  • NFL player question?

There was a guy in the NFL who was on the Rams in preseason maybe 5 or 6 years ago. His last name sounded something A'a manana noo AY. I was trying to find out how you spell his name or if he is still around. I think he might be Somoan.

  • facebook restricted access or deactivated account?

a few days ago, when I searched for one of my friends, his name came on one the search bar, and when I clicked his name, it said, "this page does not exist, with the facebook thumbs up." So I thought my access was restricted. My friend count had not decreased. (I don't know if he was on my list of friends, I did not check.) Then I called him and asked him about it, and he said he deactivated or deleted his account. After our conversation, I checked and he is on my friends list now, with the generic light blue and white male facebook profile picture, but it says "account inactive: this account has been deactivated. Only you can see Greg on your friends list. You have the option to unfriend Greg." When I search his name, it does not come up in the search.

I just thought this whole thing was weird. Wouldn't he say, to his friends, I'm going to deactivate my account or something, before doing it, if that's the case. I'm just trying to figure out if I'm paranoid or what the real deal is.

    Thanks all for the help.

  • dressing a deer--question?

hi, i'm working on a piece of fiction and wanted to see if anybody might cut off the head of a deer first before hanging it up to be skinned. say you don't want to hang it by its legs then might somebody hang it from its ribs or from its spine? would this be realistic at all?

  • do some people actually NEED braces for their dental health?

A person close to me said that she needed braces, and she got them, but she needed a lot of preliminary work, like some root canals and something else (I forget). She has frequent ongoing dentist appointments (maybe orthodontists, I don't know). She said she "needed braces" for her dental health, and that something was misaligned. It's caused another family member of mine several thousands of dollars. It's my contention that she just wanted them badly, for cosmetic reasons. Do some people actually need braces for their dental health? I think no; people have only been getting braces for the past 100 years or so, if that. Some developed countries aren't nearly as gung-ho as we are about dentistry.

  • MS Excel sorting question?

I have a very long spreadsheet, thousands of rows. The cells I want to sort by are formatted as text. I have tried formatted as number and it still does not work. For example, I have something like this, three separate rows:

    3-45

    6-3

    4-9

I want it to look like

    3-45

    4-9

    6-3

but Excel will not do this, whether formatted as number or text. The hyphen has to be in there b/c it is a land tax parcel number.

  • bird call--please help me to identify?

there is this bird, at least i think that it is a bird, who only comes around every so often. it's call sounds like "ying-ying." it is metallic sounding and drawn out over maybe a second or a second and a half. it reminds me of when you hit a hollow metal flagpole and can hear the echo go up and come back down. if you can't help, can you at least point me somewhere? by the way, I am in northeast Ohio, about 40 miles south of Cleveland. A bunch of crows were making a whole lot of noise, too, before i heard the sound today, if that helps with identification. Thanks :)

  • new gun barrel won't get clean or gas ports?

i just bought a mossberg 930 12 gauge shotgun. i'm a real newbie and have never owned a gun before, but i used hoppes solvent with cloth and then a wire brush and a soft brush extension and there is still some residue about 6 inches in from the breech side of the gun. is this normal? is it ok that that residue is in there or does it need to come out. i've used all the tools i have and it it still won't come out. i put some of the lube in there after fiinishing cleaning too.

    Additional Details

so i went to the store today where i bought it. they said that these were the "gas ports" and are supposed to be there. they look like they are protruding to me, but they said they are actually indentations and are supposed to be there. can anybody confirm this? they are about 6 or eight 8 inches down from the breech side; the two holes/residue are right above the cylinder on the barrel where the gas piston assembly connect into. thanks again.

  • greek or other myth about spiders?

sometime ago in a philosophy class, the professor said something about spiders being created by the union of two lovers, thus the eight legs, but I haven't been able to find this myth anywhere, I just find the one about Arachne and Athen, but this isn't it. Can anybody shed some light about the myth of a spider being the union of two lovers? Thanks.

  • mistaking kind for degree (and vice versa)?

I have made an error in judment; I thought people in this city were X, and people in that city were Y, but as it turns out, people in both cities are X, though in varying degrees. Is there a philosophical term for this, i.e., mistaking degree for kind? (It's not a category mistake, from what I can tell.) And also, what is it called when you do it the other way and misidentify a difference of degree, when it really is of kind?

  • recurring dream in a narrow passage way, crawling?

I just realized today while answering another question on YA that I'm having a recurring dream. I'm in a very narrow passageway, crawling and wriggling through. it's very narrow and i'm quite worried about not being able to fit through, I mean, getting stuck. This is the dream. I don't really move through the passageway too much. It's just my fear of getting stuck. Sometimes I do get stuck. I can't really go backwards. I can't see behind me. Forward is unremarkable and tight. Perhaps I've just answered my own question metaphorically writing this.

  • random hair check at hair salon?

i was at famous hair, just a regular chain haircutting place, and i had a lot of hair to get cut and it took like 40 minutes, which i thought was super long. and then at the end, my stylist asked one of her colleagues (maybe her boss?) if she wanted to check my hair, so she looked and my hair for like 90 seconds and said it was ok, all the while my stylist is there all nervy-eyed like. i asked my stylist what that was about and she said they just do random hair checks every so often, but it wasn't really random since she asked for it. maybe she's a new girl or on probation; either way customers should get to know this beforehand. i just thought it was weird, since i'm an adult and have never had this happen before. has this happened to anybody else?

  • movies similar to the seventh seal?

i saw the seventh seal and liked it a lot. what movies are similar to it? I mean in terms of good/evil, life/death, the nature of God--the big questions about life, done in an artful way. i really liked the allegorical style; even still, the major characters were still whole and developed, and not coookie cutter.

  • law and order: svu tonight?

man, both of those sucked! right? i probably won't watch it again this year. used to be a lot better. one thing that was really funny was that the adopted girl appeared to be in imminent danger but then the story line changed direction and it didn't loop back to the adopted girl until the end.

my fav is crimial intent with goran and eems (or however you spell it)--great chemistry and goran is super smart.
