ok so let me say a little bit about me. basically i'm a little bit of a geek in everything. science history and yes, video games. I don't dress like steve urkel or like any of the guys on the big bang theory, so don't assume a certain look. also i don't walk around everywhere playing on a gameboy ds (seriously people do that here at my college!). i have a small number of friends, most of them tend to be geeks also in a sense, though in wildly different ways, take the word geek as you like.

i try to be nice and compassionate to everyone, get to know everyone by at least a first name basis even if i can only count my good friends on my fingers.

i'm pretty bad at small talk typically.

i'd never cheat or play behind a girls back, i've lost a friend recently because he did exactly that to my two friends.

i'm a terrible flirt.

i don't have much experience dating.

my interest are narrow, i'm trying to find out how i can talk to some people who have nothing in common so well with, but not other.

I guess i just wants to basic advice on maybe flirting or getting a girl to see that i'm a really nice guy, that you would want to date also.

i've been suffering from depression for a few years now, thats an important tie bit.

one big driver of the depression (as of late, again, two years there are a few things) is that i've been lonely and finding someone to isn't exactly like flicking a my wrist, especially for me. i don't warm up quick and I'm a bad flirt, also i think i get the reputation as just being a nice guy, but people don't want something more.

but back to the current predicament:

I have a friend, i asked her out (in a weird way, because of prior circumstances, ask if you wish to know about that) and she said no. we were very good friends before and very good friends after. she's the kind of person that you'd want to keep as a friend even after something so awkward.

there in lies the problem though, i really think she is a wonderful person and i still deffinetly have feelings for her. i was thinking they would fade with time, and i think they will still, but little things remind me of how wonderful i think she is and i feel disappointed, because i know i can't be with her. and unfortunately i haven't found anyone else that has captivated me yet, to get my mind off her.

however, now the question is, as I'm depressed currently, what do i do now? she notices something is up, she notices it's worse around her (i feel emotionally bad all around in general). what should i say or do? it's hard to mask and even though she's very understanding, honesty is hard here.

could a program that uses a lot of your cpu's resources ruin your hard drive. like me personally, i really like to virus scan a lot, especially after visiting foreign websites (like for school research or computer help), could running a lot (6+ a day easily) "wear out" your hard drive, or what ever? thank you.

i am going to buy a j and j barrel, i don't want to get a kit from j and j website due to the expense, but if the barrel adapters that come with it dramatically increase accuracy i may not buy from zephyr or some other paint ball website.

ok I know that they are "divided" and distribute power equally, but why don't they add like in series? i don't seem to fully get it, and i tried to think an analogy using water, but that doesn't seem to work which got me think... is it part of some weird behavior in quantum mechanics that wouldn't be covered? if so please try to explain in laymen terms so i can get a general idea.

i am kinda wondering since i fear my neighbor could, though i doubt he would.

ok part of this question has been answered thanks to Vincent G who's answer to nomolino question helped me but i still want to know a it more. why do we rely on hydrogen fuel cells for the next generation of hydrogen cars? i know a big problem with electric for trucks is the power torque produced from electric motors is insufficient for large loads. i don't see why we focus on converting chemical energy from hydrogen-oxygen reactions to to electrical energy, and then to kinetic through the already problematic electric motor when we could skip the electrical energy step.

The main problem of hydrogen is bulk, and second, its cryogenic nature -- it need to be chilled to -252 C (-423 F) to be in liquid form.

First, the bulk issue. Liquid hydrogen takes about 4 times the volume of hydrocarbon fuel for the same amount of energy. Since long range airplane have fuel filling all of the wing, replacing jet fuel by hydrogen would mean filling the fulelage as well, leaving no room for the passenger or cargo, unless you are willing to have a much enlarged fuselage, or external tanks. But enlarged fuselage or external tanks would create more drag, so would need more powerfuel engines using more fuel. Hydrogen cars are easier to achieve because a car range is in the order of 300 to 400 km. Long range airplane can go 16000 km (about 9000 miles); and they need proportionally much more fuel than cars; up to half their maximum take off weight can be fuel.

Then you have the issue of the cold. A rocket can get by because it will remain in the atmosphere just a few minutes before reaching orbit -- and even then, the insulation of the external tank of the space shuttle has proven problematic as we all know. But a long range airplane can be in the air for 14 hours or more, sometime flying in the rain and snow, imagine how much ice from condensation it would accumulate in the period. So thick insulation would be needed, adding even more to the bulk.

Companies ARE studying hydrogen fueled airplanes, but until a good solution to the above mentioned problems is found, they will remain purely in the research stage.

when i search in my web browser, on the side, an icon should appear showing the site is safe or not. but it won't. it used to but i havn't seen it. also i just download the free trial of avg internet security which comes with the active search shield, shield should there be an icon? but the main question is how can i make the icon appear, or know it is working?
