Does anyone know if American actress Molly Ringwald related in some way to German actress Monika Ringwald?
Monica Ringwald is an English-German actress possibly best known for her bit roles in many British sexploitation movies in the 1960s and 1970s. She began her career as a nude model in British magazines and was on the Benny Hill Show. She retired from acting in 1978.
Molly Ringwald’s paternal grandfather was Ferman Verneal Ringwald (the son of Raymond Ruby Ringwald and Maude Monroe). Ferman was born in Oklahoma. Raymond was the son of Jacob Frederick Ringwald, who was of German descent.
I suppose it's possible, but if they are, I suspect they are many times removed and have likely never met. I don't know how common the name Ringwald is.
Celebrities2 months agoWhere are American military servicewomen who are convicted of crimes in South Korea incarcerated?
I know that male U.S. military members who are convicted of crimes in South Korea are incarcerated at the Cheonan Juvenile Correctional Institution as per an agreement between the U.S. and South Korea. But I don't know where female members of the U.S. military that are convicted of crimes in South Korea are incarcerated. Is it Cheongju Women's Correctional Institution for long term Korean female inmates?
1 AnswerMilitary5 months agoSinger Jimi Jameson of the band Survivor was born on August 23, 1951 and had a draft number of 10 on July 1, 1970. Why wasn't he drafted?
I looked on various articles and couldn't find anything that mentioned why he wasn't drafted. With a draft number of 10, he should have been drafted. Does anyone know if he had a medical exemption?
2 AnswersRock and Pop6 months agoDoes the new Unsolved Mysteries on Netflix keep the case info from the original show that were never resolved in case people have tips?
I loved the original show and watch a lot of the original episodes on YouTube. Now that Netflix has restarted the show, I was wondering if they kept up with all the info on the original series in case someone calls with info about them. I believe that they would likely contact law enforcement about the tips if they came in about the old show episodes, but I don't know if they would have them in their records to refer to them.
Drama9 months agoDid the actress Barbara Carrera ever write her autobiography or has there been a biography written about her in book form?
I know she has several articles written about her and has given many interviews. But if she has written... or had her autobiography ghost written, I've never been able to find it while searching online. I've also searched to see if there was an unauthorized biography in book form (not an article) about her life and came up empty as well.
Does anyone know of one?
1 AnswerBooks & Authors10 months agoTrying to find the name of an industrial solvent that was used to clean grease & oil off of electrical wiring.?
When I was in the Coast Guard in the 1980s, there was this industrial solvent that was used to clean oil & grease off of electrical wiring. It was supposed to be very toxic and we were told never get it on your skin. As I wasn't an Electricians Mate (EM) or Electronics Technician (ET), so I wasn't supposed to use it. But it did clean old dried out paint off your brushes and clothing like nothing else would. We called it trike and perhaps its full name was trichlorinate or something like that. I tried looking it up, but can t find any references to it. I was wondering if anyone knew what I am talking about.
5 AnswersEngineering1 year agoDid they have GED classes on U.S. Navy Aircraft Carriers in the 1970s?
I talked to a guy in passing who said he was one of the last people who was able to enlist in the Navy without a high school diploma or a GED back in 1975. He said the only reason he was able to get his GED was that he was stationed on an Aircraft Carrier and they had classes to teach people to pass the GED. When his ship was at sea for six months or more at a time, it was easier to take the classes than if he was shore based. Plus, a lot of sailors that wanted to make the Navy their career were trying to get it because they didn't believe they would be promoted if they didn't.
I was wondering if anyone who served on a carrier in the 1970s have any first hand knowledge of that.

1 AnswerKorea1 year agoDid actress Minka Kelly ever meet her paternal grandfather actor Richard Ney before he died on July 18, 2004?
I know her parents didn't marry, although she is in contact with her father. I was just wondering if she ever met or interacted with her paternal grandfather before he died when she was 24.
1 AnswerCelebrities2 years agoAnyone know what happened to Lowell Scott Gates, the drug abusing son of the late LAPD Chief Daryl Gates after he died? Is he still alive?
There were all kinds of articles about Lowell Gates using drugs from his teens until he was at least 48 (B. December 27, 1955). I know he survived his father's death in 2010, but I don't know if he ever got his act together. Once his father was dead, he was no longer newsworthy and stopped appearing in the news.
Law Enforcement & Police2 years agoIf I pass a CLEP test in high school, can that count for high school credit to to be used to graduate from high school early in California?
I've talked to people who said they took AP courses which also could be counted towards the credits a high school student needed to graduate. I was wondering if the same could be said for CLEP tests if someone wants to graduate early in California? I know you need 230 credits to graduate. So if some people who were knowledgeable enough to take and pass the CLEP tests and didn't want to have to take a class for a semester to get the credits, could they do it?
3 AnswersStandards & Testing2 years agoIf your mom married your stepdad, who then had kids by her and later adopted you, are your half-siblings now considered to be full-siblings?
I'm pretty sure that if you are adopted, then legally, they become your full-siblings because adoption erases all the half stuff. But I wanted to be sure because the question has come up a couple of times.
6 AnswersAdoption2 years agoIf you have 30 or more years serving in the Reserves or National Guard, do they encourage you to retire or can you stay in until age 60?
I know that after 30 years in the active duty military, they start trying to push you out because it costs a lot to keep paying an enlisted member. I just don't know if they try to do that with reservists who haven't reached age 60 yet. I've heard there is no high year tenure in the Reserves or NG, but not really sure of that either. I've heard the Navy Reserves has HYT, but I don't know much about it.
5 AnswersMilitary2 years agoIf you are in civilian law enforcement and in the military reserves, can you volunteer for active military duty or is that forbidden?
I know that if you are in civilian law enforcement and also in the military reserves or National Guard, if your unit is activated, then like everywhere else, you can't be fired from your civilian job. But I have wondered if you volunteer for active duty, if that is frowned on or forbidden?
I do know that if your reserve or National Guard unit is activated, then if you serve a one year tour of active duty, then instead of collecting your pension at age 60, you can collect it at 59. So I was wondering if a police officer in a large department repeatedly volunteered for active duty in order to collect his military pension sooner, would that mean he could be fired or suspended from his civilian law enforcement job?
4 AnswersMilitary2 years agoJustin as a girls name?
I've heard of girls being named Justin, but not many of them. Would it be sociably acceptable in the U.S. to name a girl Justin without her getting too much crap over it? I know there are feminine version of the name includes Justyn, Justine, Justina, etc., but want to know if "Justin" would work.
