  • College team colors - NAVY blue and white?

Are there any college (or junior college) teams (any sport) that have navy blue and black as part of their team colors? It needs to be navy blue, not light blue or royal blue, etc.

  • Can I hook up a different dvd player to an existing surround sound system?

I have a Sony dvd player and surround sound system with 5 speakers. The dvd player sucks, but I still want to use the surround sound setup. I have a new Sony dvd player that I want to use, but it doesn't have speaker connections. Is there a way I can just use the old dvd player as an amp and still use the new one for playing dvds? Both dvd players have HDMI.

  • Does it make sense to install a whole house fan in a finished attic?

I have a 130 year old house with no AC on the second floor. I have a large (approx 1000 sf) FINISHED attic that I plan to use for living space. I have no experience with a whole house fan. Is it ok to install one in this situation? Will it be extremely windy?

  • How do I repair a solid wood interior door that has a large chunk of the botton corner missing?

The door is missing about 4 inches out of one of the bottom corners. Too large for wood putty, right?

  • What can I do about trash in neighbor's yard?

I live in a rural part of the county (outside of city limits). I have several neighbors who have had cars parked in front of their house for months. Others who use their back yard as a land fill for trash. Is there anything I can do?

  • What sealant do I use for installation of gas stove?

I'm installing a gas stove that will be vented through an exising fireplace. I will use pipe joint compound for the gas line connection, but what should I use for the vent pipe? The pipe comes out of the back of the stove and straight into the fireplace, where another pipe goes straight up. How do I seal this connection?

    Thanks in advance.

  • Sewer gas smell in my basement and house?

I have a very strong sewer smell in my basement and house. We just moved into a house built in 1875. The drains in the basement lead to a septic tank. When we first moved in, the drains continually backed up. Last week, we had a plumber dig up a line and replace a bad stretch of PVC. He also added a trap (it didn't have one before). So we still have one drain without a trap. Since the plumber fixed the line, we haven't had any more backups, but the smell is absolutely horrible! Before the 'fix', we never noticed any smell except for when it backed up. Now, it's a constant strong odor. Any ideas? Sugguestions?

    Thanks in advance.

  • How does one go about starting a city council?

I posted this question in "Civil Participation" and only received one response. I was hoping to get some more feedback.

I've just moved to a very small town in Kentucky. As far as I can tell, this town used to have a city council, but for some reason they disbanded several years ago. I think the county maintains the town now?? What are the first steps in organizing a new city council? Will the county fight this or welcome it?

  • Evolutionists...When/how did it change?

How did the first living thing that required sweating, sweat? Through its pores? Its tongue? Some other way? How did we go from sweating through the tongue to sweating through pores? Has an intermediate ever been identified that produced sweat through the tongue AND pores? If not, how do you explain the change?

  • Evolutionists - How do you explain "Gifts"?

Such as a 4 year old seeing a piano for the first time and immediately start playing a masterpiece, creating a work of art, etc.? No one in their family has ever played the piano or painted, or whatever.

I'm not trying to start a nasty debate...just want your view on something I have a hard time grasping about your beliefs. I like to learn about what others think about the world we live in.

    Thanks.

  • Does basic math prove Evolution wrong again?

Mathematics is science and proves that evolution is not possible. For example, the 26 letters of the alphabet can be arranged in 4.0329 x 10 to the 26th power, or 403,290,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 combinations. The odds of the proper sequence of letters being laid out at random, are 1 in 2.4796 x 10 to the -27th power or .00000000000000000000000000024796. Taking five minutes for each attempt it would take 3,836,500,000,000,000,000,000 years to try them all.

Yet the scientists would have us believe that living organisms which are more complex than 26 components evolved by chance. Single cell bacteria have about 3 million nucleotides in their DNA. Mathematics show this to be impossible.

  • Does our population prove Evolution wrong?

In 1991 the population of the world was about 5,385,000,000 and the overall rate of population growth between 1985 and 1990 was 1.7%/year. At only a population growth of the worst figure for England in resent times of 0.43%/year it would only take 8 people (There were 8 in the ark) 4738 years to reach the present world population figure. At 0.377%/year population growth over 10,000 years the population now would be: 44,000,000,000,000,000. Over 50,000 years the population would rise to:

    10,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000.

  • Are scientists sure about evolution?

Life is often portrayed as spontaneously arising from some sort of "primordial soup". There it is ... quiet, tranquil, warm nutrients in a primitive sea, a lightning strike in the distance is imparting the energy of life ... soon life will be emerging to the shores... Hold it, not so fast here! To go from a barren lifeless planet to a one filled with living things, we would have to pass through a number of stages:

    EARLY ATMOSPHERE -

For starters we need a favorable environment for life to evolve and be sustained.

    SIMPLE ORGANIC MOLECULES -

We need a means of constructing the building blocks of life.

LARGE MACRO-MOLECULES (proteins, DNA, RNA, etc.) -

Some the simple molecules must be assembled into biologically useful large molecules.

    BIOLOGICAL SYSTEMS -

    Energy conversion must be constructed.

    LIVING CELL -

And finally, all these molecules and systems must be assembled together to form a highly complex living cell.
