  • What is going on with this real estate listing?

    https://www.trulia.com/property/5034676761-15007-1...

Thie real estate listing above says:

-- "This property was foreclosed and now the lender is selling it for $281,238." and:

-- "Foreclosed: The lender, ABN AMRO MORTGAGE GROUP INC, has taken ownership of this property through a foreclosure auction for the amount of ."

    HOWEVER, it ALSO says:

"04/20/2018 $51,097 The owner of this property has been served a Notice of Sale. The property is scheduled to be sold at a foreclosure auction on 04/20/2018."

As of this writing, the auction date, 04/20/2018, is over two and a half months in the FUTURE. Does this mean the property is still open to preforeclosure negotiations with the owner, or is the foreclosure completed?

  • Do I need "moisture barrier tape" for my new dishwasher?

I m installing a new Whirlpool dishwasher. It recommends optional "moisture barrier tape" for wood countertops.

Mine is laminate on particleboard, with "bullnose" edges -- the kind where the front curves 180 degrees all the way around to the bottom, making a semicircle of the edge. It s about 15 years old.

I m removing a 15yo Kenmore dishwasher which has venting on the front door in the same place as the new Whirlpool. I see that there was no moisture barrier tape installed, and I also see that there is absolutely no water damage at all to the countertop s particle board above the dishwasher.

Do I need that moisture barrier tape? Or does the bullnose design protect it?

  • What to do about chronically plugged toilet?

Our toilet has started clogging almost every time someone goes #2. I unclog it every time with the plunger, but I wonder if something has been put down there that is partly blocking the passage, like a small toy.

Any suggestions on how I can troubleshoot this?

  • Trying to hard-reset Android tablet RCA Voyager 7?

I have an RCA Voyager 7 Android tablet which on startup shows the RCA screen with the two dogs and then goes to the screen with just "RCA" with light continuously moving across it. Then it stays there.

I'm trying to do a hard reset. With the unit off, I'm holding volume up and power buttons down, then releasing the power button when the RCA startup screen with the two dogs appears. But it does the same thing -- it goes to the screen that just says RCA with light going across it, and stays there.

    Any suggestions?

  • Any suggestions for motorhome day trip to view August 21, 2017 eclipse from Fossil, Oregon?

I'll be driving our family of 5 south from Yakima, WA in a motorhome to view the eclipse. We have a family event Sunday evening in Yakima and plan to get started for Fossil early Monday morning. Normally the drive would be less than 3 hours.

    - Should we expect glacial traffic due to clogged roads? Is it unrealistic to expect to get there in 3 hours? Would it make more sense to drive late Sunday night?

    - We don't expect to be able to find a campsite. Where can we find good places to pull off of the road and view the eclipse from there? Or spend the latter part of the night, if we drive Sunday night?

    - Should we expect glacial traffic driving back after the eclipse?

    - If we can't get back to Yakima by evening, are there good places along the way to park the motorhome overnight? We don't need a campsite nor hookups.

  • What website design program would you suggest for a small business owner who has very little time for website design?

I’m still using FrontPage 2003, but it’s long, long past time to move on. I was planning on moving to Serif WebPlus X8, but Serif has abandoned it and says they have no plans for a replacement.

Any suggestions for something simple but flexible that doesn’t require 10,000 hours of devotion to master?

I'm reading in a century-old book that birds and animals grow warmer coats for colder winters, than they do for less-cold winters. Is that true?

  • Is it common for non-programmers to need to get data values from JSON objects?

A client asked me to write some Excel VBA code to parse a few field values from JSON objects imported into Excel as text. Just wondering if that's very unusual or if there might be a lot of need for that among non-programmers.

  • Tax form 1095-A shows a $81 credit on line with $0 premium. What to do on form 8962?

Partway through 2016, my contract ended and we went on WA Apple Health for a while. On Part 3 of my 1095-A, it shows the expected amount in columns A (gross premiums), B (SLCSP), and C (Monthly Advance Payment of Premium Tax Credit).

Of course, column C is not an amount literally paid to me; instead it's a discount on the premium. So for those months my monthly payment was column A minus column C.

But strangely, that last month of my contract, which was June, shows $0 in columns A and B, but the same $81 as previous months in column C. I think it must be a mistake; there was no premium to pay that month, and therefore no $81 discount on that nonexistent premium.

Following the instructions on form 8962 literally, that $81 counts against me just as if they had literally sent me a check for $81. Should I ignore it, excluding it from the amount I put in line 25 (line 25 is the sum of all the monthly tax credits in column C)?

  • DYI replacement for wiper blade cap?

My '94 Toyota Previa has aftermarket Anco brand wipers. Each blade has a cap at each end to hold in the insert. One of those caps has broken off, so the insert works itself loose, starts flapping around, and would eventually fly out. I have to pull it back into place after every short trip, and a long trip would mean frequent stops just to pull back that insert.

Anco says they can't sell me a replacement cap; I'd have to buy a whole new blade. But the Previa was designed with "wet" wiper blades, meaning that the windshield washer fluid is routed through them. That makes for expensive wiper blades.

Any ideas on how I can fashion a replacement cap myself? It doesn't have to be pretty; it just has to hold in the insert and not scratch the windshield.

  • How to remove broken car air-vent cupholder?

When we bought our '90 Nissan Maxima 13 years ago, it had a cupholder attached to the center dash air vent. It worked fine for many years.

But now for some reason it hangs down too low, holding the cup at too much of an angle. It's useless, and I'd like to replace it or at least get rid of it. But I don't see how to remove it without damaging the vent. It has two arms which extend back into the vent.

Any suggestions on how to remove it without damaging the dash, and without ending up with the rear ends of those two arms rattling around inside the vent?
