As of March 6, 2009. People are starting to see that banks are dangerous and FDIC is unreliable. I've warned people of this for months. I'm a top contributor for a reason. People thank me for telling them NOT to get a savings account, NOT to get CD, and if possible, avoid banking altogether. • What is the significance of Haile Selassie being crowned?

Was he the first black King of Ethiopia?

Or just the first Amhara? or first Christian?

Why and how was he crowned, and would any other person crowned have also fulfilled the Rastafari prophecy?

Was Ethiopia the first country to break free from European colonization on its own?

What made Haile Selassie either special or different than any other African king in the 20th century?

  • The Christmas Song by Mel Torme "kids from one to ninety two", does it refer to age? 92?

I have hard time believing they would arbitrarily choose a number 92.

If it had any meaning, it probably wasn't about age.

Is this a more plausible explanation?

"And so I'm offering this simple phrase,

To kids from one to ninety-two"

    WU war code numerically 1-92.

Ok, I get the part where they'd have to declare bankruptcy.

How many cars would've been sold to Americans on the cheap as part of liquidation?

How many cars have been made since then?

  • what do we call those lamps with a green glass shade?

I think we typically see them in libraries, office desks, banks.

They are desk lamps, with a green glass shade over it. the skeletal stand is often metal (gold).

  • is it legal to advertise sales prices with sales tax included?

If it is, isn't it funny that you literally never see it?

You'd think in the 21st century where people can shop around on their cellphones, merchants would get smarter somehow.

Online, you often see "free shipping" or "shipping included". Why don't we see these at marketplaces, trade shows, small businesses, ..etc.? Especially when most of these places take cash.

I'm sure people don't like counting change, so what's stopping them from advertising "all prices include taxes, out the door" and keeping all numbers in full dollars? Wouldn't that save both time and money?

  • In 200 years, would African Americans be classified as Germanic or Anglos?

Are African Americans (blacks) any less Anglo, or Germanic than Mexicans are "Latino"?

If we classified people by what language they speak, would that be accurate to call African Americans "Anglos"?

If it's not fair to classify English speaking Americans as "Anglos", why should we call Latin Americans, such as Mexicans, Costa Ricans, Brazilians "Latino"? Or why should we call Arabic speaking people "Arab"? What separates a Jordanian from an Iraqi or Iranian? What makes Turks and Kurds non-Arab?

  • Dear millionaires, tell me what I am missing?

I challenge anybody who is a millionaire to tell me why I need to be jealous or aspiring of what you have that I do not.

I am debt free, I do not hate my job.

I do not have kids, or alimony.

I regularly save the money I do not need.

I have the time and money to travel at least once a year.

I live in a quite neighborhood, no worries of extreme weather and little of crime.

I do not own a house, but for what I am saving aside, I can either buy one later or have enough to pay rent until I die.

I currently have no health insurance, but luckily I have never needed it.

I can eat and drink almost anything I want at a given time.

I have quality, drama free friends and acquaintances.

I have good relationships with my family.

I never intend to get married or have kids, as that would be a liability, not an investment.

Tell me, what do I want that you have?

What can't I buy that you can?

  • how do millionaires live?

Please only answer if you are or know a millionaire.

How many days a year do you spend traveling?

How many days do you "work" (work is defined as doing something you dislike, or trading time for money)?

What do you eat every day?

Other than freedom from debt, what do you have and enjoy that people who are not millionaires cannot have?

Do you spend more time trying to spend your money or save it?

How much money do you spend to keep and protect your assets and lifestyle?

For those who do not have kids, do you intend to spend all of your money before you die?

These cards advertise that you can get up to 10% cash back on select merchants.

From your experience, what are they?

  • What does a car cost if you don't intend to drive it?

I am asking this question because, I can sympathize with people who are unable to pay rent, but I cannot for people who cannot buy a car to live in.

A car is not ideal ,and certainly not comfortable, but it sure beats a box or a roofless bench.

If you don't intend to drive your car and only use it as shelter, is there any reason it would cost you anything but $1,000?

If you decide to register, insure, it's at most $300 a year, and pay gas as you go, right?

I can fully understand a person who does not have a job, is unable to pay $1000 for his rent. But is there any excuse he cannot own a $1000 vehicle before he's evicted? (Don't bother telling me your car can't fit your belongings, because your shopping cart and park bench can't either)

  • Is "open source encryption" an oxymoron?

If we know the source code of a program, what is there left that we don't know? (wouldn't know the source code tell you exactly what a program does without exception?)

If there's anything we cannot know from looking at the source code of an algorithm, what good is the source code?

How does an encryption program work if its source code is open for review, and how does one know that it DOES work, if the source code can be reviewed, but something is left unknown?

  • What does Riemann's hypothesis have to do with encryption?

In the TV show "Numb3rs" , episode Prime Suspect , they describe that Riemann's hypothesis, if solved, would give great insight to internet encryption. They say that R's hypothesis predicts where prime numbers are, and encryption depends on the fact people do not know where they are (in other words, once solved, we can know what and where prime numbers are, rendering encryption's foundation worthless)

Is that theoretically true? If so, does that mean there is no such thing as encryption & protection if Riemann's hypothesis (or whatever encryption depends on) is fully understood?

Or, are there measures against such events? Is asymmetrical encryption designed for this purpose (maintaining the integrity of security even if the foundation was solved)?

Does the show accurately explain these concepts?

  • is laughing self perpetuating?

I noticed that, if something is extremely funny and I actually (literally) laugh out loud, I end up spending 5 minutes or more unable to stop, almost involuntarily, unintentionally, and unconsciously.

Within a minute I pretty much forget what's the funny, and my body seems to continue the act of laughing, is it just intertia? or am I just laughing while I catch my lost breath? or is there some brain chemistry that makes laughing perpetuate even after I've forgotten what I'm laughing about?

  • Is this a good way to make money if you can wait a year?

    It's graduation season.

If you live in a major city, you'd have 2-3 colleges in your area.

That means, a few hundred (if not thousand) students are attending their graduation ceremony.

Each person pays about $50 for their cap & gown, they only use it ONCE.

It's then stored in their closet, or eventually thrown away.

Why not hold a sign at the exit of a ceremony "I'll buy your gown, $5"

Maybe you'll be a little more generous and offer $10.

Wait a year, until the next class is ready to prepare for their ceremony, unless you'd be so unlucky to have the school you targeted change their gown style, you can reasonably sell the used gowns and caps for at least double what you invested. $10-20. Buyers say $20-40, you make $5-10, everybody wins here.

All you need is patience to wait a year, and some storage space in the meantime.

So if you invest $200 this year, and collect about 40 sets of grad-wear, you'd reasonably make $200 in profit within a year.

At today's interest rate, you'd need more than $10K in a CD to make $200 in interest.

  • what are benefits to having an LLC?

I want to know if there's any reason a home office or one man operation should register as an LLC, rather than DBA, or simply file taxes as an unemployed, or self employed person.

For example, if my businesses were freelance webdesign, advertising, promotion, and some shipping & handling, and I work mostly from home, is there any reason I'd want to be an LLC?

  • What's so special about Tao Te Ching? Taoism?

I'm not talking about the religion, but the Lao Tzu philosophy.

Is it any different than fatalism? I know it has lots of shared grounds with pacifism, but it seems as though it literally advocates letting things be, and "inaction".
