Does your Cat have a daily routine?

My daughters say that my cat is spoiled rotten. She is, I guess, like a child somewhat. She gets her Sheba first  think when she wakes up. Then she wants to go down to the basement and chase bugs. She comes back in, eats her dry food and takes a nap. Then she wakes up, goes outside and chases the chickens, plays with the dog, and wreaks havoc with the birds. She stays out a few hours and then she comes in and takes a cat-nap. Then, after we get in from work, she goes out for a short time and comes in and eats. Then it's play time, then "Nite Nite on Banky" time. Does your cat have a routine such as this ? Essie is an indoor / outdoor cat but she stays and sleeps inside every night. She sleeps on her blanket on my bed at night. My kids say this isn't normal.  ??

Cats are VERY routine-heavy creatures. They depend on it. As kittens, yes, they are all over the place until they establish their own routine, day to day, without fail.

BOTH of my cats are up at about 6am and bother me for breakfast. They eat, clean themselves up, then it's morning nap time, or window time. Both cats will bug me about 9am for designated treat time (I work from home). Treats, then both go down for another nap or put around the house until they are tired. 4pm is dinner, so around 3pm, BOTH are bugging me for food, LOL. Then, it kind of diverts.

Cat One- After dinner, it's nap time in his basket or bedroom. He will not come down again until around after 7pm or so, then it's water and couch time.

Cat Two- After dinner, it's nap time in the cat tree or on the dresser, should my husband leave his clothes up there (he LOVES sleeping on his clothes, never mine). He comes down about 6pm for water and lap cuddles with myself or husband, and there he will stay until 8pm for more water.

BOTH will then play and run around the house and finally settle again around 10pm. Cat One has to sleep between my husband and I, up by our heads, and that's it.

Now, it's totally normal for many cats to change up their routine, but gradually. For instance, the cats may decide to play during mid-morning and not sleep, They have done this off and on, nothing to question. Or, after dinner, they are restless and feel like playing then, or just being naughty in general. But above all this in their normal, day to day routine. It also changes up a bit on the weekends; they are slightly more active and up and about because we are both home and up and about. If at any point Cat One is up on the piano at 7pm, something is off. If Cat Two won't stop pacing or is UNDER anything, like beds or dressers, something is wrong. It is very easy to tell if something is off or wrong with your cat if they stray really far from their routine at anytime, this is how meticulous they are.

Most pets do better with routine.
Personally, I would not allow my cat to include " wreaks havoc with the birds" in that routine but you do you.

my dog used to sleep on my bed. Sounds like u have a happy cat who is well looked after.
