  • Help find This American Life story w/ The Onion News writer who wrote Harry Potter Books Spark Rise In Occult?

A while ago I was listening to Ira Glass interview the writer who wrote the satirical story "Harry Potter Books Spark Rise In Satanism Among Children". He told of how his own father went to a special meeting at his church where his own church members went on about how they need to fight against JK Rowling's books and they used the satirical story his own son wrote as evidence of their evil influence on children lol. The father at the end got up and spoke to them letting them know his own son wrote the story, that it was for satire and comedy, and they should think about how fear affects their thinking.

I desperately need to have my friend listen to this story. As many Americans should right now. I cannot get through a day without hearing all kinds of crazy fear based insanity. Please help me find this story and let's pass it on.

    Thank you

  • What would be a good product to bring from W Virginia to Michigan to sell?

I'm planning on selling my products that are unique to MI in WV, KY, IN, and OH. I am looking for products or used materials in those states that would be something we could use in Michigan that I could trade here in order to make use of my return trip. I've been searching for each state's exports but haven't come up with much yet. Would also partner with someone in those states to trade each other's product.

  • What are the maintenance costs possible on a 26' box truck?

I'm thinking of buying a 26' box truck like you would rent from penske or uhaul. Renting them costs me a fortune. I am wondering though how much a year one of these could cost to maintain if I buy one used. Any references appreciated. Thank you!

  • Are used HDPE Pickle Barrels safe for storing emergency potable water supply?

I have a source for 55 gallon black plastic HDPE barrels that were used to ship pickles and pickle brine. They get dumped out and then cleaned. Sometimes before they are cleaned they might get some mold or something. If I clean them really well with bleach are they safe to store emergency drinking water or water for camping trips? The seller calls them food grade/food safe.

  • Once a refrigerator is molded can it be salvaged?

I have obtained some used refrigerators and appliances that were in storage and full of mold/mildew. I know in the past I could never get a moldy refrigerator to not smell moldy again and someone has told me that there is no way to solve the problem, that they will never be good for food again. Is this true?

  • How to replace power adapter for electronics?

I have several electronic devices that are either missing power adapters or that I'm not sure which goes to which device. How do I know what power adapter to use with a device. Is it strictly to do with volts/amps and whether or not it fits?

  • Washed stone taken from roof, is it safe for landscaping?

When a vegetable packing plant re-did their roof I got several loads of round natural stone from their old roof. I'm wondering what contaminants might be in it from being on the roof and what I can or can't use it for. Or any way to wash it so that it would be safe. It looks clean with no obvious contaminants.

  • How to secure my rain barrel fittings?

When making my rain barrel, I thread a plastic spicket into the barrel and secure it with washers and rubber o rings as well as silicone caulk. A female threaded fitting clamps it on from the inside. I am having problems... no matter how tight I crank on the fittings I can rotate the spicket in its hole a little to easily if I try to and Im guessing that breaks the silicone seal. Maybe brass fittings would hold tighter in the beginning but I want to stick to plastic fittings. Any advice appreciated!

  • How to disinfect and clean tools from old barn?

I could use any ideas for mass assembly line style of cleaning tools of all sorts, bolts, nails, etc. They were in a barn full of mildew from a flood and infested with raccoons and rodents. What I have been doing is setting up 6 plastic totes and tossing piles of tools into them, rinsing them off with a hose in between putting them in each tote. The first tote water, 2nd tote simple green, 3rd disinfectant cleaner, 4th bleach water, 5th and 6th clean water, then I dry them in the sun. Its been working pretty good but I would like to do this with more old barns and find better ways. And maybe there's extra steps that could take rust off and such. Thanks!

  • How to clean old horse tack from old barn easiest way?

I have lots of leather horse tack equipment I ended up with. It had been sitting in an old barn for a long time. I know nothing about horses and horse tack. Its full of caked on dust and who knows what. I would like to clean it up and sell it. I am hoping for a method that involves putting it all in a 55gallon barrel of soap and then taking it out and maybe putting some kind of oil on it. Whatever is the fastest easiest way to get it sellable. Thank you!

  • Will my new business have any IRS trouble after taking on the same customer as old business?

On the side I have been helping manage and run my father's business. Due to his financial hardships and a loss of our main contract to a competitor the business has accumulated too great an amount of payroll tax debt (Including IRS, MI SIT, MI SUI) that with only the smaller service contract income left, the business must close. I would like to start my own corp and will be working with the same customer, doing the same work as I did for the old business. It will also remain on the same property which will remain owned by a third business my father has. There is no written contract or assets to aquire. However I would most likely be hiring the same employees including myself. I do not want to have any tax avoidance issues or end up taking on any of the old company's debt. We are not trying to get out of it but my disabled father is uncollectable and I myself have been working for free to help. So since someone must start a new business and take over it might as well be me. What problems or issues should I look into?

  • Where can I find support and advice for caring for an elderly family member in the hospital?

I've noticed that the hospital care is lacking and I've been wondering what I can do to make up the difference as far as bringing in better food and other things. And wondering how to go about obtaining better care from the staff without upsetting them as I've noticed rehab and hospital staff are a bit touchy and it seems that you don't want to ask for too much. But what is too much and what is not being assertive enough? I'm specifically dealing with an elderly family member who is recovering from surgery in a rehab facility that is sort of like a rest home and they are having a tough time of it.

  • Gas Dryer - Black (Exhaust?) is staining inside of dryer and clothes, what is going on?

The problem lessens when the vent is cleaned. However my question is should there be black exhaust going through the inside of the dryer in the first place. Is it an effect that happens when theres not enough airflow and that makes the dryer run poorly and create black exhuast, or is the exhuast always there but just doesnt build up when theres good airflow?

Should there ever be black exhaust period or does it point to a problem with the dryer? Im confused that I haven't heard any mention at all of this problem from anyone on all of the internet searching I've done. Has anyone had this happen?

    Thank you!

  • Is it acceptable to install a gasclothes dryer exhaust vent 1 ft. below the level of the dryer exhaust output?

We had a roof vent but it clogged too much and decided to run it out the side of the house but the only option was through the floor and then through the floor rafters to the outside. Now I'm worried that exhaust may want to come back towards the dryer since heat rises.
