Can I get a list of great plus-sized stores in Paris, France?
I'll be traveling to Paris next year. I have been loosing weight, but probably won't ever be a skinny little thing again. I know at least the last I visited, women tended to be thinner. Where can I buy clothing that would fit similar to an American size 12 (misses) to size 14 (womens)?
3 AnswersParis8 years agoCat with some sort of digestive / intestinal problem?
Ok, have had this cat to the vet repeatedly and no real relief. We've had many cats over my life, never seen anything like this. What could it be?
Symptoms:
Smell.
She had burps that smell like something died in there.
Her bowel movements have incredible stench and it is not a poop smell. It is a something died smell.
When she coughs up hairballs, they also have that stench.
Pain.
She seems to have pain when picked up like you'd normally pick up a cat under their stomach.
She screams like it is a sudden very sharp pain when coughing up hairballs.
She has constant diarrhea.
We have done everything according to vet instruction. She's been treated twice for parasites, once being kept boarded to make sure it was treated, and twice for an unknown bacterial infection. Once treated for both at same time. Also had her teeth cleaned. Also has been on first cat food with no wheat and now a special cat food they usually only give right after surgery. She seems to have slightly less diarrhea with the after surgery food. After they treated both together, for a brief period the stench went away and the diarrhea seemed to almost go away. We took her back when it started coming back and the vet said negative stool test so nothing was done. Any ideas? Suggestions? Is there maybe a vet specialist we should look for?
3 AnswersCats8 years agoWhy did my skin raise up and peel off after my last acrylic nails?
The last two time I got acrylic nails, the skin all around them was fine for about 15 hours, then began to blister up all around the nails. After a couple of days, all the raised skin peeled off. The first time, the lady thought it was dry skin. I've had a bad problem with the area right around my nails being very dry, but it got better after I started putting cuticle oil around my nails 2x per day which I have still been continuing. A friend thinks I am allergic to something in the drying chemical they use to make sure the nails adhere. Will this be a problem if I go to gel or solar nails?
1 AnswerOther - Skin & Body8 years agoInsurance rates screwed for ever for demanding they fix what broke?
I had a car accident nearly 9 years ago. At fault party also had same insurance company as I. They failed to repair all the damage to my car, and refused to make it good. A lawyer wrote a polite, but firm, letter requesting they send me a check to cover the remaining damage. They sent it immediately, but 'forgot' to send my next bill. I paid what I guessed, it was $2 short, so they cancelled me and refused to take me back. They also took months to refund my refused payment. When I took my business elsewhere, they wanted more than I was accustomed to paying for an entire year just for three months coverage. I'm sure it was because of the letter from the lawyer, although when asked neither company would confirm it. I've been told by same lawyer, that would be illegal in my state. I took a job that provides a company car with company insurance, and haven't had to buy insurance in over 8 years. I have been limited by my lack of a personal car, and am looking at making a purchase. Will this have fallen off my record, or is this forever?
3 AnswersInsurance9 years agoWhat car lasts many years well with best gas mileage?
We've been out test driving cars. The car must get at least 33 mpg highway and fit a 6'5" man in reasonable comfort. We expect to maintain it well and keep driving it at least 8 years minimum. Cars driven so far:
Fiat 500
Honda Civic, Accord, CR-V
Nissan Altima - wanted to drive a Sentra, but the dealership claimed they had none we could drive although we saw some on the lot.
Ford Focus Sedan, Focus hatchback, Fiesta
Fiat was my favorite as far as comfort and pickup, but the central gear shift was problematic for tall man as he kept hitting his knee on it. Additionally fear it wouldn't hold up well long term.
Altima was tops in comfort for me due to the seats and had good pickup. Plenty of room for tall man, but the dealership in McKinney was very high pressure and we would like to at least trial a Sentra. They wouldn't even let us sit in one.
Tall Man loves the Focus. I found some of the seats have a weird bend so that the back is almost a V. Naturally, the more expensive seats did not have this so much and were much more comfortable.
The Honda we drove with the high gas mileage also had very poor power and felt like it was laboring on a very small hill. We worry when we visit family in areas with much higher and steeper hills that will get annoying. We were disappointed as we test drove the Honda with their great record for lasting and lasting well.
Any recommendations or information regarding how well various cars hold up appreciated.
1 AnswerMaintenance & Repairs9 years agoAnyone experienced biceps tendinitis?
I injured my shoulder a while back and went to a surgeon who sent me for an MRI thinking I had a torn rotator cuff. It turned out to be a frozen shoulder, and I was sent to a physical therapist. Now that my shoulder has improved somewhat, I find I have one remaining group of problems which a friend who is the trainer for a local athletics team has said is biceps tendinitis. I have a follow-up appointment with the orthopedic surgeon, but I am nervous. I was wondering if someone with experience wished to share.
My symptoms:
Cannot reach behind back with affected arm.
When I try to reach behind back, I have a good bit of pain in the upper back quadrant right at the joint and running down the arm toward the biceps muscle.
If I do the exercises I was given by the physical therapist aimed at reaching behind my back with this arm, I also suffer a feeling like my smallest finger and half my ring finger on that hand are going to sleep. They tingle and lack feeling.
If I sit still for a while, I feel I must move the arm to relieve the stiffness and pain that develops in the area of the mid- to lower-bicep.
In the morning after I have been asleep and still is the worst time for pain and stiffness in the shoulder and bicep.
Certain motions somewhat similar to the motion of pitching a ball overhand cause a good bit of pain in the mid- to lower-bicep area.
Some examples of motions that have caused me pain include when I went to throw a throw blanket over the back of my recliner, and when hot liquid was splashed on the hand such that I reflexively jerked it away while attempting to fling off the hot liquid.
Despite doing my exercises religiously for two months, I have seen no improvement in these issues. I have seen a very great deal of improvement in other areas as when I started I was in constant pain about equal to the pain I currently feel when performing one of the motions in the examples above and lifting my arm out to shoulder level in front of me brought pain so severe it took my breath away and caused black spots to appear in my vision. I now only feel pain when I sit still too long or if I try to reach behind me or certain other motions. I think the reason the trainer thought bicep tendon was probably attached to the dead feeling I sometimes get in my smallest finger and half my ring finger of that hand as apparently the tendon and that nerve run in a groove together along the back of the arm near the shoulder. Apparently swelling and damage to that tendon can cause it to come out of the groove and possibly even push the nerve out, resulting in the falling asleep feeling.
The trainer and my physical therapist thought my surgeon might likely give me a shot and send me for more physical therapy, but the trainer said surgery was also a possibility. That's what is making me nervous.
Thank you!
4 AnswersPain & Pain Management10 years agoKid - traffic accident - Texas how's this work?
Basic story: 17 year old was lost and confused and pulled out causing very minor dented bumper his car, very minor damage to other car, and was ticketed for failure to yield right-of-way. Cop said under 25 in Texas now must show in court to let the judge have a chat with them and kid might loose license. Websites for several Texas cities specify only under 17 must show up in court for a traffic ticket, so think that about coming to the courthouse might be a local law. Parents have instructed 17 year old son to go to court, plead Nollo Contendre, pay fine, and do whatever judge says. As far as I can locate, this should mean approximately $300-400 fine, take defensive driving or loose license, but I am not entirely sure. Parents tried to call attorney but couldn't find anyone in as it is Sunday and just hoping to relieve their minds a bit until they can see one tomorrow. Anyone have further information for a minor fender bender in Texas? We chose Nollo Contendre because although the damage to the other car looked extremely minor and teen's car barely had a slight scratch on the bumper, the spouse of the woman in the other car was heard several times saying don't worry, he would make sure the other car was totaled out and a new car be the result for the woman. We don't think the teen should say "guilty" in case there is a civil case later. Thanks for any serious replies. We realize we will need to see a lawyer for further details before the court day, just wanting to maybe relieve parental minds a bit until then as some places it seems to imply loss of license and other such things might be a result of this. Thanks!
2 AnswersLaw & Ethics10 years agoProblems and pain with different brand contacts?
I have worn contacts for about 20 years and never had this happen. I recently switched to a new brand my doctor said would be better because the lens is "actually impregnated with a chemical moisture agent" - whatever that means. Other than twice the price. I suffer from mild allergies and occasionally have a bit of dry eyes from the allergy medication, so I thought this would be a way to avoid the rather mild occasional irritation from the dry eyes easily.
Today, I placed the contact in my eye as usual and felt a small amount of discomfort such as I would normally sometimes get when first putting on lenses after a few days of taking allergy medication due to dry eyes. The normal cure is to remove and rinse lens. Usually there is a little evidence of thick mucus on the lens when I remove it. Normally no trouble removing it. I rinse the eye with rewetting drops, rinse the lens before putting it back in. Normally this is easy to do and everything is fine for a good while after. Usually later in the day my eyes feel a bit dry and irritated a couple times, and I have put drops in. I hate putting drops in out in public, so I had hoped these lenses would eliminate some of that, and the doctor said he thought they would.
I went to remove the lens and as soon as I tried to slide the lens slightly so I could remove it from my eye, I felt a stabbing pain. My eye continued to hurt under the contact and I had a very difficult time opening my now reddened and visibly swollen eye such that I could remove the contact. I finally got it out, and my eye was sore, red, and light sensitive for a couple of hours. This is the second time this has happened. For the second time, I went to my eye doctor and he found nothing wrong with the eye. By the time he could see me, it was an hour or so after the redness, soreness, and light sensitivity had gone away. Today he made some crack about me poking myself in the eye, so I guess he thinks I am doing something. If I am, it is sure weird I managed to wear contacts over 20 years without ever having had this problem previously.
The first time this happened, I was just shocked and in pain and that was about all I could tell. This time, having experienced it before and got through it, I was able to more calmly evaluate what I was feeling. What I think is happening is that the contact is suctioning to my eye strongly enough my attempt to dislodge it to remove it is painful, but is not causing any permanent damage. Is this possible? Thanks in advance for any answers.
2 AnswersOptical10 years agoI'm trying to recall the name of a medication?
It was a prescription allergy medication first appearing I think in the 80s. Though it was only recommended for adults, some doctor prescribed it to a kid, and he ended up with heart problems and died very quickly. After that, it was on TV, I want to say I recall it on 60 minutes and they said a group of people got heart problems or couldn't sleep after using it. I think it started with a P (could be way off) and it was one of the very earliest non-drowsy antihistamines. Someone once told me they thought allegra was this medication re-engineered to remove the side effects, but I can't seem to confirm this. Before they modified google, I was able to find the name by searching for antihistamine that caused heart problems that killed a kid, but it doesn't work now. This came up in conversation with a friend, and now it is driving us nuts we can't either one of us recall the name.
Thanks!
1 AnswerOther - Health1 decade agoVizio 32 inch lcd tv menu keeps popping up?
Brand new out of box vizio 32" lcd tv has problems. First had trouble getting it to turn on. Finally the menu came up, we set it up, and sat down to watch movie. All through movie, menu to choose input kept mysteriously popping up. Choose the proper input, and continue. Randomly back. Finally finished movie, turned it off. Turn back on and now the menu above that is up constantly flipping through the choices. If you try to do anything, the choose source menu comes up and flips wildly through the choices, ignoring all input. Only way to get rid of it, turn it off. Show is showing while this is going on, so it does apparently know there is input coming to it. Any ideas if there is say a software upgrade for this? If not, going to have to return it and will upset the person who gave us the gift that it doesn't work. Any constructive input appreciated.

My brother-in-law loves some cheap gin normally only sold to restaurants in big jugs. I got him some last year and can't recall the name. He's not available to ask at the moment, and this is all I have left of Xmas shopping. Yes, I know. Cheap gin, yuck. It makes him happy, it is Christmas, and so I just want to give him what he likes. Thanks!

I do not think I mean Bill Alexander. This guy ALWAYS wore that hat, was always fussing with it, and it was a cowboy hat. I think I recall seeing this guy in the early 90s maybe.
1 AnswerPainting1 decade agoHow to remove stubborn whiteheads?
I have really hard white heads that are like tiny white plastic beads. Usually they are just below the skin and small. The only way I have found is to pretty much dig them out with a needle. My pores are small and they absolutely won't come out just by squeezing or "lightly poking with a sterile needle". I have a few that are about the size of a small English pea and deep. Getting those out is really painful and I was wondering is there some other way, like maybe lasering the deep ones out? I do all the cleanse, exfoliate, and moisturize stuff regularly, so this is just my weird skin, I guess. I've tried all the steaming and other natural so-called remedies, but it still comes down to digging them out.
5 AnswersOther - Skin & Body1 decade agoHigh chair table with seat in middle and four legs like table?
what happened to this really nice safe option? I had one for my kids and the beauty was they couldn't tump it over if they tried to crawl in by themselves and it was really easy to clean. It was like someone cut a hole in a very sturdy wooden play table and inserted the seat portion with safety straps in the middle. I _think_ it was made by a better company and was their only high chair option. given the way the legs on newer high chairs splay out, I doubt very much they take any less room. The legs also folded up though with some difficulty obviously to make it safer / less likely it could happen by accident or mistake. I would dearly love to buy one for my grandson, wish I hadn't sold mine in a garage sale. I have googled a lot and always get those that look so very very unsafe as strap on table. Thanks for any info!
4 AnswersNewborn & Baby1 decade agoHow hard is French 1010 for a beginner?
I took three years of French in high school many years ago. When I traveled to France a few years ago, I refreshed online, was able to reasonably comprehend, in French, menus, a booklet on rail travel, various signs and instructions needed for the trip. Visited a hands on science museum aimed at kids, found my language skills were not equal to the task, probably because I did not know specialized terms. Think I could handle college university French 1010?

2 AnswersFashion & Accessories1 decade agoDealing with Family with Mental Problems?
I am looking for serious advice in how to help my 15-year-old deal with some family members with diagnosed mental disease. A member of my family was diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder with Depression and affective instability by a psychiatrist (long story there I won't bore you) and she and her husband are in complete denial. Other members of the family have a lot of denial going on as well, and I have for many years limited time spent with them to as little as possible. I have only allowed one or two public gatherings such as a dinner with many family members in a public restaurant per year. I have invited them to certain public gatherings involving my children such as my older daughter's graduation in a public football stadium. They always fail to show up for my kids' activities then pull them aside next family gathering and tell them nonsense like they were afraid to come for fear I might still be mad at them even though at all public meetings with them I am polite and civil and have never shown any form of anger or hatefulness to them. Friends who know the entire story often marvel how I can treat them perfectly civil as they have always observed. Now they are pressuring my daughter to go spend time with them near the diagnosed person by staying with her daughter a few doors down for a week. I feel it would be unsafe to allow this so said no. They were texting my daughter convincing her I was "just mad because of some dust ups" that happened between this woman and myself (The so-called dust ups are related to her ultimately being diagnosed and almost resulted in severe harm to my older child and myself). I have blocked them from texting her phone. I have tried to explain to my daughter although yes, I was angry at the time of the incident, my refusal to allow her to spend a week in their home is entirely out of concern for her mental health and physical safety. This woman is very devious and I want to prepare my daughter to withstand her in the future. Is there anything further I should be doing?
