  • Scuba diving in Taiwan or Okinawa?

I want to do the PADI open water diving course and but I need to decide between going to Okinawa or Taiwan to do it.

Any information on what the diving is like in either place, specific dive centres etc. would be much appreciated :-)

  • How can I easily reimburse someone for postage?

Someone from a London library is going to post forms to me in Scotland. I'd like to offer to pay for the postage (it'll probably only be about £1.10 but I'd still like to offer as they are doing me a big favor). Is there an easy way of doing this?

  • Is the Sherlock Holmes character under copyright in the UK?

I am studying education and as part of my course I have to make a website to help learners of English. I want to do a Sherlock Holmes theme but we are not supposed to use copyright material, particularly as my site will be published in university webspace and the uni doesn't want any trouble.

No profit will be made from it. It will simply be a free site for people who are learning English and part of my coursework.

  • Any advice for a traveller in South Vietnam?

I'm flying to Ho Chi Minh City for a week in December but I'd like to get out of the city and go somewhere more rural, perhaps near the coast. Any ideas? (I don't drive or ride motorbikes so it has to be somewhere I can get to by public transport)

  • What kind of tablet PC should I buy?

I'm thinking about getting a tablet but don't know how to choose. I want something reasonably lightweight with a long battery life and lots of memory that's good value for money. I travel lots, often to different countries and I don't want any kind of contract with it.

I'll mainly use it to surf the web (is this only possible with wifi or can some also be connected to a modem via a cable?), listen to internet radio, make skype calls, listen to my own music, watch movies and upload photos (possibly also videos).

Being able to write documents and connect to a printer would also be useful.

    Any ideas?

  • Can you correct this German letter?

This is a letter to a dentist in Germany who my British dentist has hopefully referred me to.

I'd be grateful for any corrections/ways to make it sound more natural particularly from German natives.

  • Should I stay for new teeth?

Ok, this is my situation and I'd appreciate some more opinions about what I should do.

I'm 25 and I was born with a genetic condition that means I didn't develop lower adult teeth. I still have baby teeth now and they're not visible when I speak so have never been a problem but...they will eventually fall out.

I have the chance to get permanent new implanted teeth on the NHS however as my jaw is small I would first need a bone graft at the front of my jaw then some chiseled away at the back. I'm a bit scared about how I might end up!

Also, because it's the nhs I won't even get an assessment until October (at which point they could say I'm not a suitable candidate) and then I'll have more waiting and could be lucky to get it done by the time I'm 30.

The other problem is that I'm unemployed and have been trying really hard to find work for a couple of months. With the UK economy like this my chances don't seem to be getting better.

Then today I got an e-mail from a company I used to work for in Japan saying they're recruiting again and did I want to reapply. I think I have a good chance of getting the job and don't want to miss the opportunity (I love the job and the place) but if I go I won't get the implants.

So, should I stay here desperately job-hunting and try to get the implants or go to Japan and just get a denture when my teeth fall out?

  • Can you name this painting?

I saw an amazing painting in the Albertina Gallery in Vienna last August and I can't remember the title or artist.

It's a night/evening scene an on the right you can see a city in the distance. On the left there's a person lying on a hill and above them a giant bouquet of flowers.

I suppose it could be described as surrealist and there might have been other images in the sky, sorry my memory's a little vague!

  • How would you feel about having false teeth when you were 25?

I don't just mean one or two, a whole set that you have to take out at night.

I'm torn between dental implants (long and complicated process that means putting my current, very happy life, of travelling and working around the world on hold) or dentures (cheaper, less complicated but...it means false teeth at 25!)
