Curious about people and what makes them tick. Why we do and say the things we say.

  • what kind of speaker system do I need to hook up wireless headset?

I just bought a wireless headset for teaching a dance class. Haven't used one before and now I need some sort of speakers or sound system to hook up the headset. I have no idea what I need. Any suggestions?

  • I have a Palm Tungsten E2. Is it worth buying a memory card to play tunes or should I save for an MP3 player?

The guide says you can use it like an MP3 player. It has an external speaker. I would need to buy a memory card but I'm not sure it's worth it.

  • Teachers carrying guns in school?

I know this question has been proposed before but I'm from Missouri and our governor has now suggested that teachers in Missouri might be permitted to carry guns. Rural Missouri is a strong gun-advocate area and it scares me to think we might start arming our teachers. I can't see how it can help but I think this is a real possiblity. I wonder if the media focus and attention on the details has contributed to the increase in these incidents. Not that it shouldn't be reported - it's the details that I think are more impacting on potential copy-cats.

  • ABC 911 Docu-drama - is this an example of democracy and freedom of speech?

OK - so I'll admit I would be characterized as someone with a liberal bias - not sure what that means and that's the problem. Does the new ABC docu-drama which is reportedly loosely based on the report of the 911 Commission enhanced with star appeal a good example of freedom of speech? My immediate reaction based on reports that it was a slam on Clinton with no blame on Bush was to be opposed to it. After watching some discussion by people on both sides of the issue, I started thinking maybe this is good thing. If we used these types of things to listen, discuss and draw our own conclusions - whatever the producers' bias - then we would learn and take appropriate action. My fear is that we have come to accept sound bytes as facts and are easily swayed. I would really like to hear sound thoughtful comments - not just justification for "left" or "right" politics - notwithstanding Rush Limbaugh and Al Franken.

  • Has anyone watched The Tick?

I thought this was one of the funniest shows I've ever seen. Loved the goofy off-beat humor. I bought the series since it went off the air so quickly. Does anyone else share my views? Why do you think it got cancelled so quickly?

  • Does anyone care? What can we do as Americans?

What can we do to shift from debate and polarization to discussion and cooperation? Even tho I have strong opinions about policy and politics, I try to avoid nasty, rude comments and hatemongoring. I'm almost afraid to try to discuss my views because it seems that people who disagree with me get mad and if we already agree then it's simply "preaching to the choir." I would like to see America as a place where we can have open discussion or even debate without open hostility. Any ideas? Does anyone care?
