  • Has Yahoo Answers been hacked?

I've been noticing that I've been getting these ridiculous answers to ancient questions that have no relevance to the questions themselves. They feature broken English and off the wall comments and though I changed by password a few days ago, I just received another. I've run my email through haveibeenpwned to find that back in mid November something happened. But, no other aspect of my account has been effected by this. Is it just an Answers problem?

  • Is it wrong that I avoid my sister?

My sister and I are half relations. Each having a different father we were raised by hers. A rather dysfunctional man he exhibited traits of his family's legacy mental illness (a sort of mix of bipolar disorder with that of a borderline personality issue) and was very difficult to live with. Not being his son I was relegated to a low spot on the family totem pole and could be said as having been abused by him. My sister, displays many of the same symptoms he always did: uncontrollable crudeness, a drive to forever be the center of attention and a generally chaotic way of going through life I find it hard to be with her. There's more to it than that. But, suffice it to say, she and her father share a lot in common. Now, I find myself practically running when I see her on the street and trying to avoid her at whatever family get together there is. Personally, I feel as though that man's family and its mania was rather put upon me. Having she have the same issue opens a lot of wounds up for me. I do see to it that her affairs are taken care of: paying for her yard maintenance and footing her heating bills and the like, I'm not a derelict brother. But, I just can't be with her. Is that wrong or understandable to you?

  • How do you change a father's name on a birth certificate in Massachusetts if both mother and incorrectly listed father are dead?

I am the result of an affair of sorts. My mother when separated from my stepfather had a one night stand with my dad. I didn't know my dad until I was 13 and now that both stepfather and mother are passed my dad and I would like to have me be known as his correctly. I don't miss either one and have wanted this forever. But, without they to sign off on this how do we proceed? We're meeting with an attorney soon. But, I'd like an idea of where to go with this.

  • What is your opinion of parents that had kids at a very young age?

I'm in the process of reconnecting with my father after a long absence (long story) and I'm starting to wonder if our age difference being so little for most that it may pose a problem for many. He was extremely young when I was conceived. Though, were it not for an interloping, soon to be ex wife of his we would have held together. It should be noted that we kept in touch mostly through letters years ago before I'd the ability to email (mid 90's) and she intercepted a few of mine and replaced them with ones of hers. Making him think I hated him for his being so young at the time.

  • My father wants to reconnect after a long absence and I'm wondering if I'm in the right in wanting it to happen?

17 years ago, my relationship with my father was cut off. I had been raised by my mother and husband being abused most of the time by him. Being made to do most of the work around the house and being hit were common. When the pair of them were coming out of a fight it came out that I wasn't his son (to my relief) and elements of my father's identity came out. I sought him out and eventually succeeded. I was 13 and was elated to have made contact. So was he as he'd been wondering if anything had come about from when he and mother were together and always had the possibility of a child in the back of his mind. He was young at the time and didn't understand what he was doing. I won't say how. But, were peer pressure not involved his decision to carry on wouldn't have occurred. We built up a close bond by my mid teens when the treatment I'd been receiving became clear to him despite my trying to keep it quiet and we began to work on my moving in with him. At the time I was rather isolated in the countryside and didn't have internet access. With talking on the phone being impossible thanks to my parents we kept in touch, beyond our meeting, by way of mail. One day, after our having started to plan my letters began to come back. His fiance had been rejecting them at the door while sending false ones under my name. Ones that made him think I had come to hate him. They're about to be divorced now and the admission came out and he's trying to reach out to me now.

  • Is there a way to recover an old Vista product key from a 'windows.old' file?

I've an ancient Dell laptop that I use for church purposes that had to be reformatted recently. Only, given its age the key sticker has fallen off and I'd lost its CD. Terms being such a pal of mine that dabbles in computers reformatted the drive and reinstalled Vista for me. Only, I now think he may have not actually used the proper key. But, one that just happens to work with the motherboard (another techie friend says so, anyway). But, not the unit overall. The old windows is saved. But, I'd like to see if I could somehow retrieve the old key to compare it to the one he wrote down to make sure. These two friends it should be noted don't get along and I may just be between their sparring on the matter.

    Thanks.

  • What is one odd injury you've gotten?

I just got back from the emergency room after having gotten the hooked end of a Chinese food carton stuck through my finger. I thought I'd only pulled slightly to free it from the container for it to have gone right through the nail and the thumb itself a split second later.

  • Is it normal to be 'horny angry?'?

I had a rotten day in terms of my mood today. It seemed as if everything that happened ticked me off somehow and come 6pm I was just totally off the rails. Yelling at the dog after getting home, cursing out the fridge door for closing too loud. Stupid stuff. Then, my better half came home and after being a bit brusque with them, somehow knew I needed something and instead of yelling back at me, got me upstairs. A little over half an hour later I'd melted into a sappy puddle. I've heard of people getting like that. But, I never really experienced it myself and found it weird for me to be that way.

BTW: It had been almost ten days since our last time together thanks to our schedules being packed.

  • Is there a double door with a sidelight that opens instead of having a whole second door in its place?

I'm trying to find a door that can fit in a narrow front hallway that won't swing too broadly as it would hit a stair leading to the second floor of my parent's home. However, the house needs a wider door in the front so as to fit larger items in and out of it as getting a washing machine into it recently required the removal of a window. The stairway isn't directly behind the door. But, is in the way as the door opens up and a wider one would find them in the way and I was wondering if such a door exists where the sidelight is the second door rather than having another as a normal double door would be too wide for the stoop out front.

  • Have you had to deal with a jerk recently?

A one time friend of mine from Canada has been laying into folks lately with 'dumb American' jokes lately and I had to end our relationship tonight over it. God knows why, but, they've turned into a terrible snob lately and have been turning their nose up at everyone they see as being below them. Which, as it turns out is something of a common occurrence from what I hear for him.

  • What is one stupid or just dumb thing to happen to you recently?

Ever have to be run to the ER because your dog ran into a floor lamp, sending it into a clock on a shelf that sent a beer bottle across a table top into your nose as you were leaning over to aim a paper football?

No? Well, aren't you special? ;)

PS Seriously, I'm loading up on antihistamines to keep from sneezing it hurts so much.

  • Would this person be drunk or just nuts?

I'm at my house in the college Mecca of the US (Cambridge, MA) and have just observed a young man running down the street in what appeared to be a child's Spongebob floatie tube and not much else.

I'm thinking he was drunk as were he just nuts he'd have something to prove. Suffice it to say, my mom's garden gnomes have bigger equipment.

  • Sean Hannity and Russell Brand went at it on air recentl: Can we just agree that they're both just awful?

Whatever your stance on the Israel/Palestine issue, neither of these guys should be allowed to speak in public. Which, is to say that were I king they'd both be banned to someplace truly awful. Detroit sounds about right.

  • What would you like to say to me?

Go on ahead. Just let it fly. I'm just sitting here waiting for either the moon people to come or the voices to start and am bored without either.

  • Is this video from an Indian action flick epic or just lame (5min)?

To me, it's one of the funniest things I've seen as it's epic in its lameness.

  • Is it wrong to chuckle at your dog's face after they try to eat a bee?

She's been given meds for the swelling and is sleeping now. But, it looks as if there's one of those little cocktail umbrellas opened up in her mouth and we just can't help the snickering.
