  • Are CD's Effected By Static Electricity?

I was just wondering. I know people when they accidentally generate too much static electricity in their bodies & they touch something , they get shocked. But , what I am wondering is, if I were to generate too much electricity & I touch a CD of mine as the first thing I touch , & there is a snap , will the CD be effected. I am not talking about or worried about me being shocked , but shocking the CD with static electricity where it might be damaged. I'm not talking about me & any immediate or adverse effects. If I shock myself or create a shock when touching a music CD, will the CD be damaged at all ? I know that nobody has ever been asked this question before or has ever had this happen to them. I was just curious if I when it could happen & if & when it does, I'll know.

The other thing is , even if people have said it's not good for CD's to have CD labels on the top of them , I use CD labels & my printer is located right next to my box television set. Not a flat screen TV, a box TV. I still have an old styled box TV. Anyways , the part where you insert the paper is right next to the back of the TV where electricity can be emitted. I was wondering if static electricity can be transmitted onto the paper being printed & then when the CD labels are printed , I am wondering if the physical CD's are still safe to have a newly printed label on them that has been printed on with a TV set that is emitting things from the back of the tube area so close to the printer. Thanks.

  • A Question About Paint Spray Machines?

I am asking about paint sprayers that have high velocity spray that comes out when you push the button. Not spray cans that make a rattling noise when you shake it.

But anyways, I was outside In my driveway that has a common fence on the property line that is shared by unrelated neighbors. There was a person spraying the fence with a machine that sprays paint. The fence , as all fences pretty much do , has vertical slots or slits in it. I was some distance away to be sprayed , but it is a windy day outside & the wind was blowing in my direction. I was wondering between where the spray is being sprayed & when it enters the air , whether or not the paint sprayed possibly had a chance to dissipate into the air before traveling in the wind into my direction & reaching me & my body. I wonder if when the paint is sprayed it combines with the wind that is blowing to where if & when it has a chance to get close to me , that it won't. I am not worried about my safety or my health. I am just worried that if the spray got onto me , that I would have it on my clothes & my skin & I would track spray on my clothing or my skin into my home & when & if I touch something , my property may be effected. I have a lot of expensive electronic items I would hate to accidentally be effected by my touching stuff. I had washed my hands & even took a shower just now. Would the paint spray particles come off me & get onto my things & ruin them or do you think no paint got on me at all ?

  • What Is The Difference Between A Pressed CD & A Burned One ?

I already looked online for what the difference is or was , but it was of no help. It was very laxed with the explanation & a lot of added overly inflated verbiages. I was wondering what the difference was or is in the "pressing" of a music CD only mainly versus a burned one. I believe I already know what a burned music CD is & what it pertains to , but I am truly wondering what separates a pressed music CD & what may make a pressed music CD the cut above the rest when it comes to being better than burned CD's. Again , I am asking about pressed "Music" CD's & not burned or pressed DVD's or any other form of ROM or CD disc-like software. Music CD's only please. I only have Music CD's.

    Any ideas ?

    .... Thanks

  • Do Speaker Magnets Alloy With Steel (Ladders) ?

I have a couple of musical keyboards in my bedroom closet. The keyboards have 2 speakers in them on each side that have speaker magnets on the back of the speakers inside & are part of the music keyboard. I am wanting to bring in a Steel ladder into my bedroom closet & set it right there in front of or right next to a few inches from those keyboards to put something high up on a shelf in that closet. I am wondering if my putting that Steel ladder right next to those music keyboards will be a bad idea because I am putting Steel ladder right next to music keyboard speakers that have magnet based speakers that can somehow have a natural magnetic response in bringing those 2 items closer together like a magnet sticks on a refrigerator. I am wondering that after I use that Steel ladder so close to those speaker magnets , whether or not any type of magnetism will alloy to my Steel ladder or have any signs of magnetic responses after the Steel ladder has been removed & away from those speaker magnets. I just don't want to put my Steel ladder so close to those speaker magnet speakers of my keyboard & have magnetism of any levels still on my Steel ladder when it is removed & away from my musical keyboards' speaker magnets. I am hoping no magnetism will be on my Steel ladder once I am done using it & have taken it away from being right next to my musical keyboards & their speaker magnets. Sorry for repeating myself so much in my sentences. I am well aware of it & I am sorry. Terrible habit. My bad. Thank you.

  • I Have Two Questions About Compact Discs ...?

    1. Are they safe ( my CD's / DVD's ) , safe around & or can be around or right next to aluminum cans like soda cans without any negative effects on my CD's from them being to close or right next to each other ? I know not to "spill" anything on them so I don't need any answers related to spillage. Just scientific metal or alloy or negative wave-like related answers please.

    &

    2. I have a tough delivered amazon.com related canary yellow package for which contains a CD where it is overly taped with those tape guns people use to secure the package with. I am wondering if , & naturally when I am really careful to not damage or touch the CD inside the package , can I use scissors close to or right next to or near my CD('s) inside the bag when trying to get the bag open. I need scissors to open the bag & I don'tr know if scissors will have any wave-like negative effects to CD's. I don't know. I don't know if scissors being close to CD's will have any negative wave like effects to the CD's or DVD's in the package.

    Please help. Thank you.

  • Can Electronics Pass By Microwave Ovens Unscathed ?

I am expecting a rather expensive package today. A CD Recorder worth over $300.00. My microwave is right there next to the common entrance / exit of my home. It is turned off & unplugged , but I am always weary of bringing in or out electronics without removing & moving the microwave to some other far location to keep from any negative reactions between those items I bring in or out of my home passing by my microwave. I simply want to bring in my CD Recorder into my home from the delivery person in it's respective packaging & carry it passed the microwave , which is right there by the door for which & go in & out & carry my recorder into the adjoining livingroom about 10 paces away. Again, the microwave is unplugged. I just don't like bringing expensive things like my electronics passed a device that generates & emits small levels of radiation or any other forms of generated energy that can effect audio & video devices such as this recorder. I am not really paranoid about this so much as I am trying to just be better safe than sorry & I want to protect my investment. Please let me know if anything goes on with any emitting of anything from the microwave whether it is plugged in or not. I don't want t pass by with my electronics with what the microwave is made of either. Just knowing how recent I have used it & all the bad emissions that it gives off with any close by electronics items , CD's & DVD's , I am just weary of allowing my CD Recorder to pass by my microwave oven. Once again , my microwave is right there by the front door , but is unplugged & has been for some time. Can anything radiation relation still exist on the microwave long after it's last usage ? Is it safe to have my electronics pass by such an unplugged , but such a damaging piece of equipment such as a microwave that can damage electronics by safe to be around my delivered package for however short of a time ? I am hesitant of even wanting one second of my package being close to my microwave at all , even if it is to only pass by my microwave for a few seconds. Please let me know if I have anything to worry about .... Thank you. Much obliged. :-)

  • Are Compact Discs Effected By Static Electricity ?

I brushed my hair back with my fingers , running them through my hair for a good while & then handled some of my Compact Discs immediately right after. I am wondering because static electricity exists , whether or not the handling of my hair manually & the friction of moving my hands through my hair & then touching my CD's will cause them any static electricity type of damage in any way in relation to static electricity & things that are touched after friction occurs such as rubbing motions like I did with things like my hair that can easily generate static electricity if done a certain way. I ran my fingers through my hair only for a short time , a few minutes , but not in very fast in motion. I just ran my fingers through my hair & then handled my CD's a moment or so afterwards.

I'm sorry for using repeat words over & over again.

  • Does Stubbing Your Foot On A DVD Disrupt The Contents ?

I hope I chose a close category for my answer. There is no category for this question of mine pertaining to asking about the physical well being of CD's & DVD's when it comes to physical accidents occurring to them.

I had someone over my place to check the furnace in my livingroom. I also had my DVD wallets , the vinyl kind that

holds like 300 plus DVD's as well as CD's that were also in the same location that hod as much , if not more. Because my CD & DVD bags were on the floor close to walking areas , I asked the maintenance man , who I believe may have stubbed his toe on my CD's & or DVD's, but he said he "didn't feel anything." I am wondering if there is no physically seen damage to the disc such as any scratches or any breakage to the disc or cracks , can someone stubbing their toe on a CD bag where maybe a DVD or CD may have been collided with , can that effect the music or the DVD movie such as images. I was just wondering & worried to ask this question. I feel like because I don't know if this did or didn't stub his toe or feet onto my CD & or DVD bags , I feel as though I have to replace all my of DVD's & CD's just to be on the safe side. Kinda' extreme , but I don't know if the guy is lying or if he said yes , that he would feel like he owes me thousands of dollars worth of replaced CD's & DVD's. If I were to merely gently to moderately stub my toe upon the side of or onto a DVD , is there anyway it can make the video skip or have odd visual or audio problems ? I am wondering if there are no breakages or damage to the disc & everything looks fine visually that maybe my CD's & or DVD's were strong enough to handle the impact. It's not like it was a strong kick to them. It may have been a slight to normal nudge or stub of a toe to my DVD's. Not a huge kick to them.

Besides , the DVD's & CD's were not physically openly exposed. They were in huge vinyl made zip around hundreds of holding DVD & CD bags made by Case Logic. Can a small nudge or stub of a toe damage the performance of a DVD or CD even if there is no visual damage seen on the discs & the CD's & DVD's appear to look just fine & unscathed & undamaged ? This guy telling me he didn't feel anything doesn't do it for me especially when he is kneeling down to help with the wall heater where he is tending to the bottom portion where the pilot light & controls are. If no outer physical damage is evident , Can DVD's especially have any signs of when played that there are going to be video related problems or are DVD's & CD's pretty durable to withstand minor to moderate stubs & bumps to them ? Again , I am saying that only the slightest to normal stub of a toe to the bag was possibly done. The maintenance man doesn't know if he did or didn't , I didn't see him stub his toe & h won't own up to it anyways in case he is lying , doesn't really want to tell me the truth or truly doesn't remember. I don't know which. Maybe he didn't feel anything when it came to stubbing his toe because he could have dismissed it as something else he could have felt when stubbing his toe on them , but mistaken it for moving his foot & touching something else that he may have thought in his mind to not consider it being a toe stub of anything or any kind.

Please help me. I need to know whether my CD's & DVD's are just fine when a minor to moderate toe stub took place. If I see not physical damage to the discs & they look fine , does that mean that the DVD's will be fine video & audio-wise too even if they were stubbed by a foot or feet ?

Thank you everyone. I will be watching for my answers from you constantly like a hawk.

  • Does Radiation From A Microwave Alloy With Skin Even Temporarily ?

" I am always wondering & maybe a little worried... If I cooked something inside a microwave , been close around it , let it cook something , take food out & been right next to the microwave or in the area of it & then decided immediately afterwards to go to & be close to & or use my electronics like my CD player & especially important handle & use my CD's & DVD's , will my just now being around the microwave & the radiation , however little it emits , will that be on or around me at the time I am in close or physical contact with my electronic devices & CD's or DVD's to where they can be damaged because of the radiation being on my skin because I was just close to a working microwave ? I am wondering even after I use the microwave even being far away from it , that just being in close or even in the kitchen in the same room as the microwave that waves or radiation will get on my skin & I always unsure of myself to touch my CD's or DVD's or any of my electronics just after being around the microwave & it's immediate proximity. I want to know that even after being around a microwave cooking something , that I can go into my livingroom , pick up a CD or DVD with my hands , the same hands I used to be around the microwave & handle things in & around the working & cooking microwave , & be able to handle & touch CD's or DVD's with or without worry that anything that I experienced from using the microwave only moments ago would have any immediate or adverse or negative effects on my electronics & or CD's & or DVD's.

Does anyone really know ? Seriously. No disrespect , But Please do not provide any guesses or sidebar talk or banter. I need some real scientific answers from the Pro's in here who know some real answers. Please clear my mind. I am always worried to be around my CD's because of recent radiation related business being taken care of with my microwave. I am wondering if microwave radiation alloys to the skin for however short of a time. I am not worried about me or my skin or my health. My main concern is the handling of my CD's & DVD's & what may be on my hands that will effect those items in such a catastrophic way , possibly by having those items be in contact with radiation or any type of microwave related airborne emissions or air particles emitted from the microwave.

I was also contemplating throwing away my re-usable shopping bag. The vinyl type you get from Walmart or Food 4 Less or anywhere else those re-usable big bags are sold , simply because those re-usable bags are in the kitchen in the same proximity of the microwave being in use. I use those vinyl re-usable bags to put my CD's in that I buy off of amazon.com when bringing them home from the post office. Are my vinyl re-usable bags effected ?

  • CD's Getting Wet Or Not To Get Wet - I'm Getting Mixed Messages From Yahoo! Answerers Here?

I am getting mixed messages from Yahoo! Answerer's here. Some answers I got in the past have told me to not get my CD's wet & there was a recent answerer telling me that he doesn't know where I got the idea that CD's can't get wet & went forward with telling me about all the chemicals & wiping the CD's down with water & all this other stuff people do to their CD's. I am confused. I don't get my CD's full on completely spilled type of wet like them being doused with water or heavily spilled on. Nothing like that. I merely accidentally may possibly get drops of water that are particle into small molecule sized drops sucked into the air that happen when I am drinking soda or something else while my 24" inch Maxx Air High Velocity Fan is on. Please Google the 24" Maxx Air Fan so you can get an idea of what one looks like if you don't know or haven't seen one.

The soda may not get into or onto the fan , but the outer cold bottle where the coldness is the same as the bottle being wet. I wonder or worry if somehow the coldness or somewhat outer coldness only related wetness of the plastic bottles I drink from may get collected up into the suction portion of the back of the fan that sucks in the air & then blows air forward & where wetness or coldness that may blow out of the fan into the air in the room can be in the formation of particle wetness caused by recent refrigeration only & not soda wetness or anything being spilled onto the body of the plastic bottle, that particles can be sucked in the back of my fan & then pushed up & out into the blowing air side & those particles can possibly land on my CD's or other things nearby. My fan is loud & powerful & pushes a lot of air & is great.

But , anyhow , some people say don't get the CD's wet & then I see You Tube videos of people washing their CD's & using chemicals & all this other crap to make their CD's work better or like new. I am confused.

As I said some tell me to not get them wet while other answers tell me that wetness does not effect CD's. Please set the record straight. I may not because I am worried that some of the answers given to me here will be just as mixed in commentary or opinions. I don't know how people can possibly wash their CD's & or DVD's & Blu Ray movies & they get dried & they work just fine ! I never tried it , but I am afraid to.

Again , I have completely immersed a CD before & let it dry & it never worked ever again , so I don't know how these people in this world are able to wash & use chemicals on their CD's & still render them all remaining functional. Please people , let me know what's up with that. One last thing is that what I worry about that may be caught into the fan & pushed into the room through the fan blades & moleculed into the air is soda that I drink from those 1 liter bottles. I am wondering if people can use chemicals when cleaning their CD's then I am wondering if getting soda drop particles in the air & possibly landing on my CD's isn't so bad. I know that soda can be acidic to teeth & things like that so I worry that they can be just as damaging to CD's & or DVD's.

Sorry for the long question & commentary here ! :-(

Please answer all my questions & inquires here , please. I appreciate all your help. I will be watching my incoming messages like a hawk. I will stay online watching for my answers for a good few hours from now in case someone answers me immediately. Thanks again , everyone. :-)

  • Does Radiation From A Microwave Alloy Or Mesh With Clothing ?

I hope I am asking this question correctly :

.....I am wondering if when I am cooking in a microwave around a kitchen of mine & I pass by it several times , however many times in person while it is cooking with clothes on naturally , does the subtle amounts of radiation emissions of & from the microwave during this cooking session possibly & incidentally can emit onto clothing & cling to clothing or allow or get onto clothing to where I have to worry about carrying radiation to other parts of the rooms I may walk into soon ? I am just wondering if radiation gets on clothing & can cling & if I am in close proximity of something that isn't supposed to be around radiation , then those items or item may be effected by the radiation traveling on my clothing. I am just curious. I would hate to be around a microwave that is cooking that emits radiation , gets on my clothes & if I were to pick up something like a CD & have it around me or close to my clothing for which the radiation from the microwave was exposed to , that I am worried about getting however levels of radiation onto items such as a CD via my clothing or from something on my person from just prior being close to a microwave before handing items that can be damaged by radiation. I have an older microwave from the early to mid to late 1990's to the early 2000's that still works just fine like a charm cooking-wise so I haven't gotten rid of it yet.

I am also just wondering if the older a microwave gets , the more of a chance that it can get too old to sustain it's grasp on emitting very low amounts of radiation & possibly emit more radiation at some point from getting old or just being an older model. I hope I asked these questions right where you have a good picture of what I am asking. Please answer all those questions & inquires. It would really help. :-)

  • On Average , How Far Does Shower Steam Travel In Distance?

I had my bedroom door open , my bathroom is the next room over beside it. The water heater closet is in between the two rooms. I had my bedroom door open , went into the bathroom where a shower was taken recently where steam was still emitting & clouding up the bathroom. I am wondering with the bathroom door open & the steam still circulating into the air , how far steam travels before it dissipates. I have CD's in the bedroom right around the corner from where the bedroom door opens. They are high up on a shelf , but I know that heat & steam rises so this is why I worry. I am just wondering how far on average does steam travel into the air before it becomes the existing surrounding air & no longer is steam. Please help me understand. I am just worried about my CD's. I know that steam is a bi-product of sorts of water & you're not supposed to get CD's wet or expose them to any kind of water. I'll be watching for my answer here constantly all day. Please answer soon I don't know what category "steam in a shower" would be titled under so I am guessing it should be asked herein the Science category. Sorry if it's the wrong category , but I hope you can answer it for me anyways. Thank you.

  • Are CD's (Compact Discs) Safe Around Aluminum Soda Cans?

I am asking this because I don't know. Are CD's effected negatively by aluminum cans around them either right next to or close by because of the metals that aluminum cans are made of ? I am just asking. I know that CD's are made from & have aluminum on them through manufacturing , but I don't know if it's the same type of aluminum compound. I want to walk passed my CD collection closely , like right next to them with a soda can in my hand. I am wondering if there are any negative effects on CD's with aluminum soda can's right next to CD's. Thanks.

  • Does Microwave Radiation Remain On Plates Or Bowls When They Come Out Of The Microwave From Cooking?

I apologize in advance to everyone for this being a really long & overly asked & explained question. Please bare with me & read it anyways. I am sorry. Here is my question ...

I am wondering if once a plate or a bowl that has been inside the microwave & has finished cooking something , would those items have any radiation on them just after or if any at all , after it has been in the microwave & taken out. I use way too much discretion whenever I pass by my expensive CD collection because I don't know if CD's are effected by microwave radiation at all in regards to items that have been in a microwave. I know & have already been told that CD's unless they are put into a microwave , not advised to try at all , but that CD's are not effected outside of a microwave. I know that. But I am asking about items like bowls or plates that have been fresh out of a microwave coming into proximity & passing by my CD's & being close to my CD's when walking from Point A to Point B where avoiding passing by the CD's is unavoidable..

I know that microwaves have external protection against radiation, but the plates & bowls that are cooked inside the microwave are exposed to radiation , then once taken out I am wondering if radiation remains on it or if it's just a warming mechanism that the microwave does to anything placed into it.

I wonder when I take food out of the microwave , whether or not there is radiation on the plate & food. I am only worried about the things I pass by with the plate ,again , like my CD's or electronics. I would not want them to be effected in the slightest way. I am being inquisitive , not paranoid. Please know the difference.

Plus , before MP3 players , I have been buying & investing thousands of dollars into my existing CD collection since around 1990. Does anyone know if radiation exists on plates or bowls once those items are taken out of the microwave when cooked. Do I need to be cautious about my surrounding CD's & items in my home to make sure there is no contact with the plate or bowl that was taken out of the microwave. Sorry for the long drawn out question. I will be watching consistently for your responses. Please help with some answers. Thank you.

  • How Hot Outside Is Too Hot For CD's?

It is summertime right now as everyone knows. I have a P.O. Box where I pickup my purchased CD's that I buy online. I place my CD's into plastic bags , but soon will be buying some of those re-usable bags you buy for like a dollar from grocery stores or Walmart.

I have it somewhat in the back of my mind that heat , even outside summertime environmental heat is bad for CD's. I have been bringing my CD's home from the post office for some time now through these summer months & am now worried about them as I never thought of this before til' now that I may have endangered my CD's bringing them home in these hot summer time outside temperatures , but never have listened to my CD's for any difficulties. I am wondering if the hot summertime heat , outside , while I bring my CD's home is going to damage them. I walk home by the way. It takes me between 10-15 minutes to get home each way. It takes me about 15 minutes to walk back home with CD's in tow. I can't wait til' it cools off at all because the post office closes at 5 p.m. every day. All doors , .... & they don't open to 8 a.m. But , I also don't get my mail til' 10 a.m. where I want to get my new packages just after 10 a.m. My real question here is if my CD's will be fine in the summertime heat with me walking with them home. If they are safe outside in a plastic bag in the summer heat with me walking with them home for about 15 or 20 minutes tops. Thanks.

  • Do Electronic EBT Machines Have Any (Negative) Effect On CD's Or DVDs ?

I am just wondering. I sometimes set my newly purchased CD's & or newly purchased DVDs right next to those alternative debit card swiping little box sized EBT machines at & on the front counter of the store table just as I am wanting to purchase the CD's or DVDs & I wonder if the CD's will be effected by those EBT machines in a negative way if the CD's or DVDs are too close to the EBT machine. Any damage to the CD's or DVDs at all ? Just asking. Thanks everyone.
