Question about nasal passages/sinuses?
At any given time I can only breath through one nostril. The other will be totally blocked. It's not a seasonal thing....it's like this all the time. It also alternates between nostrils. Is this common? My Dr. gave me a decongestant nasal spray, but it hasn't helped at all. It's always been this way for me. Does anyone else have this? Any suggestions to stop it? Thanks.
1 AnswerRespiratory Diseases1 decade agoPlease accept my help! What do I do?
I haven't checked things out here for a while, but this is always a good place to come for some advice on stuff like this. Please help if you can! I'm sorry it's so long....it's a long story.
I have a friend that had a stroke several years ago and has been bedridden ever since. Once/month he needs to have a blood test. This was a huge ordeal and went on for a while before I found out about it. The poor guy's wife had to arrange for a special lift to be brought to the house and then have a few people over to help get him into a special chair and then into a special van just to go to the hospital for a simple blood test...then back again. It would be a 3+ hour ordeal for them. Well, I work in a hospital lab and as soon as I found out they were doing this I offered to just come to their house and draw his blood test. It was truly my pleasure to do it for them. I consider them friends and I hated to think of all the trouble they were going through for such a simple thing. I knew they were grateful and that's always been enough. I don't know why but for some reason lately the wife is always wanting to give me money. If I don't accept it at the time I'm there then she will send it later in a card. These are older people on a fixed income and have NO money. I've told her it's my pleasure to help them and nothing like that is necessary, but she keeps doing it. I feel terrible accepting it because I know how much they need it and I can never bring myself to spend it. I just wish that she would accept my help without feeling the need to pay me. They just can't afford it and I'm so happy to just help them. Does anyone have any suggestions? Home health care is not an option for them for some reason I don't understand and I've kindly explained to her not to give me anything several times. I'm out of ideas. I can't stand to accept their money for this. Please help....
1 AnswerEtiquette1 decade agoPossible tipping etiquette snafu....what do you think?
Ok, I've been going to the lady who cuts my hair for years and I really like her. I always give her about a 25% tip. She recently changed addresses and isn't so computer savvy so I offered to update business search sites so people could find her new business address. It was no problem at all. She was so happy about it that she offered to give me my next haircut for free. I politely told her that wasn't necessary, but she wanted to so I gave in politely....I intended to go ahead and tip her for that, but she rushed me out for her next customer and wouldn't take it. I consulted friends and they said to just give her a nice tip the next time I go. Great idea, right?? Well, I just left there and she just called me to tell me that I made my check out for too much. I told her it was a tip and a thank you for the free one she gave me last time. She told me thanks....but not to do it again. I hope I didn't offend her. Do you think I did the right things?
7 AnswersEtiquette1 decade agoWhat are the best storage ideas for home desktop backup storage?
I just want to use it to back up my personal data files, movies, photos and music. Total storage for all of this (although it's growing all the time) is about 800MB right now. I've considered just using CD's, but my software (Roxio) keeps becoming incompatible with Windows upgrades and it's getting frustrating....not to mention time-consuming. I've also considered using USB flash drive(s) or buying an external hard drive. Have you had any personal experience with this? Do you have any suggestions about this? Thanks!

5 AnswersDesktops1 decade agoCan you tell me how to add restrictions to the Guest account in Windows XP?

3 AnswersSecurity1 decade agoWhat can you tell me about Lap Band surgery vs. Bariatric surgery?
Has anyone had personal or professional experience with either of these? What information can you give me as far as success, risks, considerations, cost, follow-up care, happiness with the overall procedures? Thanks! :)
Additional Details
I've encountered people who have had bad luck with Bariatric surgery. Two that I know have died from complications. I'm also concerned about what happens with fast weight loss...what to do with all the extra skin. I saw at least one surgery on the Discovery channel where that was removed and the guy looked like he'd been sawed in half...it was horrible. I'm not that familiar with Lap Band, but a friend is considering it so I'm just looking for some information about it. Thanks!
1 AnswerDiet & Fitness1 decade agoAny suggestions for making chocolate-covered strawberries??
In the past I've made them by melting Hershey's milk chocolate pieces. I've also used almond bark and they both do fairly well. I like to double dip them first in brown chocolate and then in white. The white always dries out when I melt it though. Any suggestions for keeping the white chocolate smooth? Any other suggestions overall? Thanks!! :)
10 AnswersCooking & Recipes1 decade agoIs anyone familiar with Syncsta? What's going on with them?
They haven't done any new videos for a while and now Jake's MySpace page is gone. I heard they were going to stop making videos. Does anyone know anything more about it? Have they really stopped? Why? -Thanks!
1 AnswerOther - Entertainment1 decade agoHelp with my cat's new habit....?
About a month ago my cat (who is about 7 years old and has never done this before) started becoming fascinated with his tail. He started chasing it like crazy....quite often. At first it was cute...then kind of annoying, but still cute. Well, just yesterday I noticed that the end of his tail is bare now! What can I do? I have some "Bitter End" which is something that tastes bad and is safe to spray on his fur to prevent chewing, but it doesn't seem to phase him....he just keeps right on playing with it and chewing it. Any other suggestions?? Thanks!! :)
6 AnswersCats1 decade agoQuestion about accents? I posted this question earlier, but only got general opinions. Here's hoping....??
I was just wondering how non-American, English speaking people such as those from the UK and Australia feel about American accents. I know many people in America, including myself, really like the English accent. I just wondered if I were in one of your countries for a visit would you notice that I have an accent? Would you like it? I'm from the American Midwest...Central Illinois to be more precise.
I'm asking because I've heard varying accounts of our accents. Some have said that it's been determined that our "accent" is completely neutral and really doesn't exist so it's the "accent" that others are defined against. I've also heard that when someone from my part of the world visited England they enjoyed her accent a lot and always wanted her to talk. Since I'm from here I don't notice any sort of accent, but I find myself transfixed when people from other countries talk with one. Just wondering if any of those people take interest in ours.
Any thoughts?? Thanks! :)

3 AnswersLanguages1 decade agoIn the UK, what does the emphatic term "bloody" mean? What is it's origin?
When you say Bloody <something>....is it like using cuss words in America or anything like that? Thanks!
14 AnswersLanguages1 decade agoWhat are the colored dots at the bottom of my Cheetos bag?
I don't know if these are on other brands or not, but I just noticed that they are on the bottom of other Frito Lay products too. Are they a way to confirm or set the colors on the bag? Not a big deal...just curious.
5 AnswersOther - Food & Drink1 decade agoDoesn't it just tick you off to no end when you take the time and trouble to answer someone's question...?
...(sorry, ran out of characters)...and they can't bother themselves to choose a Best Answer??? Then it goes into the Voting void full of tied votes and you've pretty much just wasted your time trying to be helpful to that person? (other than the 2 points) I would think that most people answer with the hope of being chosen as Best Answer. Even if your's isn't chosen though, it's just a simple courtesy.
19 AnswersEtiquette1 decade agoHas anyone ever heard that using Drano or similar products can cause drain clogs after they are used?
I have a laundry drain from the back of my washer that is draining slowly and spilling on the floor. I was going to use Drano gel on it and Drano foamer, but a friend told me that her Dad is plumber and does not recommend using that type of thing because it may clear it to start with, but will congeal and form a new clog later on. Has anyone heard of this or anything else like it? Have you had success or failure with these products? Thanks!
3 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs1 decade agoMy cardiac enzymes are elevated after doing heavy work. Should I be worried??
My CK was 930 with CKMB of 5.5 and MBI of 0.6, Myoglobin 117, Troponin <0.06. The next day the CK was 550, CKMB 3.3, MBI 0.5, Myo 143, Trp <0.06. I'm thinking this is a lot of just skeletal muscle causing this elevation, but I'll probably see a doctor just in case.
10 AnswersHeart Diseases1 decade agoHas anyone tried the Scrubbing Bubbles Automatic Shower Cleaner? Are you happy with it?
I'm trying to decide whether to buy one. It seems a little pricey, but if it does what it says then it would be worth it!
3 AnswersCleaning & Laundry1 decade agoWhy do perfectly good storms keep dissipating over Central Illinois??
If you check the national or regional radar right now (3am Central Time) near this area you'll see that a huge storm was headed this way. Now it's completely gone for us...split in two and is actually reforming on the other side. This happens over this area (specifically McLean County, IL) ALL the time. Is there something about the humidity in this area? the elevation?...that causes this. Are there any weather experts that can explain this? Thanks!
3 AnswersWeather2 decades agoOn the series "Frasier", why did the actor for Daphne put on so much weight during one season?
Was the actor pregnant? Did she really have a sudden weight gain? Did she do it just for the show? I've been watching reruns and I'm perplexed. It doesn't really seem to fit in, but at once she was a respected character then she began overeating and putting on weight at which point the other characters made jokes about her. Does anyone know what the actual reason for all that is?
