  • Inflamed ear piercing causing swollen lymph node?

Hi I got my right ear pierced in the cartilage about 3 weeks ago, and it was healing alright but in the last week or so I've accidentally slept on it a few times so it's gotten a bit red and inflamed, and I haven't been cleaning it properly (Ive cleaned it today). I've also got a swollen, tender lymph gland on the right side of my neck, which has only come up in the last few days. I'm thinking that they're related, and I'll just take care of my piercing and the lymph gland should be down in a week or so I just wanted to get some second opinions. Thanks in advance ☺

  • I need some help and ideas for my driver's licence photo?

I live in Queensland, Australia, and i'm going for my P's test next week, and when i pass i get a new photo and licence. My last photo looks so terrible, when i was 16 i had blonde hair (which did not suit me AT ALL) and wore heaps of eyeliner on the bottom only, so yeah it looks so bad. I have dark brown hair (almost black) now and brown eyes, with fair yellowish-based skin. I just need some tips on what sort of makeup to wear and some good hairstyles ( i hate having hair pulled back heaps, half up half down is best for my face shape). Also, we aren't allowed to smile in the photo so what sort of expression/positioning etc should i do in the photo, you can get away with a slight smile (more like pulling the corners of your lips up a bit) but thats it. I just really dont want my photo to look as bad as the current one, thanks in advance :)

  • I need some information about French Horns?

I have just started playing French Horn again after nearly 3 years, though i only played for 3 or 4 months before my family moved town, and i didn't take up music again at my new school so i hardly remember anything about it. Im 17 and iv played flute since i was 9. I have a few questions about the french horn, its a double but im not sure how to tell the difference between the sides, and i dont start lessons until next week so i cant ask the teacher (he travels to a couple of different schools). I have a flute which is in tune so what note do i play on flute to tune my french horn to, and to figure out which side is F and which side is Bb? i dont have a smartphone or i would just download a tuning app.

  • Is this a normal reaction to an adrenaline rush?

A little while ago i got in a fight at school. Just as the fight started i had this huge burst of energy and strength and a strange taste in my mouth, sort of metallic. The teacher (a large man, im a girl and im 5'11 and 78kg the teacher would have been 150kg and 6'4) grabbed me but i just wrestled right out of his grip and went after the b*tch again. When the fight was over i was escorted to the principals office and i was breathing hard and my muscles felt weak and a was shaking. At that point i stilll wanted to jump back on the girl i was fighting but i got enough reason back. Also i noticed i was injured but i felt nothing when it happened and it wasnt until 30 minutes or so later that i really felt the pain. I know that must have been adrenaline, but is that a normal reaction to an adrenaline rush?

  • Is this tinnitus and can it be genetic?

Ever since primary school iv had high pitched ringing in my ears, or at least thats when i became aware of it. My dad has it as well. Sometimes (every 2-6 weeks roughly, though sometimes i dont hear it for months) the noise will 'swell' in one ear, the sort of ringing you get when you get whacked in the side of the head. it lasts for 2-5 seconds and goes away. I barely notice the noise except at night or if i have my fingers in my ears. Im pretty sure it is tinnitus though i am going to book a hearing test soon. I have been exposed to loud noises (loud music, machinery) though i am more careful now. Could this be linked to my dad's tinnitus? I have inherited heaps more qualities from dad than i have from mom even things like heartburn lol so i wouldnt be surprised. Is there any treatment for tinnitus? or anything that helps lessen the noise. Iv heard that earwax and hairs in the ears can cause tinnitus so can that be fixed

  • My horse had a nosebleed?

My horse stays out in a paddock and we feed them twice a day. I called them in yesterday and i noticed my mare was bleeding from one nostril. It wasnt a lot of blood around 1 tablespoon or less than and it was trickling out. During the time it took for me to go to the house and get a cloth (5 minutes) the bleeding had stopped. She did have a bit of a run when she came in but i work her harder than that and it hasnt happened before. She is an OTTB she came of the track 4 years ago so i dont think it would have anything to do with that. Just need some help as to what could have caused it. She is a bit clumsy so it wouldnt surprise me if she hit her nose on something or stabbed herself on a stick etc. Is that likely to cause a nosebleed?

  • Please help with PUK code?

i got a new phone and i put my old sim in it (telstra) and it worked fine. I was trying to put a lock on my phone but pressed the wrong thing and PUK came up on the screen. My sim was activated for me 2 years ago when i got my phone, but i dont remember who activated it, or their details. Is there any way to retrieve my PUK code without going through telstra? I have heaps of contacts that i need, so even if it cant be unlocked can i take it to a telstra store and get my contacts out of it?

  • Is it illegal to ask for alcohol?

I am under 18 and live in Queensland, Australia. If i go into a liquor store and try to buy alcohol and the worker knows or at least suspects i am under 18, can they call the police and/or fine me, or just ask me to leave? I do look older than i am so i thought about just trying to bluff it and hope for the best, but i just wanted to know what can happen

  • How should I properly care for my dyed hair?

My hair was a medium to dark brown and i dyed it dark purple using Schwarzkopf Live Salon Permanent in Deep Burgundy. I love the colour how it is and i dont want it to fade a lot. Is there a special shampoo for purple hair that helps it stay vibrant? Also if it does start to fade out can i use the Schwarzkopf Live 8 wash rinse in purple over it, just to liven it up a bit?

  • Aggressive cockatiel help?

I recently bought a male cockatiel from a pet shop, and he is quite aggressive. He is in a large cage and at first he would hiss and sway as soon as i walked into the room, and scream and fly (or hop or whatever, his wings are clipped) around the cage when i put my hand into the cage to change his food and water. Iv had him for 3 weeks and he has gotten a bit better, i can sit next to the cage and whistle at him and he usually whistles back, and when i change his food and water he will go the furthest perch and just watch me, and if i move slowly i can get my hand about 15cm from him but he moves away if i get any closer. Do i just keep going slowly or is there anything else i can do to gain his trust? Like any particular food that cockatiels really like that he might be willing to eat from my hand or something. Also, he has a block of cockatiel seed in his cage, plus a container or loose seed, and 2 or 3 millet sprays at a time, but he only seems to eat the millet sprays, there arent any marks in the block and he might have been eating some loose seed as there is less than there was but i havnt seen him eating it or if hes just spilling it, he doesnt seem to be losing any weight. Are millet sprays ok as the main food source? He is kept in a cage next to my budgie who is quite tame, and they whistle to each other regularly so dont think hes lonely. Can i feed him fruit and veggies? Are there any that are bad for him? Thanks in advance :)

My natural hair colour is light Brown, almost blondish brown, I have dyed my hair blond, but I havnt got the right colour, it just doesn't really suit me, I want a dark brown, but I don't know what shade will suit without me looking washed out or wrong. So a few suggestions would be really really appreciated :) thanks

  • How do I put weight on my horse?

I have a OTTB mare and i feed her a lot, i give her maxisoy and that helps put weight on her, but if i giver her too much she gets colic so i had to cut it down, now she is dropping weight again, i found this feed called weight-lifter in my local feed shop and am using that, mixed with extra chaff and maxisoy. Is there anything else i could add to her feed, preferably natural, like vegetable oil and sunflower seeds (they are the only ones i know about) any suggestions would be great, i hate seeing her ribs. Also she lives in a big good quality paddock and gets plenty of hay every day

  • Need help with jumping?

I have an OTTB who im currently re-training. She has shown plenty of talent in showjumping and i am working on that with her. The problem is, she is not very consistent (i know that is probably my fault) one day she will jump a course of 8 1.40m jumps with perfect form and not touching a single rail, but the next day or the day after (whenever i ride next, i usually ride every day but giver her one day off) she will refuse/ jump awkwardly over a knee-high cross rail, i have tried a whip but that just freaks her out and i don't like hitting her, i was thinking about dummy spurs but that's a last resort for me because i don't particularly like spurs or whips. Anyone got any tips? its not my confidence, as i am experienced with jumping and i have confidence over fences. Any help or tips would be appreciated. She is very good with groundwork and is always well-behaved.
