  • other reasons for dog panting besides heat?

my dog will randomly, out of nowhere just start to pant heavily, his tongue will fold, back slightly arched and ears back. This is never associated to heat. We could be hanging out in the evening and all of a sudden he will start this panting. I don't think it's stress because I don't see why he would be stressed, bored maybe, but not stressed. I have heard that heavy panting can be related to heart problems, could this be it? any other ideas?

btw: please don't just tell me to bring my dog to the vet, I am looking for an informative answer and if I can avoid the costs involved in getting tests done left and right by the vet, I would rather get smart feedback first. thank you

  • why are a lot of people against the health care reform?

I've been trying to figure out why there are so many people against the health care reform and I don't understand the negativity, this reform makes sense and I find it to be a POSITIVE thing that is finally being done.

    So why so many haters?

  • renting out for marijuana grow (in CA)?

based on the new laws and regulations on marijuana grow in CA for medicinal purposes, are there any legal repercusion to renting out a room in a house for growing purposes? (assuming the tenant's license is posted in that room but the tenant will not live there)

Also please clarify on the license: what I call the license is actually only the prescription, not the County license.

  • men and women, I need both your opinion - re: who pays for dinner?

If a man asks a woman out to dinner, I am assuming this would most likely be a date. With that said, after dinner is done:

MEN: do you go on this date expecting to pay for dinner or do you think the woman should pay her share or all of it?

WOMEN: do you go on this date expecting for the man to pay or do you also offer to pay when the bill comes?

What is your opinion/proper etiquette when it comes to who pays on the 1st date?

  • customer harassment help!?

Summary: I am being harassed by a customer and need advice/help

I work for a financial company as the second in command next to the owner however I do not own this Company, I am simply an employee there.

I have a customer who started out being a great person to work with. This customer was in the process of acquiring a loan however mid-way through, the customer's credit dropped to where we could no longer continue with the loan offer. We offered an other type of loan and this customer was thinking it over. A couple weeks went by, the borrower decided to not pursue the loan and then out of no-where starting harassing me making all these false accusation (the customer is - like most - suffering from financial distress and I feel this person is taking it out on me). This person now emails me obsessively with threats, completely out of line and unprofessional comments, and clearly has lost all his marbles. It's pretty much a Mr Jekyll and Mrs Hyde situation and although I have stopped responding to his crazy and notoriously erroneous emails as it gets us nowhere, he has now found my home phone number and my address. He has only called and hung up thus far but with these crazy person threats I'm afraid of what he may do, we are certainly not dealing with a sane person at this time and this person is now taking it to another level by bringing it to my home. The owner of the Company and the Company's Attorney feel that there is no issue at hand since we did nothing wrong and therefore they do not feel the need to contact this person or have time to get involved - I believe they don't understand the magnitude of the situation now.

Any advice on how I can get this crazy person to stop harassing me with ridiculous threats, can/should I get the police involved?

  • would this offend you?

So I walk my dog several times a day and I live in a dead end so there is only one way to go! About 5 houses down there is a jack russell terrier that has a serious barking issue. I have nicknamed this dog Kujo as he really goes out of control when I walk my dog in front on his house (even if I am on the other side of the street). My dog - who loves everyone and everything - is afraid of going past this house and he wants to run by it everytime (he does not do this with any other house that has dogs)

Clearly this dog needs training, the way this dog goes bonkers everytime and the way he throws himself at the door and windows seems way too out of control - even for a jack russell terrier!

Do you think the owner would be offended if I gave her my dog trainer's contact info? The owner must be as annoyed by the excessive barking as I am and my dog is, right? Her dog really needs training though! What should I do? (please don't tell me to drive somewhere to walk my dog)

  • zoom airlines?

Have you heard of this airline? I am trying to figure out if this is safe to travel on. They are an international carrier but if I am on a flight for over 10hours that travels overseas, I want to ensure my safety!

If you know of any other deals on international flights (departing from the US) please let me know.

  • Boston Terrier - what's bad for them?

I am looking for either a book or a website that mentions all the bad things that affect Boston Terriers, including but not limited to plants, food, etc.

Ideally I want something that also has pictures because I don't know all the plants and flowers and having the scientific name does nothing for me!

    I appreciate any suggestions!

  • Collector harrassing me for someone else's debt, help!?

ok, here is the story: I have been receiving phone calls almost daily for years now by a collection company for a debt acquired by a relative from a very long time ago (a student loan back in the early 90s). I keep telling them that that person does not live with me nor is in the U.S. for that matter. They claim I was put as a reference on the college application and also claim that he put my number as his number on other documents - both of which are false since I was a minor when my relative attended school and I lived in another County at the time, I am however the only person listed in the phone book with the same last name - which I keep telling them this is the only way/reason they are calling my house. . .

I don't know what to do to make them stop calling me, it's really aggrevating. Do I have any legal rights or do you have any advise for me?
