  • Is this fair?

I'm living with my cousin, and she's been giving me a lot of crap because I'm not big into housework and cleaning. But before you judge me, read this:

I'm unemployed, unfortunately, and having a lot of trouble securing a job of any kind. Naturally, I can't help out financially. Since I can't help out with money I help out in lots of other ways. I run ALL the household errands. I go to the supermarket, pick up her meds at the pharmacy, drop off return packages, pick up packages from the post office, mail out any important documents, order and track the items that have been ordered, deal with customer service when there are snags, and process returns and exchanges. I balance her checking and savings accounts, pay her bills and make sure that all of this is done on time. I also keep track of when her prescriptions are due. I wash the dishes after every meal and help with the cooking, and I take out the trash. When laundry needs to be done, I'm typically the one to take the initiative, and I frequently hang up the wet laundry and take down, fold and store the dry.

Knowing all of this, is it fair to be harangued because I'm not diligently cleaning? Normally, we get along great, but there are days when we get into this, and I don't think it's right since I'm doing all that. She doesn't have to worry about anything I've mentioned; I do it all, and I don't complain except when I feel like I'm being told that I'm useless. Am I not pulling a fair share of weight?

  • Can water pressure be controlled by apartment in a building?

My neighbor is driving me nuts telling me that her water pressure is lower than mine. She lives beneath me and tells me that she hears my water blasting while hers "trickles". That's actually an exaggeration on her part, but she's really driving nuts with that. It doesn't make sense to me that her water pressure is really lower than mine when we live on the same line. So, is it really possible that water pressure can vary apartment by apartment, or (at the risk of sounding disrespectful) is she just imagining things out of frustration? I mean, my water pressure isn't exactly Niagara Falls, but she won't stop harping on the issue. Thanks in advance; I'm going batty here.

  • Percentage rate...?

    How do I calculate this:

A character is at 10% mutation currently. She should be at 100% mutation within one hour. What would the rate of mutation be before transformation is complete?

  • Are writing contests really worth it?

I've been entering writing contests off and on for several years now. I'm beginning to wonder, though, if they're even worth it. You bust your head for a week or more trying to come up with stuff, and all you get is zilch if you don't win. You don't even come in second sometimes. And if you don't win absolutely, your work isn't even recognized or critiqued. All the effort boils down to nothing more than a personal writing exercise.

I'm starting to feel that writing contests don't allow writers to shine at their best because they're just highlighting the favorite work in the JUDGES' opinion. But just because the judges didn't regard the work as win-worthy doesn't mean that it was no good, yet no one will ever know how other readers really felt about all the entries that didn't make the cut. That doesn't do so much good for the writer's self-confidence. It makes a writer second-guess their abilities and talents, and I even wonder whether the "losing" works don't get filed away for good story ideas by the judges themselves.

Needless to say, I've never won a writing contest. I fared better on a fanfiction piece I wrote once on an online gaming site, and even on Wattpad. I'm starting to believe that writing contests are just exploitation, especially when the winning piece is dumber than what I submitted (yes, that's happened). I can accept defeat gracefully when I see someone who entered a good masterpiece, but that doesn't always happen. Just wonder what others' opinions are.

  • My rent check was stolen and cashed by someone else. My bank's giving me the runaround... what can I do?

I live in NY State. I made out a check for my rent, and found out 2 months later that somehow someone stole the check and cashed it to their personal account. The check wasn't even endorsed, yet the transfer of funds was authorized. I've been in a back-and-forth with my bank's claims department since February, but I'm still getting the runaround. What else can I do to get this resolved? My landlord's hassling me, and I simply can't afford to scrounge up an extra month's rent that should've already been there.

  • Did I do wrong?

My class had a celebration and there was food and drink. I wanted to bring a little something to my mom, but there was nothing much left but some chicken chunks so I brought her some in a sandwich bag. She made me wish the party had never happened, saying that I had fairly treated her like a dog, bringing scraps. I never intended that at all, there just wasn't anything much left and I wanted to bring her SOMETHING. She said I should've taken something for her when I took for me, but my thoughts are, is that fair to the class who should've had first dibs? I mean, if everyone thought "Let me take some to my kids, spouse, etc., there wouldn't be enough for the class who even contributed home-prepped foodstuffs and $. So, did I do wrong? Does my mom have a legitimate cause to be offended? Am I wrong in feeling that the class had priority, and that it would've been wrong to take food to bring home when the rest of the class was still eating from it? I meant no insult; I really meant well, and now I just feel sick and sad. And I threw the chicken out to the stray cats. I don't want it after that. It's a matter of principle for me to know. Thanks.

  • Can a computer program be manually uninstalled?

I've been trying to remove a program from my computer, but the "uninstall" feature isn't functioning. My computer just won't let me take it out with this. Can I actually uninstall it manually? If I do manage to delete all related files, will the program really be completely gone?

  • Is it safe to put a cap over a temporary filling, or should a permanent filling be put in?

My mom needs dental work and has a tooth that needs a cap. She's got a temporary filling in that tooth and the dentist says that he's just going to put the cap over that, but we're not sure how safe that is. Should she have a permanent filling put in? Also, if anyone can answer this, how much does a cap go for these days? Thank you!

  • Is it a skin ulcer or something else-I hope?

My friend has developed something on her leg that looks like a scratch. I have fears and suspicions that it may be a skin ulcer. Please tell me what the symptoms are and if the symptoms include stinging and itching of the affected site. She uses hydrogen peroxide to cleanse the area and Neosporin to try and get it to heal and keep it free of infection. Please help, I am very concerned about her.

  • Asking Resident Evil movie fans...?

I'm looking forward to the next installment of the Resident Evil movies, so I keep checking out the gossip about it. What I want to know is, is it really true that there's a newspaper clipping shown at the end of RE or RE2 saying that Leon Scott Kennedy was killed? I read that on ScreenRant, but I don't recall seeing that. I own all the RE movies, and I've combed the endings of the first two in Slow-Mo, but the only newspaper clipping I see is in the first part with a headline that says the dead walk. The rest of the article is too indistinct to make out the rest of the text, but I don't see anything that remotely resembles Leon's name. The most I make out is S.T.A.R.S and military actions.

Can anybody set me straight on that? 'Cause I don't see anything like that. Could the writer of ScreenRant be wrong, or do you think they got to see something most of us viewers couldn't? The writer also said this article was shown at the end credits of Resident Evil: Apocalypse, but I they're wrong about that; there's no article shown at the end of that one. I checked that out, too.

  • Any good, fairly clean fantasy fiction reads?

I'm looking for some good fantasy fiction novels. Does anyone know any good YA reads? I mark these because sometimes they have less sexuality than those intended for adults. I'm bored of reading about bare bodies and lusting in those books.

I'm open to adult fantasy fiction, too, but only if I can be assured that the sexuality is kept to a minimum. I'm not a prude or anything, but, really, I want to read about magic and action. If I wanted to read porno, I'd tune my reading accordingly.

  • What's the name of this fantasy novel?

All I remember is that the main character's name was Alanna and that she was a lady knight. I think it was a book series. What was the name of that book/series, and who wrote it(them)?

  • What's this item called?

I want to know the name of that little wooden figure that artists use as a model when they want to draw a human body. It's flexible and doesn't have any features; just the likeness of a human figure.
