Plato is the Prophet of Flatland
(formerly Katie, and Moses Supposes(Gene Kelly)) Raised in a mix of apatheistic Catholicism and Judaism. I graduated with a B.A. in math and a deep appreciation for science. I've found the materialist doctrine of the skeptical community to be lacking. I've turned to mysticism and mathematical platonism. The idea of the eternal realm of ideas captivates me. I am also convinced that mind preceded matter. I believe we can find bliss in this realm and also the solutions to our problems. I believe in the goodness of humanity and of this reality. I find that evil is simply symptomatic of a rejection of the profundity of reality So, I classify myself as a Panentheist. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S5fPwE7GQOA http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H9Q6SWcTA9w http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SR-tzgU07XY http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=89NyiYSY9G0&feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wcZFIy2mfyE
Why do people explaining separation of church and state ignore the founder's mainly political aim to keep the Anglican church out of US gov?
There seems to be in the narrative of SCS that the founders tried to make a secular government because of a dislike of religion. It seems like it was rather their attempt to keep English influence over the colonies at bay by not including a state religion. Avoiding scenarios such as the Catholic church and the monarchies of Europe and the developing situation of the Anglican church and the colonies.
7 AnswersReligion & Spirituality6 years agoAre prophets in the Judeo-Christian tradition allowed to teach killing for God and to kill people?
It seems like a very un-prophetic thing to do, but what are the rules exactly?
4 AnswersReligion & Spirituality6 years agoWhy don't Muslims remember the violence that prophet Muhammad taught and practiced..killed 600 Jews, teaches killing of non-Muslims in 9:29?
It seems they remember him only as a benevolent figure.
Or do they? And if so why is this indicative of a prophet? Surah 9:20 says to Kill Christians and Jew because basically they've taken "partners to God" like the "infidels of old" namely "Christ" and the prophet "Ezra"
5 AnswersReligion & Spirituality6 years agoIf Islam is just a kind of Arab nationalism is it really possible to separate the government from the religious aspects?
What I mean by Arab nationalism is the belief that Muhammad brought his people out of a dark age of barbarism creating an Islamic empire and strengthening an literacy and an Arab cultural identity. It is said that before Muhammad people buried girl infants alive and there was widespread barbarism.
4 AnswersReligion & Spirituality6 years agoWhy is taking infidel (Kufir) concubines permitted in Islam since these baby infidels increase the infidel population?
Also why is rape of any infidel permitted? It potentially increases infidel populations.
I thought one of the goals of Islam was to increase total number of Muslims, and by creating infidel populations they would be counteracting these efforts??
3 AnswersReligion & Spirituality6 years agoWhat is the best way to reconcile the Islamic concept of "abrogation" of the "perfect word of God" in the Quran with the perfection of God?

1 AnswerReligion & Spirituality6 years agoHow do Trinitarian Christians reconcile the implicit Panentheism of the divinity of a material entity (Jesus) with original sin?
Note: I'm looking for --- SERIOUS --- answers, and snarky answers will not be given priority.
Explanation: Original sin encapsulates the idea that material in inherently "flawed" or "sinful" and only the immaterial is "pure" or "divine".
If Jesus was both a material being and divine there is a contradiction of theology since by the doctrine and ideology of original sin it follows that material is "impure" and therefore not "divine".
