  • Should I break up with my boyfriend?

I definitely want to break up with him because I am not happy in the relationship. He is great but it won't work. The problem is, we both have very important exams in two weeks and I feel like this would be bad timing. Is it cruel to break up with him when it could affect his performance, or is it cruel to and pretend like everything is ok for two weeks?

  • Haven't had a period since I stopped my birth control?

Ok first off, I am not pregnant! I was on the mini pill for about four months so I didn't have any periods in that time. Then I stopped taking it and it's been a month and I still haven't had my first period since going off it? I'm a little worried, has the pill messed me up? When should I see a doctor if I still don't get a period?

(my periods were fairly regular and normal before I started the pill)

  • Help I've put on weight since I last saw my boyfriend?!?

I was away for a month and I've put on a few pounds. I'm sure it is noticeable and I feel really embarrassed to see him and be naked in front of him! I really want to see him as soon as I get back but how can I get over feeling so ashamed of myself?? I also can't help thinking that he will mind that I've put on weight even though he is not like that.

  • Experiences with detox diet?

I have really bad eczema which I have read can be due to an unhealthy gut and build up of toxins in the liver. I want to do a detox which will include three days with lemon water, broth and herbal tea and then gradually introducing raw vegetables and more variety over several weeks.

My question is does anyone have experience with detox diets? What was your reason for doing it, how did you go about it, for how long and of course what was the result? Thanks!

  • What use is it to know the strength of earth's magnetic field?

For example how is the knowledge of the strength and direction of the earth's magnetic field used in industry or in scientific fields? I know that there are contour maps for magnetic declination, what are these used for?

  • Why is ionic bonding non directional?

If an ionic bond is coulomb attraction between a positive and negative ion due to electron transfer, isn't the resulting molecule polar? If so, does this make the molecule directional or is this different to being polar?

A little clarification would be useful, thanks for any answers :)

  • Thin film interference?

How does thin film interference produce colours? I've read that it is due to interference of light reflected from the two surfaces, but surely this only affects the amplitude and therefore the intensity of the light. How does the interference of the two light waves produce different colours? There must be something which changes the frequency of the light.

    Thanks

  • What are some good fillings for a burrito?

I know some common fillings include rice, beans, mince/ground beef, cheese, sour cream. But I definitely need some veggies in there and it needs to be something I can freeze (so not salad stuff I guess). Any good ideas of combinations I can do? What's your favourite filling?

  • How is electromagnetic radiation produced?

I need someone to tell me if my understanding is correct and if not to explain why.

So from my understanding there are two ways in which me radiation is emitted. Firstly when a photon is absorbed by an electron and the electron is excited into a higher energy state. The electron then de-excites by emitting a photon. The second way is when a charged particle such as an electron has a change in velocity. For example in a hot material the electrons have random motion in all directions and so are constantly accelerating and emitting radiation.

I feel like this is not correct, or that the two are somehow the same. Please can someone explain to me the correct way in which em radiation is emitted. Thanks.
