  • Can a Jehovah's Witness attend a Halloween party?

I was at a Halloween party tonight, it was just a bit of fun - music, games, eating food. It wasn't really FOR Halloween, just something to reward volunteers at a charity I help out at, us volunteers got to organise it, etc.

But one volunteer who is Jehovah's Witness couldn't make it, said something came up. I was just wondering if maybe she wasn't allowed and didn't want to say as such? I don't know much about her beliefs.

For the record - I'm atheist, so if any atheists want to make any comment that doesn't answer the question, from one atheist to another, please don't! I want an answer, not a joke, if you don't mind. :)

  • Trying to remember a programme from Windows 95/98 era?

So today I was playing Monopoly because we were having a no-internet afternoon (remember what life was like before places like this?) and for some reason I remembered a programme that I used to play at a friends house.

    I can't remember the name.

I can barely remember what it was about.

It was cartoon - everything was cartoon style and I'm sure there was like a handle that you pressed.

I think you could make newspapers and things like that - you could choose a few different options to do.

I don't know much else...except that the friend I played it with was my friend until about 1999 (well we made friends again in 2004 but that's besides the point), so the game has to have been played on either a Windows 95 or Windows 98 computer. It's a long time ago I know.

Does anyone have any idea at all what this programme could be?

  • If Christians are following their religion to get into heaven, doesn't that make them selfish?

I am really curious now...people of faith claim to be really decent, caring people who give to the needy, etc.

But isn't the act of believing/following to get into heaven a selfish one?

  • If someone came to your door claiming to be god/jesus...?

Christians, I am curious right now, if someone came to your door claiming to be god/jesus - and you honestly believed they were who they said they were. After all I hear that god/jesus is due to come back to earth at some point right? A second coming or whatever it's called.

Okay so my question is - if they asked you to give them a load of money, or give them your brand new expensive car, or give them your home. Would you do it based on the fact that you think they're really jesus or god?

I know some of you reading this are atheists so you wouldn't exactly care, I get that, so you don't need to tell me. I'm atheist too, so you don't need to tell me what I already know you're going to say.

  • How can you learn more about god?

I noticed someone said they went to church every week because they wanted to know more about god...now I'm really wondering something...

I ask you, how can you learn more about god when everything there is to know is in the bible?

Surely all you need to do is read the bible a few times to understand everything there is to know?

  • What does Catholic Church teach about murder? (I'm atheist, please no silly atheist replies, it's schoolwork)?

Doing an assignment for religion and need to know what the Catholic Church teach about murder, if you've got respectable sources that would be brilliant, if not, any information would be useful.

  • Why is the bible the most stolen book?

I'm really curious...I'm not judging, but I am wondering.

If Christians are supposed to be good people, who don't commit crimes such as stealing - why is the bible the most stolen book?

  • What project could I run?

For my university course (based around community work) I have to run a community project that I set up myself and whilst I have a few ideas I am running low and struggling to decide on a final idea. So any ideas would be welcomed:

    1) I want the project to involve working with young people aged 11-15

    2) I want the project to be something fun, not a hardcore subject, or teaching

    3) I will only have a limited amount of money, well I could apply for more but the smaller the amount needed the better really

    4) If it's something that could be a long term project that is fine, whilst it is a short term project I have to do for university, I can continue the project once I'm finished if I want to.

Thanks for any ideas that anyone has!
