What would happen if a broken ankle never recieved medical attention?

Say someone broke a bone and never recieved medical attention for it. I read online that there were things like bone infections and malunions, but what about gangrene? Is it possible for the limb or section around the bone to start rotting? What's the worse case scenario for something like this?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Gangrene only sets in if that particular bacteria gets into an open wound, so in a closed fracture, no.  A bad fracture could lacerate a major artery in which case tissue would die potentially.  Gangrene affects tissue not the bone

it would heal wrong and you could end up with a really bad limp
