What do blind people see when they dream?
For example, someone who is born blind--has never seen anything--what happens in their mind's eye while they are dreaming?
1 AnswerPsychology1 decade agoIf George Washington did not wear wooden teeth--did anyone during that time period?
Sources claim that Washington did not actually wear wooden teeth, but had dentures made from other materials such as ivory...
2 AnswersHistory1 decade agoWere people with wooden teeth during the 18th century still able to eat corn on the cob?
For example..President George Washington?
4 AnswersHistory1 decade agoWho benefits the most from mass media that is presented with a LIBERAL bias?
Or maybe even the reverse: who benefits the most from mass media that is presented with a CONSERVITIVE bias.
How might mass media be presented in a way that benefits everyone? Is this possible, even?
7 AnswersMedia & Journalism1 decade agoWhy do so many accuse the mass media of possessing a LIBERAL bias?
I am just curious to know what that means, even, a "liberal bias" when it comes to imparting news.

14 AnswersPolls & Surveys1 decade agoHow are the terms CONSERVATISM and LIBERALISM currently understood in public discourse about politics?
The essential meaning of both words seems to be the exact opposite of how they are used and applied to various political perspectives.
For example, the work of the Bush is one of the more radical presidents in U.S. history--but the label that he claims for himself, as well as those who follow him, is CONSERVATIVE.
How come?
9 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoIf a university degree is so important...then why are so many people distrustful of professors?
A university degree is the key to success in American culture, yet many people (not all, of course) in our society distrust, discredit, dismiss the perspectives and opinions of those individuals who actually make a university education possible: THE PROFESSORS.
How come?

6 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoCan I trade my American citizenship with someone who wants to immigrate to the USA?
I have tons of education (2 masters degrees, and I am almost finished with a PhD)--I could work or teach in most any country in the world. The difficult part is finding a work visa in another country--just like immigrants coming here to the USA.
Can't we just work out a trade of some sort?
25 AnswersImmigration1 decade agoWhy does the application process for a legal work visa take years?
"Each approved visa petition is placed in chronological order according to the date the visa petitioin was filed. The date the visa petition was filed is known as your priority date. The State Department publishes a bulletin that shows the month and year of the visa petitions they are working on by country and preference category (see eligibility information above). You can estimate of the amount of time it will take to get an immigrant visa number by comparing your priority date with the date listed in the bulletin. For instance, suppose you look under your country and preference category, and see that the State Department is working on applications they received in May 1996. If your priority date is May 1998, then you may have to wait several more years for an immigrant visa number to become available."

7 AnswersImmigration1 decade agoWhy cannot immigrants SELF-apply for a legal visa to work in the U.S.A.?
"You do not directly apply for an immigrant visa number. In most cases, your relative or employer sends a visa petition to the USCIS for you (the beneficiary) to become an immigrant."
"USCIS will tell the person who filed the visa petition (the petitioner) if the visa petition is approved. USCIS will then send the approved visa petition to the Department of State's National Visa Center, where it will remain until an immigrant visa number is available. The Center will notify you (the beneficiary of the application) when the visa petition is received and again when an immigrant visa number is available."

4 AnswersImmigration1 decade agoMight the immigration issue be a distraction from other more REAL problems?
There have been millions of illegal immigrants in this country for decades--let's all count them together--decades. It is a huge sector of the economy of cheap, underpaid labor.
People act as though this is a new issue, since it exploded back into the media about a year ago, and news and talk radio shows started blabbing about immigrants draining health and education services.
The money they DRAIN is pennies compared with the BILLIONS of dollars tax-payers spend each month on the war in Iraq. That is a real problem, bombing the crap out of people who cannot defend themselves, causing turmoil and civic unrest and war there.
Which is worse? Spending a little tax money to help sick people (American or otherwise)? or spending an OBSCENE amount of money on bombs and weapons to hit a defenseless country?
21 AnswersImmigration1 decade agoAre there no citizenship requirements for medicaid?
I visited a COUNTY (supposedly a tax-funded) hospital ER once, and my bill was $500. Shouldn't my bill have been paid for like an illegal immigrant? People claim left and right that illegal immigrants are getting free healthcare and draining the system. What gives?
