Will getting married next year significantly reduce my tax refund?
My fiance and I are sort of planning on getting married next year. I have a 10 yo son from another relationship that lives with us >>>50% of the year and I am able to claim him as a dependent every other year (per the circuit court judge that decided this - even though they have no jurisdiction over federal tax law) but can file as HOH every year. Last year I received a very generous refund even without claiming my son as a dependent because I could do HOH.
So my question is... Will getting LEGALLY married even be worth it? From what I understand, I will not be able to file as HOH but will at least be able to claim my son as a dependent ***every other year. Neither one of us has any sort of health benefits that we could share if we did get married and I own almost all the propery that is in our home. Together we earn between $20-$25K (until one of us earns a degree) and he is currently eligible for federal aid to attend college.
5 AnswersUnited States9 years agoCan I send a resume instead of going in and filling out an application?
I have a nice resume and cover letter ready to go. Is it okay to mail them out instead of going place to place filling out apps even if it's just for a PT job?
Thx!
3 AnswersOther - Careers & Employment1 decade agoHow am I doing this Physics wheel (rev to rad) problem wrong?
A wheel has a radius of 5.51 m. How far does a point on the circumference travel if the wheel is rotated through an angle of 25.8 revs?
I've tried a bunch of different ways... What I think is the correct way is to convert rev to rad... 25.8*2pi=rad and then plug in the rad to Theta=rad/r with Theta being the answer. The answer I get is incorrect when I solve like this.
Help is appreciated... this is holding me up on finishing other problems!
1 AnswerPhysics1 decade agoWhat to do when your dad is dating someone you disapprove of?
My parents have been divorced for 10 years and I think it was for the better (for my dad anyway). He has dated in the past few years but I've never met any of these women. Recently he started dating a lady that both my sister and I think he is way too good for. And it's not because we're jealous...
She's obviously a drunk. My dad is a moderate drinker and he doesn't need a partner in crime.
She is unemployed and owns nothing. My dad is about to retire, owns his home/ new auto, and is a generous man.
She takes no initiative to clean/cook/etc. My dad really needs help around the house (my sis and I are both moved out and in college).
We're both worried cuz she's been staying there and my dad will probably move her in. My sister said this lady was at my dad's today sleeping all day!
This isn't a jealously thing! We think our dad can do a lot better. What can we do? We both know that when you're in love you tend to not listen to others' opinions... but when it's all said and done they were usually right. Can we do any damage control?
11 AnswersSingles & Dating1 decade agoCan a snake eat a rabbit with suspected Pasteurella?
I just had a guy come over looking for some rabbits to feed his snake (I raise rabbits for show). I have one to give him but have another one that I was going to put down because of a snotty nose (I just got this one from someone else last week). I suspect it's Pasteurella but might be another kind of respiratory infection.
Would it be safe for him to use this one as snake food? Can snakes catch any respiratory infections that rabbits are susceptible to?
3 AnswersReptiles1 decade agoBest way to heat a sheltered space ?
I want to heat a 10x10 dog kennel and keep the temp about 40*F. It has a peaked tarp roof that I will need to add an insulated layer to. The sides have insulation boards. This is where I house my show rabbits so the way I heat it will need to be safe. Efficiency/ cost is second.
1 AnswerOther - Home & Garden1 decade agoUsing expired Terramycin?
I have some water soluble Terramycin (I think it expired 06) I'd like to use on my rabbits at 1 tsp per gallon to treat diarrhea that I suspect is being caused by an overrun of E. coli. Anyone have any experience using expired antibiotics? I know that it "may not" be effective but wanted some opinions.
Thx!!!

It's been a year since I got out of the 10 year relationship I had with my abusive boyfriend. We have a 6 year old together though, so it seems like there's no escaping him. This is one of the main reasons I think I'm nowhere close to getting over it.
I think if he were totally out of the picture, I could start to heal. But is it even possible? Unfortunately he's now wanting full custody of our son...
