down jobs for no good reason" because no one ever has a different policy for UI than that (except when you are required to accept any job that is offered). Individuals that have a job waiting for them, are not required to job search because their job will eventually re-open.
For most everyone else, they are required to.
"Why are people now getting much more money and not even having to do any of these things like the rest of us had to do?" because the law changed. Get over it." I cannot even get SNAP food cards to help me with buying food even though prices are going up! " you were handed $1200 (unless you are a dependent) to cover the increased costs related to covid.
- wah wah wah i'm not eligible for welfare.
GEEZ... applying for welfare would be one of the last things I'd do before becoming homeless. Patrick = NO ONE IS LOSING SOCIAL SECURITY. You get the same benefits when you actually retire, you just don't have to pay into it for a few months.WE ARE DOMED since people have no common sense, are unable to understand what is going on. When did it become acceptable to strive to be dumb?

with the number of people out of work due to covid the system could not possibly hold workshops and people should be social distancing, jobs are not out there, this is a totally different situation
