Sensory vs. Motor neurons?
i understand that dendrites receive stimuli and axons transmit the information to other neurons or effector cell.
So for sensory neurons the dendrites always lie in tissues of the body and the axons end in CNS?
and for motor do the dendrites always lie in the CNS and the axons in the tissues?
so the run in opposite directions?
1 AnswerHigher Education (University +)7 years agoBeing tagged by others on facebook?
In timeline review if i hide a photo a friend tagged me in from my timeline do all my friends still get the photo in their news feed? In other words if my friend tags me in some photos and i have not reviewed them in timeline review yet, do the photos still appear on the news feed and can my friends who are not friends with the person who uploaded them still see them? Sorry if this is confusing.
If i choose to untag myself, will the person be notified? or will any of my friends know that i untagged myself in some photos?
Thanks

3 AnswersBiology9 years agoSickle Cell Anemia Question?
So in sickle cell anemia is it that the defective hemoglobin can't carry oxygen or is it that the sickle shape of red blood cells make them unable to get through tiny vessels to deliver the oxygen to tissues?
Or is it both?
I know the sickle shape causes clogging and oxygen can't be delivered to tissues, but i thought the sickle cells can't even carry oxygen because of the defective hemoglobin...
Thanks!
5 AnswersMedicine9 years agoBonds in a Nucleotide?
So in a nucleotide which carbon of the pentose sugar attaches to the phosphate group? I read somewhere that its the 5' C but i thought the phosphate group forms a bond with the -OH group of the 3'C?
Can someone please clarify this for me? Thanks.
2 AnswersBiology9 years agoWhat is the difference between Hormones and steroids?
i read in my text book that cholesterol is a steroid but is a precursor to other hormones. What does that mean? Also, hormones are proteins and steroids are fats? how does that work?
Can someone please clarify this for me. thank you.
4 AnswersBiology9 years agoHow many water molecules are produced when a fat is formed?
Say we are talking about a triglyceride
Would it be three water molecules since three ester linkages occur in a triglyceride? So for every ester linkage, one water molecule is produced?
Is this correct??
Thanks!
1 AnswerBiology9 years agoGeneral formula for Carbohydrates?
My book says it is C_x (H_2 O)_y where x is a whole number from 3-many thousands and y can be the same or a different whole number. (sorry don't know how to type subscripts)
So does this mean that carbohydrates can have different amounts of carbon and oxygen atoms. So molecule like C10 H7 O14 can exist?
What about just monosaccharides. Do they have the same ration of carbon and oxygen atoms? My book says that monosaccharides have the formula (C H_2 O)n where n is a whole number from 3 to many thousands. What does n mean? I thought monosaccharides could only have 3-7 carbons...
Any help? Thanks.

1 AnswerPhysics9 years agoHow do viral infections go away?
So my biology teacher says that unlike antibiotics which kill bacteria, there is no medicine that can treat and kill viral infections and that the medicines we take simply help treat the symptoms.
My question is that when we do get a viral infection, how does our immune system kill it and get rid of it? And how does it "remember" the virus so it can recognize it the next time we get the infection?
Thanks for the help!

2 AnswersBiology9 years agowork done climbing stairs? Challenging!?
So i am climbing a staircase. i have already figured out my displacement vector as well as its x and y components. I have also figured out my weight in newtons. so to figure out the work done i would take the displacement component and the force component that are is the same direction and multiply them.
My question is that the only force i exert in this situation is the force which is equal but opposite to my weight correct? but i thought that the normal force took countered the weight force so i stayed in equilibrium? Also, is the force i exert only upwards or is it along my displacement vector?
I might be making this more confusing than it needs to be, but i think its a complex situation. thanks for any help!
1 AnswerPhysics9 years agoSecond Grade Teaching ideas?
For my child development class i have to go to a second grade classroom to teach them for about 35 minutes. My lesson can be about anything and it does not necessarily have to be about school subjects. for example, the children could build something.
I really want the kids to become involved and have fun. There are half girls and half boys.
Does anybody have any good ideas? thanks.

7 AnswersPhysics9 years agoObjects' directions after colliding?
When an object with initial momentum to the right collides with a stationary object (zero momentum), shouldn't the stationary object start moving to the right after the collision while the other object comes to rest? But then how do you explain why a golf club continues to move even after colliding with a stationary golf club?
Can someone just explain to me how the direction of objects are determined after they collide? Please also explain the golf collision question. Thanks!
1 AnswerPhysics9 years agoFree-fall Time equations?

2 AnswersPhysics9 years agoMomentum and Collisions question. Help!?
so my textbook says that after the collision of two objects, the change in momentum of the first object is equal to and opposite the change in momentum of the second object so momentum is conserved.
Can someone explain to me what happens after two objects both with initial momentum collide? So an action-reaction force pair occurs which determines the motion of each individual object and does the momentum simply flip flop?
For example, if Object A has momentum of 60 p to the right and Object B has 40 p to the left. After the collision, would Object A have 40 p to the left and Object B would have 60 p to the right?
3 AnswersPhysics9 years agoMomentum and Forces question?
I understand that impulse momentum theorem says the a small force acting over a longer time will produce the same change in momentum as a large force acting over a small time. An example, my textbook gave was a person who lands on a trampoline experiences a smaller force since the trampoline gives way and allows the time to extend. What i don't understand is that the person is always going to have the same mass and if the velocity is the same that aren't they going to the experience the same force whether they land on the trampoline or the ground? Isn't that what f=ma means? Is the force just spread out over the extended time or what? Please help explain this to me.
