I was formerly Mom5grlz, and yes, i have 5 girls. I'm an adoptive mom to two of my girls. What i love: Children, outdoors, biking, camping, scrapbooking, pool parties, hammocks, jogging, rollerblading, writing, sunshine, music, dancing, friendship, kindness, animals, mangos, moonlit walks, cuddling, learning something new every day:) What i hate: racism, confederate flags, hate in any form, cancer, awkward silences, gossip, abuse in any form, veal, tight spaces, whistling, brussel sprouts, & clowns I was raised in an alcoholic, abusive and dysfunctional family. I've worked hard all my life to overcome the obsticals my parents set in place for me. In the end, I had to severe all ties to my family of origin to create sanity in my life and safety in my children's lives. No love loss there, i never fit in. The cycle ends with me. I hate adults who hurt children. I live by......Be the change you wish to see in the world~ Ghandi
Do you have any advice for me, my husband left in the middle of the night after 15 yrs?
We have been having some problems, i thought we were working them out. I didn't really expect him to move out. Has anyone ever been through this? Any advice?
I feel like my heart has been ripped out. How did you cope with your emotions while being strong for your children? We have 5 kids together.
Kindness is appreciated. Thank you.

8 AnswersAdoption1 decade agoOut of fear of abandonment, did you as a child try to please your adoptive parents and try to fit in?
As an adoptive parent the idea of this really bothers me.
Any advice how to distinguish this type of behavior or how to prevent it?
8 AnswersAdoption1 decade agoAdoptees who felt pain from relinquishment, did meeting your Mother and hearing that she DID an DOES love you?
help with the feelings of abandonment?
I sympathize with the feelings of abandonment and it seems natural to ask "why didn't she love me". How did you feel when you met and your Mother says she has loved you all along? That your relinquishment was more about circumstances (too many to list) and not about the amount of love she had and has for you.
Still looking for a glimmer of hope i guess. The idea of my children thinking this about their Mothers makes me physically ill.
Thank you so much for sharing your feelings. Please please no thumbs down:)
10 AnswersAdoption1 decade agoIf I was immunio supressed with chemo "type" drugs for about a year....?
I've been off all medicine since July 08. When will my immune system come back? Its slowly coming back, but I catch every cold and sniffle, strep throat.. you name it i get it. Its a little past annoying:)
What time frame am I looking at before I'm "normal" again?
Thanks. I can't get a straight answer from the drs. I feel weird asking this because i'm so thankful i'm "healthy" and its more an annoyance. I have 5 kids to raise and i'm ready to move on.......when will my immune system catch up?
1 AnswerOther - General Health Care1 decade agoIs there such a thing as teaching "too much" cultural diversity?
Recently, some friends were joking around with me stating that celebrating Kwanzaa is wonderful but as African Americans they don't know any families that actually do this.
Same for Juneteenth, Ancestor Honor Day, and Martin Luther King, Jr. day.
My Brazilian friend added that her children are now American. They want all the American holidays not Brazilian, anymore. Personally, I'm glad she has that luxury but as an aparent I feel i do not have that option......thoughts.
15 AnswersAdoption1 decade agoPrimal wound, I'm struggling to understand...Help?
I am reading and re-reading trying to digest one chapter at a time.
Attachment happens between adoptive mother and child.
Bonding can only happen between biological mother and her child as a continuum from the womb.
I get that. My problem is when i come up against this definition of the word bond.
human bonding: typically refers to the process of attachment that develops between romantic partners, close friends, or parents and children. This bond is characterized by emotions such as affection and trust. Any two people who spend time together may form a bond.
My head is just spinning trying to wrap my mind around this.....help.

It seems natural that you would wonder how holidays were at your other family's home. If they missed you or thought about you. Or am i wrong?
