I have a mind of my own and I'm not afraid to use it. I'm here to have fun and make new friends. I enjoy a good debate, a good cup of coffee, and love a good laugh. I don't always play nice with others.
What should I get her?
The daughter of an online friend is graduating from middle school. I've never met them in person, but this friend is very dear to me nonetheless. I have no clue what to get the graduate. She's 14 and a model. I could use some advice on an appropriate gift. Thanks!
3 AnswersEtiquette1 decade agoQuestion about NCIS LA ...?
I just started watching and I am completely baffled by the building they are in. What is that? The office looks like a palace, but there are people milling about in the background. Then the interrogation room looks like a boathouse basement. Can someone please enlighten me? Thanks!
3 AnswersDrama1 decade agoWhy do people wear things to get attention, then become indignant when they get it?
I took my daughter to an Easter egg hunt with a friend. Another mother there had on a very strange-looking dress. It was blue and very low cut with an odd white something poking out barely covering her breasts. The dress was strapless, but she also had a pink polka-dotted bra sticking out, which was very obvious by the straps and with the back showing above her dress. My friend and I were debating on what that white piece was. Was it part of her dress, or was she wearing two bras? It was just very strange and ill-fitting. In trying to figure this out, we were apparently staring. The woman snapped, "What are you looking at?" which was obviously embarrassing. The point is, why wear something as ridiculous as that to purposely gain attention, then get angry when someone notices?
8 AnswersEtiquette1 decade agoDo you think technology is re-writing the English language?
This question is inspired by a new word I just ran across that gave me pause. Yousta - as opposed to "used to." I'm dating myself here, but I can barely understand half of these questions and it's not just teenagers. Punctuation, grammar and spelling seem to have been tossed out with the trash.
Does anyone else feel that we are cheating our children by allowing this? Do you consider this acceptable? Does anyone even care, or is literacy a thing of the past?

I asked my aunt for her recipe for a pound cake. Her recipe called for 1/4 cup lemon juice. I didn't want the lemon flavor since I was going to serve it with fresh strawberries, so I used 1/4 cup milk instead. Also it called for cake flour. I used regular flour, but sifted it until it was extra fine like cake flour. Otherwise, I followed the recipe verbatim. The cake cooked over the top of the pan, then collapsed. The end results tasted delicious, but it made a huge mess in my oven and the cake was embarrassingly ugly. Any tips for future reference would be appreciate.
5 AnswersCooking & Recipes1 decade agoShould I have told her ...?
I was at a party where I got into a pointless conversation with an acquaintance about foods. This took place next to the buffet table. I mentioned that I don't care for capers, which inspired her to list all the foods she hated with much emphasis on liver. As I listened, I bit my lip to keep from laughing because as she expounded upon how gross liver was, she was scarfing down crackers heaping with pâté. Should I have told her she was eating liver? What would you have done?

I've actually played poker for coupons. But have you ever played for time? Like betting a half hour instead of a dollar amount?
It's really interesting. I've collected babysitting hours and once had to spend an hour wedding my neighbor's garden. Other interesting scenarios have also come up, but I won't discuss those.
Would you consider it?
