My employer has issued me with a photocopied P45, is this right?
Hiya,
My old employers are being a tad difficult with me since i quit and now after threatening to keep hold of my P45, they have finally issued me a photocopy of it. Is this allowed? i thought they had to issue me my original one?
Please advise so i know whether to chase them or not.

4 AnswersLaw & Legal9 years agoTrying to get my P45 from the job centre but they have said they cant produce copies?
Inland Revenue have taken quite alot of my wage last year in emergency tax, there was a problem when i went from claiming benefits to working. The Inland revenue said i needed to get my P45 from the job centre to prove i am no longer claiming but the job centre have said they sent it out to me and the inland revenue already, yet neither of us have recieved it. This is causing me to be over taxed slightly as well as stopping me from claiming back all the tax they took incorrectly last year.
The inland revenue are saying they cant do anything until they have my P45 and the job centre are saying they cant send a copy. Does anyone have any advise or ideas where i can go from here?
Surly this cant mean i have to stay on the wrong tax code and forget about my tax rebate?
1 AnswerOther - Careers & Employment9 years agoneed help combining these baby names?
Hiya, we have a little girl on the way and we will be naming her Molly. However, unfortunately both of her great grandmothers passed away around the time of conception and therefore were unable to be part of her life. My and my partner would love to incorporate both their names in her middle name(s) but are worried about her name becoming over the top or to much of a mouthful, therefore does anyone have any suggestions on how to fit these names in or is this just a lost cause?
Her nan's names were Brenda and Margret
Thanks for all your help!
6 AnswersBaby Names9 years agodamp strawboard bathroom wall?
We have a major problem in our bathroom, it turns out that the wall behind out tiles next to our bath is soaked. It appears that water has been leaking in through the grout and the consequences are horrible.
After peeling back the tiles and mouldy adhesive, it turns out the wall is made of strawboard and is damp right through to the other side.
We have been drying it out with a heater and have purchased some cement boards to fix to the wall once damp. Our plan is to PVA the wall then use 'Pink Grip' to put the cement boards up, followed by tiling the boards. The wall seemed to be drying out lovely until we noticed the other side of the wall (our bedroom) had damp lines appearing on the wall paper and the wallpaper was bubbling. It now looks like the wall is damp in our bedroom and also has black mould under the wall paper.
We have been chatting and decided that we are going to put the heater on in our bedroom and the dehumidifier on in the bathroom to dry it out as much as possible, then PVA the bedroom wall, plasterboard it to cover the damp sections and then wallpaper, this coupled with the work in the bathroom we are hoping will sort this issue.
We dont have the money to pull the wall down and rebuild so i would just like some advise to confirm we have the right ideas or to advise a different solution if anyone has any.
Whatever we do it has to be done soon, we have a baby due next month and so this all needs to be sorted before she arrives.
Thanks for taking the time to read this.
5 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs9 years agoDamp bathroom wall - need urgent advise?
Hiya, we have a tiled bathroom wall next to our shower but it has recently become apparent that the water has been seeping in through the grout, resulting in a mouldy and wet wall behind the tiles. We have been trying to work out the best way to deal with this, weather it's using a dehumidifier to dry the wall out and then re-tiling or cutting part of the wall out and replacing it. But after trying to cut some of the plaster board out to have a look, it appears that it is not plaster board at all, but some kind of wooden (almost like chipboard) substance, which is not hollow and seems damp right the way through to the other side.
Does anyone have any idea what this wall may be made out of, also, any help with rectifying this issue would be appreciated.
Thanks
5 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs9 years agois there any point in taking collagen capsules?
I have done a lot of research in to anti aging and repairing the damage that pregnancy can do to your body, and i have found some interesting 'supplements' and tips for this kind of thing. However, i would like to know if anyone has actually seen any kind of benefits from taking supplements such as collagen, Gotu Kola, Vitamin E and drinking green tea. Also, does any one have any tried and tested methods for facial anti aging and firming up the loose skin caused by pregnancy, the latter being my main priority.
Thanks :o)
2 AnswersOther - Skin & Body9 years agoDamp interior wall with a musky / damp smell?
When i first moved into my flat i made the huge mistake of putting the shower on the wall without tiling it (i know, it was stupid). When i realised what i had done and why the bathroom wall was becoming quite disgusting i stopped using the shower, dried the wall out as much as possible and then had a tiler come to have a look at the wall, he told me that it was dry enough to be tiled. He went ahead and did his tiling and i thought that would be that, but it isnt.
The bathroom wall is fine and i have had no problems with the tiles, however i have noticed that the other side of the wall (In my bedroom), it looks like the plaster board is damp and has started almost bubbling. This was about a year and a half ago, i have moved everything off the wall to allow air to it and for it to dry out. Which it has mostly. But now the wall looks stained and although it is not soft to the touch, if i push on it heavily i can dent it. The worst bit for me though is a very faint smell of damp in the room.
I have a baby on the way in 2 months and have started worrying about the wall and the effect on the baby so am looking for some DIY i can do here to fix the damage. I do not have the money to pull the wall down so am looking for something more suitable. Someone mentioned to me that i could put some new plaster boards over the top and paint them, while others have said that if i just paint over the wall in anti damp paint that should work because the wall is no longer getting wet.
Please could someone advise any ideas they have as i really need to get this sorted before baby gets here.
It would be handy if there were any professionals who could give me some advise also,
Thanks
2 AnswersDo It Yourself (DIY)9 years agoMy company is relocating 30 miles away a couple of weeks after i am due to take maternity leave?
I have been working for my company since 1st Jan 2011 and to be honest things haven't been great since i started working there. I haven't seen eye to eye with other members of staff and because the company have been experiencing money problems i'm not really earning what i need to.
At the moment my place of work is approx 7 miles away from my home and it costs me about £100 a month in petrol to get there and back. Unfortunately i have just been advised that they will be relocating 30 odd miles away due to a massive saving on rent. I have done some calculations and it will mean me travelling around 60 miles a day and will cost me about £270 a month in petrol.
They are planning on moving over Christmas and i am due to go on maternity leave (with my 2nd child) mid - late January.
At the moment i have an agreement with my employer that because i need to drop my son @ nursery and it doesnt open unil 8am (i have to be at work at 8:30) i usually get in between 5 - 15 minutes late, and i make this up in the evening leaving work late. When the company has relocated i am going to be in very late all the time and will be unable to make the time up after work as i will need to be home for 6 to collect both children.
Do i have any employee rights here to request a new contract to accommodate my circumstances and ask for a pay rise to cover the petrol or can my company just cut me loose?
4 AnswersLaw & Legal10 years agoParking in front of my neighbors garage?
I've been living in my flat for 3 years now and have never had any problem with parking. The area which is allocated for parking is full of garages, and therefore i make a conscious effort not to block any garages or cars while parking, this has worked fine with all my neighbors so far.
A lady has just moved in in the block of flats next to me, and she has been squeezing her car down the side of my car in between my car and the garage. After the 2nd time of not being able to access my vehicle, i knocked at her flat and told her that her car will need to be moved as i need to get my son in his car chair when i leave for work in the morning. She told me that that was her garage and she was entitled to park in front of it, and that also that i was being inconsiderate not moving over enough to allow for her car when she returns from her day out. I explained that i have never been told that this garage was in use and as i have been parking here for 3 years i didn't think anything of it. I told her that what she was doing was rude, i would never dream of parking that close to someone's car, and that she should have put something on her garage to let the residents know she was using it and therefore not to park there.
She does not use the garage to store her car, only boxes etc, so as long as i am leaving enough space for her to easily access her garage, i'm not sure she has the right to park practically on top of my car? She is under the impression that she has the right to the parking space in front of her garage, is this right?
I was happy to move my car and call it quits until she demanded i move my car away from her garage, which i did with no fuss, because i'm unsure who is in the right here. But after her performance last night i want to equip myself with information for any future 'disagreements'.
Any help would be appreciated.
By the way the flats are all private and i assume the parking is also, it's just standard resident parking with no bays set out, just a 'park where there's a space' mentality.
6 AnswersEtiquette10 years agoSerious Fear of spiders started since i became pregnant?
I have never been fond of our 8 legged friends and i have been know to jump up and scream like a 6 year old girl when i see one (as have most people), but since i have become pregnant i have been suffering from hypnagogic hallucination of them (which cause me to jump out of the bed in blind panic to turn the lights on or find myself having to catch my breath because i am terrified)
This has therefore caused me to react to spiders during the day in a completely irrational way, the other day i looked down to find one (not huge) crawling on my trousers, i couldn't talk properly for fear and had to hop around until someone noticed what i was pointing at so they could flick it off, i then nearly burst into tears and couldn't sit down for about 10 minutes as i couldn't relax myself.
Another example of this is when I just opened a box of folders and there was one inside, i had the same kind of reaction and once i was on the other side of the office i could explain what the problem was and got someone to flick it out of the window. I feel like a complete prat when i come in to close contact with one but my body seems to react before i can rationalize myself.
I think it is important to note that i am not so fearful of them that i cant walk by one or look at them, i seem to be fine all the time they stay out of my comfort zone.
Has anyone else experienced irrational fears coming out while they are pregnant or do you think this could just be a coincidence? I think it is important to note that this is my 2nd child, the first time i had nothing like this at all.
2 AnswersPsychology10 years agoNightmares coming into reality as I wake?
I've had 3 separate occasions (2 in one night) within the last 4 months, of waking up seeing spiders near or on me. I could absolutely swear on my life they were real and in my fear I jump out of bed and switch the light on, my heart pumping and fear pouring from me. It turns out I am imagining these things but they are so real when it happens and I don't know what to do.
I am now 4 months pregnant and am concerned that this could have a negative effect on my pregnancy, also I am so fearful of going to sleep, I only got about 3 hours last night and I've been so tired all day but I am terrified about going to sleep tonight.
Could anyone shed some light and some remedies for this awful experience?
Thanks xx

4 AnswersLyrics10 years agoScariest Dream i have ever had?
I woke up around half 4 this morning after being jolted awake for some reason. When i woke up i looked down my bed and there were hundreds of spiders and bugs crawling over me. I jumped out of bed, waking my other half, turned the lights on and found there obviously was nothing on my bed. I remember properly waking up only once i was by the light switch, feeling confused and scared out of my wits. My boyfriend said that he has never seen me look so scared, i flew out of bed and was jumping up and down 'freaking out'. He went out the room to go to the toilet and i was sitting on my bed, the color had completely drained out of my face and i was feeling a bit dizzy and faint. Once i was awake properly i couldn't bring myself to turn out the light and so we had to go back to sleep with the light on. It took me about half hour to go back to sleep because i was so scared.
What could this symbolize? I'm worried about going back to sleep tonight because i don't think i could do that for to many nights in a row without going completely insane.
Please help! xx

1 AnswerOther - Beauty & Style1 decade agoI have two 9 month old girl kittens that are weeing in my flat?
Are they coming in to season? One of them has been meowing really strangely and I have caught her weeing randomly around the flat. It's really getting to me as I have a 2 and a half year old and I'm not sure it's a healthy environment for him. If thi gs don't get better I may have to find another home for them :o(
Does anyone know why my kittens are doing this and a way to stop it? Also how will I know where they are weeing whilst I'm at work? I always close the bedroom doors but if I also close the front room door, it's almost cruel to leave them with the hallway, bathroom and kitchen to walk around in, it's not alot of space for them, but I'm worried that they are weeing everywhere and I'm not quite getting to all of it, I know my flat doesnt smell but am abit paranoid about it now x

5 AnswersLyrics1 decade agoWhy is my bread dough so sticky and flat?
I'm trying to make bread for the first time, and although I do not expect it to be perfect first time, I was hoping it would atleast look like bread dough! I've followed a basic White bread recipe using my food processor and the dough is sooo sticky! I've followed the recipe to the letter so I cant work out what's gone wrong (450g bread flour, 300ml warm water, 7g dry yeast, 25g butter, 2 teaspoons of salt). I'm gonna be trying again tomorrow, so any advise would be appreciated, oh and any tips on kneading brcause I have no idea how to knead although I only need to do that for 1min because I use my processor!

6 AnswersCooking & Recipes1 decade agoWhy does my sister get so upset so easily? Had anyone been through this?
My sister has had a lot of problems growing up, we moved houses when she was 10 (i was 8) and she instantly didn’t seem to get on well at school. Meanwhile me, her and all my cousins where subject to my uncles inappropriate behaviour with us all (although not physically). After this was discovered and my uncle was told never to come near us again, my sister was moving up to senior school where she was being bullied quite badly. In year 8 she was beaten up by a massive gang of the bullies outside the youth centre (i was there and saw it all) and my mum took her out of school and placed her in another. She got on OK and made some friends but again was subjected to bulling by some of the kids that knew the main girl of the gang in her previous school.
Anyway she did not get on well at all through out her school life and often cried her eyes out if she had to go in or truanted from school. She eventually left early (when she was just 15) and started working in a local shop. Things where finally looking good for her until she met her first serious boyfriend, she was pregnant by the age of 17 and gave birth just before she was 18. Just after she gave birth, her boyfriend, herself and one of his mates ended up in prison for a something they where all very stupid and out of order for doing. She missed her son's first Christmas and when she came out 3 months later she found it difficult to bond with him and therefore found motherhood extremely difficult.
When her boyfriend came out of prison 11 months after her, they moved in together until she found out he was cheating on her with her best friend, he later moved out.
The next 4 years went by, she lost a lot of her friends as they where split between my sister and her ex best friend, and therefore she didn’t get a lot of visits or go out a lot at all.
She started working in a pub where she met another guy, and to be honest i don’t think she has been as happy as she was then, she was earning money, had quite a lot of friends and a lovely boyfriend. This again soon ended as she was not seeing her son a lot due to the hours she was working, and her and her boyfriend split up (although she seemed a lot stronger through that split).
I don’t want to go on forever but she has also had ALOT of trouble with her neighbour playing music in the early hours, fights and parties at all hours, and therefore she came to blows with her neighbour quote badly as well, she ended up in a fight with one of her neighbours friends, the police / council didn’t do anything and she was having to deal with the whole thing with no support. While this was happening she became very good friends with a girl down the street and therefore got out of her flat a lot and had someone that she could tell anything. They became very close and it was nice to see she finally had a friend who she could trust. Her friend worked full time and so my sister looked after her kids and generally did a lot of errands for her during the day as my sister was not working.
Her friend then managed to get her a job at the nursery she is working at and got her enrolled in a child care NVQ, i was over the moon as things where finally starting to look up for her.
That was until her friend started acting really weird and basically started being nasty, she started to have a go at my sister for the smallest thing and they now do not get on at all. She called my sister out of the blue a month or so ago telling her she wanted her keys back and that she had heard that my sister was bitching about her! My sister was completely shocked as she was so grateful for her getting her the job.
This is where she is now. She's bursting in to tears at the drop of a hat and is getting very stressed out with the job as the majority of the women working there are complete bitches. i know she does not eat properly at all and hasn’t for as long as i can remember and as a result she has bed skin and always looks knackered. I thought the tears were because she needed to get used to the early mornings and going to work but she has been there for over 2 months and she is still so sad. She told me that she spends most on the nights and Sunday worrying about works and preying for the end of the day.
I’m so worried about her but i don’t know what to do anymore, has anyone suffered from the same kind of thing or know anyone who has? Is there a cure or anyway she can stop herself feeling so down and crap about herself. I wish she could move away from the street she is in as she has so many bad memories there but the council are not obliging at all.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks x
4 AnswersFamily1 decade agoHow does my toy watch know what date it is?
Really weird question i know, but i have a toy watch and as well as the time it also has one window to tell me what the date is (1st, 15th, 30th etc). I changed the date yesterday and when i looked at it today it was half off the 14th and half on the 15th. I changed it to the 15th and heard it click in to place, but now im wondering how it will know that it's 12 in the afternoon not 00:00 and also how it knows that this month is a 30 day month not a 31 day month, or will i need to change it every time there is a 30 day month?
Hope the above makes sense!!
