What are possible side effects or things to look out for after Intramedullary Rodding Surgery, in the Tibula?

especially anything about the big toe or the knee getting stiff, also any tips or advice for taking care of myself, I'm about a week out of surgery and my docs were not real communicative. I've been searching for so much as a pamphlet about what to expect after surgery and cant find much except others 1st hand accounts and advice. I just want some info cause I don't know much about caring for broken bones.

Your main concern immediately after surgery would be the incision sites that they used for rod and screw insertion. In time (months or years) the screws might start backing out and then there would be little bulges beneath the skin where they were inserted. I would also recommend increasing activity gradually. There might be knee stiffness because that is the primary entry site for the rod. Your big toe may have been injured in whatever accident that you had. Another good suggestion would be to call the doctors office and see if he would order you physical therapy and that would help greatly.

Here's a great website for you to take a look at while you're recovering. I went on there alot after my son broke his femur. You'll find alot of people with the same injury as you. They can answer all your questions.
