Is it rude to be up-front with a photographer?
I'm going to take my 9 month old son to have pictures taken, just like I always have. If anyone knows about taking pictures at a portrait studio, you know they take several poses and offer huge packages that (in my case) can be upwards of $500+. I'm only going in for the $9.95 Special...regardless of how many great poses there are..that's just all I can afford and am willing to spend on photos. Is it rude to tell the photographer that upfront, or when they're in "sell" mode trying to get you to make extra purchases? Has anyone just been plain and up front?
7 AnswersEtiquette1 decade agoShould I tell my boss?
In my department at my job, we work in groups of 2 teams. I am the lead for my team and my friend who is on my team is planning on quitting next week. She's not giving a notice to our boss, she just wants to leave because apparently they've had some issues in the past. Me being a team lead, I have a good working relationship with our boss and I don't think it would be fair for her to have to scramble to hire someone to cover her position, not to mention my team will be down one member and will be less productive until we get a replacement. I want to tell my boss, but I don't want to risk betraying my friend even though I think what she's doing is wrong. What would you do??
6 AnswersOther - Careers & Employment1 decade agoWhat are some creative ways to get a Team member to become more productive?
I am the Team Lead for a team of 4 people at my job. We work in a productivity environment. One of the 4 of us is always away from his desk, and works at a very slow pace on purpose. Besides having a straight forward conversation with them, what are some ways this can be approached that are not offensive so that the end result can be improvement?

3 AnswersCooking & Recipes1 decade agoDo you think these are unfair party plans?
I have a friend that is originally from where I live now..she moved away, but her parents still live here and she visits at least two or three times a year. Well, her 30th b-day is coming up, and she's planned events in both cities. The plans here are inclusive of our old classmates and family. She has designated days to do different things, so she sent out emails to all of us explaining what the plans were for every day Thur-Sun. All of the plans include things like going to an amusement park, going to brunches and dinners at fine restaurants, and going to high end clubs and after hours places for drinks. My whole thing is, how does she know who can and cannot afford something like this?? (I can't!) I know it's her 30th b-day, and she wants to do it big, but there is nothing that anyone can join in on to help her celebrate with out spending $$. It just seems a little unfair to me. I think out of a list of 12 or so friends, she may end up being very dissapointed..
11 AnswersPolls & Surveys1 decade ago2006 Chevy Prism A/C?
When I go to push the button for my Air Conditioning to come on in my car, I no longer hear the compressor(?) pop on. Also, hot air blows out. Can compressors go out?? Do I just need freon?
2 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs1 decade agoWhat do you think about the final 3 contestants on Next Food Network Star?? Who do you think will win?
I think Lisa's cooking is good, but sometimes too extravagant to reach common home cooks. She seems a little too uptight/intense too. Aaron is OK. His cooking seems to be good, but he has alot to learn in the way of personality. I think Adam fits comfortably inbetween the two. I think he'll win
6 AnswersOther - Food & Drink1 decade agoWho's your favorite cook on Food Network? Who is your least favorite?
I like Ina Garten on Barefoot Contessa. She makes all kinds all great dishes for all occassions. She's a good cross between high end cuisine and comfort food. My least favorite would be Rachel Ray. Now, because she's a little over-marketed. I liked it better when you had to find her rather than her constantly being in your face. I also don't like the new set or movie- like film now used for 30 minute meals.
27 AnswersCooking & Recipes1 decade agoDon't you agree that people in Hollywood can get away with some fashion/outfits that common day people can't?
I just saw a pic of a celeb with a purple dress on with bright blue shoes..and she was "wowed" for her great look! lol If you or I were to walk down the street wearing that, we'd be classified as a nut case. Some stars wear the ugliest outfits, but it seems OK just because it cost lots of money..
9 AnswersCelebrities1 decade agoDoes anyone shop for clothing exclusively in catalogs?
It seems like catalogs offer more styles, sizes, colors..the only drawback is the wait and/or shipping time and costs, while retail shopping is more convienent. Every time I look through a catalog I almost always see something I want to buy..just the wait time is discouraging, also not knowing what the item looks like in person.
3 AnswersPolls & Surveys1 decade agoIs this correct on a seperation notice from my employer??
I was pregnant, and did not have short-term disability insurance through my company, so I took the 12 weeks unpaid FMLA. While on leave I decided that I would not be returning, so 2 weeks before I was scheduled to return, I submitted a formal letter of resignation to the company. I recently recieved a seperation notice in the mail from them, and underneath the reason for leaving, they put "Did not return after leave". Although I can't see where I would need to show this, it is a legal document and it seems like the reason that was put implied that I quit without notice and will make a negative impact on me for future employment should a hiring company contact them for information. It could be easily turned around and be said they fired me for not returning after my leave, rather than I submitted a resignation letter. Should/could this be changed to say I simply resigned from my position?? Does this seem fair to me? Does it even matter?
5 AnswersLaw & Legal1 decade agoThis question is for dad's not in a relationship with their childs' mother?
I just to hear from any men who have fathered children, take an active part in their childs life, but are not married to or in a relationship with the childs mother. If the childs mother has moved on and has a new guy in her life that accepts your child as his own, how does that make you feel?
3 AnswersFamily1 decade agoWill I have any problems quitting my job while on unpaid FMLA?
I did not have STD while I was pregnant and just took the 12 weeks unpaid FMLA. I'm supposed to return in 3 weeks, but I have decided to submit a resignation and not return to the job. I used my accrued vacation/sick time to cover the premiums for my insurance, and after that was used I cancelled my benefits. So as of now I have no financial ties to the company at all, I'm just out on the unpaid fmla. Will I be responsible for anything? When should my effective date of resignation be?
3 AnswersLaw & Legal1 decade agoI'm so over the 'Sex in the city' movie hype..are you?
I never cared about the show, and I could care even less about the movie. I'm so over Sarah Jessica Parker..I'll be glad when tomorrow comes and goes..
